this has to be one of the most entertaining seminars I've seen online ... I know you have done a couple of them through the years but every time I walk away with something new learned under my belt.
I like this guy, down to Earth and not arrogant like many pros can be.

I love this guys work. Simplistic, detailed, and he really hammers in the points over and over that people need to remember.
What I like about this video? He shoots tethered and shows you the results after he changes the lighting between shots.

Watching this video I understand why most studio photographers can't withstand the physical demands of a landscape photographer needs.

I watched the entire video and there are 2 things I'm certain of; my photos will look considerably better while utilizing these techniques and Robert is David Hasselhoff's doppelgänger.
thanks for the excellent class bob (and, of course, b&h). it was explained clearly and nicely demonstrated. i've been getting interested in studio-type photography but had no clue how to get started in lighting. i'm amazed to see how much capability/flexibility can be had with so little equipment (and without breaking the bank). i've added the stuff to my b&h wishlist and i'm gonna get your book.

Thank you Robert for this great tutorial. Clearly shows what is possible with only using a single speed light. As for the super pro's giving all the "expert" critiques I think u forget this was a TUTORIAL not a fashion shoot for a fashion magazine, with a purpose of displaying what can be achieved with minimal gear yet still achieving an end result. One can only ask why it is not you being ask to give a presentation by BNH yet Roberts is........SMH

Amazing how I keep forgetting that photography and lighting can achieve fantastic results by keeping it SIMPLE. Loved this presentation! On a side note...does anyone know why the Rogue Flashbender XL-Pro has been discontinued?? I was all set to buy one :/

The problem with photographers: I can't find a single f'ing video of pro photographers demonstrating anything without someone going "that's bad because, that's false because."

Great teacher! Really stick to the basics. Minimal equipment. No light meter. Really teaching from experience. Goes to show it's not the equipment. It's the guy/girl behind it.

RonDeeKhailOlivia Bob is one of my very favorite photography teachers on youtube. I really appreciated this video, but I have to agree with the comments concerning the model. Rob mentions that the model was nervous, but his actions did nothing to calm her down. He seemed to be the nervous one...or a silly school boy. I certainly look forward to more of his videos.
Good video... I wish the model used a different sweater. The pattern makes it difficult to see the shadows.
The moire was unbelievable and the photographer didn't mentioned at all. Great omission.
+Agnostos Gnostos I think a lot of that was from the video. Viewing the high res versions on the projector wouldn't have looked nearly bad or even non existent depending on projector quality
+Achilleas Labrou - Since you mentioned it, the reason the moire wasn't addressed during the presentation is because it was not present during the event. You are reacting to an effect from the filming of the event. The moire is from the video, not the camera.
do yourself a favor and skip the first 20 minutes.

Yeah, you're not fooling anyone. Look at the brush work on her chin and the retouching on the skin and eyes. The hood/fur is blown.
+diesel828 ??? What do you mean? Her eyes look fine her chin looks fine.. and the hood/fur are blown because they catch more light.. It is complete plausible that this is a SOOC shot..

Super creepy when he told the model he liked her pose at around the 41 min mark. He says "the one with your head tilted forward a little sneaky, like your mom's around the corner and your boyfriends hiding under the bed" SERIOUSLY WHAT THE HECK IS WRONG WITH HIM. Why would he even say anything like that. B and H surely could have edited that out.
+Hub Towner thats just due to upbringing i think. In the south it is virtually impossible to find an older man or woman that doesnt call a young woman hun or honey or sweetie or sweetheart etc. It's simply a friendly way of addressing someone in that culture not a term of endearment necessarily. If you are from that area its not creepy it's just normal.

Hub Towner yeah. It can still be a bit weird though. I rarely notice younger men do it, I do sometimes but usually I am intentionally being condescending, but the weird thing is alot of southern girls do it. So you can meet a girls down south and within 5 minutes of meeting she is referring to you as darlin or sweetheart or babe. It can be very confusing for the guys.
