YOOOOOOO MASAMAN YESSSSS YOU'RE BACK AND WORKING ON CENTRAL AMERICA. AS A SALVADORAN THIS BRINGS ME GREAT JOY , PLEASE CONTINUE! NO ONE DOES IT LIKE YOU.
What a wonderful map!!! I am a Guatemalan Anthropology student and I have been watching your videos for years. They’re actually what inspired me to be an anthropologist, and this is somewhat of a Christmas gift for me to see you make a map of Central America!!! One thing to note is that the term “ladino” is not uniform in its usage, ladinos from the east of Guatemala are way more Spanish than ladinos from the highlands. Just an interesting tidbit! Thank you for keeping the strength to keep going, I love your videos!!
as a guatemalan that loves this channel, i cant express how happy seeing this video in my feed made me. not only are you back you made a video on my region of the world that is usually overlooked by everyone.

Also lagunas de chacaua in mexico is so fucking cool, not sure if its off the beaten path enough for your taste but they are of largely african descent on a delta where a bioluminescent lagun meets the ocean. Its pure magico. Love your channel happy new year!
I can’t imagine loosing years and years of hard work and research just like that. I’d be devastated too if all my own research on my genealogy were to disappear one day. It’s good to see you get back on track.

It’s worth to mention that at least 60% of Costa Ricans share Sephardic ancestry that arrived after the inquisition as jailed people that converted to Christianism. Evidence of this is the findings of Mezuzot and Menorot in the Central Valley mountains of Costa Rica as well as the classic words such as: Descocheró: which means to have something broken or un useful. It is widely used until this day and it comes from the mix of the prefix “des + kosher” where Des is the Castilian form to assign a negative or lacking quality + kosher which in Ladino and Hebrew means pure or correct. Therefore, Deskosherar, deskosheró and Deskosheramos is a verb used in Costa Rica since centuries ago. As well we use the word “jupa” on daily basis as a reference for the head of any living being. This comes from the Hebrew word “Jupá” which is a sacred fabric used in wedding ceremonies on top of the heads (in Hebrew head is Rosh). There are plenty more examples on why Costa Rica had such a different mixture of European ethnic mixtures and it’s said that the reason is due to the fact that the Catholic inquisition couldn’t handle our territory properly and therefore, Sephardic Jews from all over Central America slowly migrated here for a more peaceful living in the new world.
