Rapido OO Hunslet Running Tests

A further look ok at the running properties of the OO gauge ‪@RapidoTrainsUK‬ 16in Hunslet. On my first view I assumed incorrectly that the chassis had a fully geared drivetrain. It doesn’t, but the chassis it does have is exceptionally good. I compared it with an early DJM J94 which does have a full gear driven chassis and which if you look at the earlier videos on the channel, runs poorly when shown a descending gradient. Unlike the ‪@PlanetIndustrials‬ / ‪@accurascaleuk1427‬ MDV in the video which you will see runs a little to well! :) The one element that had really impressed me is the traction of the chassis, all control in this test has been with plain DC control. With this 4% gradient the model has no hesitation in standing starts on the grade either pushing or pulling the loaded wagon. The weight of the wagon is impressive too. At close to 300 grams the model is moving the rough equivalent of a full 330ml soft drink can which I think is an impressive performance.
