I finally got tired of the fat max not hooking onto my belt, the clip bending, tape measure falling off. Switched over to the g2 and love it. Went back and picked up a spare 16' as well as a 25 and 35' G2.
Thanks for the extensive update! The types you show have never been for sale in the Netherlands, nor is the G2, which is still not for sale in the Netherlands. Had the G1 in 5 and 8 meters and they broke off at 3 centimeters after a few weeks. Greetings from the Netherlands.
I just bought a 2 pack 25 foot G2 at Lowes and they have the raised lettering. I also bought a 16 foot G2 while I was there, also raised lettering. Very nice tapes. June 21, 2023. The Lufkin Shockforce Nite Eye Gen 2
These are such badass tape measures I’ve been fun of by more Forman and shit saying they ain’t good cause it’s not a fat max but he still think it looks dope I think I’ve used both tapes they are great but I do enjoy the gen 2 more
Gen 2 is definitely the way to go! I also work with guys that love the fat max, it's a great tape but I like the shockforce better, I never had anybody say anything to me about not using the fat max though. It's kind of silly to make fun of someone about their tool preference. Use what you like using is what I say!
I’ve had the gen 1 16’ and the blade is creasing at the 2” mark. I do like the size/weight of the gen 1 better. The grit on the blade hook is awesome. Thx for the video!
Got a 16 ft shockforce nite eye gen 1 and 4 Lufkin shockforce g2 got the standard the auto lock magnetic version & nite eye all 25 ft like em so far had my 16 ft since 2018
i was looking at these at lowes. have my fat max xtreme for like 20 years now and i think its time for new. the safety yellow on black, does that seem easier to read in your opinion than a standard black on yellow? you seem to have an eye for detail like myself and you are pretty well though out. seems gimmicky to me but you weem credible and thats the only reason i haven't upgrafed to these yet😅
I thought the same thing when I first saw guys using them, A guy I work with let me use his one day when my tape broke (FAT Max), And to replace my fat max, I went with this tape and have now been using it for about 3 years, I have gone through quite a few, but I really liked the ergonomics and the green on black, and the aggressive end hook. The upgraded version is far better and far more durable than the original, so if you do decide to get one, make sure its the G2.
Fantastic video, and exactly what I was looking for. As good as many of the channels I have watched for a while now. It seems like I am able to get the yellow tape version for less most of the time. Is the Nite Eye (black/green) worth the extra price?

It's called nite eye, because the black background and hi vis markings make it easier to read in low visibility settings. It'd easy on the eyes and I love it
I'm extremely picky about my tapes and this past Friday, 11/4, I bought one of these in a 16' version. I really like Lufkin tapes so I have high expectations for this tape as I'm going to put it through heavy use in my job. My other favorite tapes are the SnapOn TPMA 12 and one that I've had since 2001 that I bought solely for the name at Lowe's and it's "The Big Johnson". I still have it, but I retired it in the 2000s because I could never find another similar and it's definitely one of the best tapes I've ever owned even though I bought it due to it's novelty name. I work in an ambulance manufacturing facility and I'm about to start my 22nd year there and I'm not a fan of a subpar tape, thus why I'm extremely picky about my tapes. On my particular Shockforce G2 it breaks at 13'4" so I'm looking forward to seeing how it performs

Would like to leave this comment for the manufacturer: Why do you call this nite eye? Just because the colors are reversed? Typical tapes have yellow background and black numbers. Nite eye has yellow numbers and black background. So what? You can’t see it at night. Why not make a Generation 3 that includes an LED lite in the housing that shines down the length of the tape like a mini flashlight or glow in the dark numbers? That would be DOPE!
My favourite tape measures. Just need one of these that measures in centimetres 👌

The best tape out there! I got a Klein one and couldn’t stand two days on my work (sewer) this lufkin kicks the fatmax to the dust!

I miss the fat max extreme. I would pay top $$ for another 16' fat max extreme.

Im with you! Im not a fan of subpar tapes either. I have to say, the Gen 2 is a huge improvement over the 1st gen.

Does the gen2 still warp at the end like the gen 1 ?
As far as I can tell and I have been using the gen 2 for quite some time, I have had no issues with the blade in any regard.
