Sifu David Peterson has always something good to say, he is probably the best explaining Wing Chun, and demonstrating it. Great video, thanks so much to all the ones involved. We here in Costa Rica, a small country in Central America, are training under a Sifu whose Sifu is Po Kin Wah, whose Sifu was Leung Cheung. So, I am a brother greeting you and wishing you all the best!

Very True. That's why I got into Wing Chun. Thank you! We need to have a new generation of a Martial arts actors that will represent traditional martial arts and chinese martial arts. Superstars like Donnie Yen, Jackie Chan, and Jet Li. Are all Semi-retired. Wish they will nurture new talent to keep the movies and traditional martial arts going.

Been thinking of taking up Wing Chun for some time but I'm afraid my lack of strength and talent will hinder my progress and cause sifu to 'lose face' for having an incompetent student. Just for context, I have previously trained in Chinese wushu, but I was a terrible fighter even after training very hard. I was even unable to hold the 'horse stance' (马步) for longer than 2 minutes, and this caused my previous sifu to be extremely frustrated with me. We used to spar each other as part of our training, and I would lose most of the time. I used to be extremely fatigued and exhausted after training, because I was unable to keep up with the high levels of athletic ability required for wushu. In the end, I turned out being my sifu's least favourite student, and this experience has made me worried and uncertain to take up a new martial art.

    • @keanyong3382

I think you're great as u already taken the step to practice martial arts, and that alone experience is priceless. u have found out your strength and weaknesses, maybe wushu is just not suitable for you. Where else Wing Chun is another system that are diff from Wushu, i would say just give it a try. You will never know whether u liked it or not if u don't try it. Keep going and dont give up bro! Hope to hear from you soon!

The Great Sifu David Peterson, Legend Ip Man, and Wong Shun Leung. Wish Hong Kong production company could find someone who is a skilled martial artist like Donnie Yen, to film a biopic of Wong Shun Leung. I think that could definitely revive the Chinese martial arts in China and Hong Kong. But its up to the new generation of younger kids growing up to revive the martial arts in China. I am personally learning Wing Chun, because I am an ABC, and its part of our identity and its the best thing i have ever done. I just finished learning the basics and Sil Lim Tao, and now working on the Chum Kiu form, and then the wooden dummy form. That's hard. Lol!

True Sifu Peterson. Marvel has been working on writing about the live action "Shang Chi" film maybe they will use Wing Chun and all types of other martial arts to inspire a new generation of kids, young adults, and seniors to be inspired to take a traditional martial art. Sifu Sammo Hung has been recently talking about a lack of action and martial arts successor whom can take the spots of Jackie Chan, Donnie yen, and jet li. Lack of new generation of successors. As a Chinese american, sifus and masters have inspired me to study the martial arts and now I have training in wing Chun. I have stuck with my culture since birth but cannot find a great wing Chun instructor now I have and I am currently working on my Chun kiu form and wooden dummy form. Hopefully everyone will bring the Chinese arts back.

Wing Chun is an extremely fragmented style. As it was usual with family kung fu styles, the full range of the techniques were not taught to all students and were kept for the members of the Leung family only. So now we have some Wing Chun without proper lap sao, without proper chi sao, no ground fight, no chi geuk, no weapon training, and no -what was most often kept from students- proper footwork. Add that the Wing Chun name , thanks to Bruce Lee has quite some commercial value to it, and you get the mess Wing Chun is today. The Wing Chun war saw Bruce Lee expelled from Yip Man's school, saw the feud between Leung Ting a " closed door student" and Yip Chun, and of course the incident when Leung Ting's student Emin Bonztepe beat up William Cheung. A sad tale of money grabbing and back stabbing.

You simply can't fight with that kind of clumsy footwork. No one will do chi sau with him and he can't close the distance. How good are you at badminton? @@trumplostlol3007perhaps your knowledge and level of awareness of Ving Tsun, does not allow you to grasp anything beyond what you have seen and think that you know.
The map is not the terrain.
Ving Tsun is designed to be deadly, it is not a sport to show off ones false ego, for bravado and points, it is primarily founded on ethics and Nobility, to be able to defend oneself and others where and when necessary, am sure there is so much more to Ving Tsun than you have seen on a few videos, or has been revealed to you in person......it's all about respect.... something that is earned, or a lesson one needs to learn, perhaps you are too young in psychological maturity to be able to grasp and understand...as you wish to compare Ving Tsun with any other martial art as a from of entertainment.....if you're interested in fighting and sport in one upmanship to win over another to boost false ego, perhaps stick to boxing or something similar that suits your taste and let Ving Tsun be.....your level of provoking is not going to get you anywhere with Ving Tsun....a student is taught according to their humility and capacity to receive.... With all due respect and honour, be well bro 🤜🤚
In real Ving Tsun the best line of defense is attack, even before the other has a chance to land a hit, attack like a Tiger about to pounce on the weakest spots, a finger stab to eye, or throat, or groin to completely end the fight with one hit as fast as possible, no fancy moves, no long drawn out play, just direct and deadly, due to the high level of training in one who has mastered the art, they may hold back from such action, hence your reaction.... Many have tried to train in Ving Tsun to fight, yet they are not representative of masters of the art.....Peace 🤜🤚

It is not liek what u seen in movies badass moves etc. Other forms of martial arts have their forms and style as well as advantage and disadvantage in a fight. There might be a lot of people using these streams to gain money, and others some do it because of their love for wing chun itself, like Sifu David Peterson. One day when rolling one student grabbed my elbows and pushed me towards a window on the 3rd floor and i nearly went through it, so i gave off about and they took it that he beat me lol couldn't believe it. Also the other instructors were shite as well. One day a boxer came in to spar the best student and it was embarrassing. The student then left the school and started boxing.
I taught wing chun and became seriously disenchanted, its lterally full of frauds. To noobs iwouldnt do this style unless its is for a hobby, not for fighting, kickboxing or muay thai for striking and either judo of bjj for the rest. Peace.
