In todays video i will show you Best way to clean o2 sensors
if you willing to clean your cars oxygen sensor: Watch this before cleaning oxygen sensor, and also i will be answering some of your questions: should we use anti seize on oxygen sensor? can we clean oxygen sensor with ultrasonic cleaner
so i will cover all that in this video - Авто та транспорт
That is cute how your sensor is so easily accessible.
Im a guy. My butt is cute. I got asz like j-lo. No homo. Juss sayn.
Right😂😂😂
😂
I'm not sure about you guys , but the ones I take out mostly are rusted to **** and better off putting a new one in, THEN only to find it was a mass air flow or something else that now is reading bad. Time for the parts cannon!
Haha good old parts cannon
the one i took off was white it looked like leftover charcoal
Half the time you need to replace the cat
@@reesepinckney355 i deleted my cats😂
Hahaha you got me on the parts cannon
No amount of clean is going to fix a bad heating element in an O2 sensor.
It’s not about fixing it It’s about keeping it
@@unmarti2high273 if it's bad why would you want to keep it?
Not all types have a heating element
The problem with O2 sensors is not that they get dirty, usually a full throttle drive burns off the carbon. They usually fail because the ceramique cracks inside.
What is ceramique??? Let's try ceramic....
No its careamiq
I like to cut off the tip, use a wire wheel on high speed to clean the inside, and then weld the tip back on. 10/10
🤣
I send mine to the dry cleaner
Tossed mine in the washing machine this morning.
Also my favorite practice, especially on a 01 Mercedes V12 with 8 o2 sensors.
That’s really odd!
If an o2 is acting up making you think it needs cleaning. It just needs to be replaced. And the elements inside are so sensitive that by using an ultrasonic cleaner you may damage them anyways. Just replace them
O2 sensors are very much in temperature and vibration stress, if they couldn't handle a cleaner they'd be gone by two weeks by the temperature changes 😂😂
Best tip for ultrasonic cleaner is to fill them with water and put the thing you want to clean in a jar with the cleaning solution, that way the cleaner stays clean and istnt soaked in gasolin. You can also put multiple jars in
Best tip! If I had a ultra sonic cleaner 😭. I'll be sure to keep this tip in my mind always!
a separate jar with cleaning solution put into the cleaner tray?
And also you won’t have an open container of highly flammable liquid while it’s cleaning so your way is safer
Maybe 1 year ago i saw someone clean an o2 sensor with acetone. I tried it and i do not now if something was cleaned, but the sensor did not stop working or get damage. It was one 5 wire wideband o2 sensor.
3 ways to kill a good O2 sensor
He is type of the guy who gives u “ fixed” car even more broke
Is it? Can u explain, because I was about to try it on my car
@@masoodakram1950 you don't apply any liquid substances to the tip of the sensor before putting it back in the car as it will block the sensor.
agree, more broken.
Clearest gas I've ever seen
#1 tip never use anything else EXCEPT a Socket designed for oxygen sensors. They're really stuck. You mess this up, you in big trouble. I can't believe such people misguide those who don't know a lot. smh!
This is why I read the comments
LOL I had to use a big pipe wrench on one.
I had to buy the specific socket for o2 sensors lol, and I recommend taking it off when the engine is warm, and using a breaker bar if it’s too difficult to take off
Yeah, this guy is wrong. You can use a regualr wrench. Just make sure the car is hot. I just did this on an 03 CRV with a regular wrench. Had the thing swapped out in less than 5 minutes. Trying to get the wiring harness unplugged was more difficult.
A box end wrench works just FINE
Yeah clean them when their not to old or low quality Parts
But personally believe if u suspect that's its bad u should replace it be because if u don't It could cost u your catalytic converters very expensive and may have to be welded on
And could cause other major problems as well
Or use the never seize
very sparingly and skip the first 1.5-2 threads near the sensor. But sensor safe would be better. Just never seen it advertised as such and haven’t read the entire permeated bottle back.
Never seen a resurrected O2 sensor with any cleaning methods . Need new one!
The best was to CLEAN them is to S**T can them in the garbage and buy NTK or DENSO, regain some fuel mileage & drivability. And maybe stop being so damn CHEAP! 😂
Starting fluid and steel wool but the only thing that cleaning them will fix is if they are carbon up . And if that is the case your fuel mixture is to rich and needs fixed or someone has ran 2cycle premixed fuel in the vehicle and your catalytic converter is probably bad from the oil contamination
Next video show us how to clean a used engine oil filter.
Step one... Use dish soap with vinegar
Lol
I thought WD-40 is a silicone based cleaner. Spraying silicone on an oxygen sensor is a sure fire was to destroy the O2 sensor.
WD-40 is petroleum based.
A new O2 sensor is like $40. Stopping being cheap and trying fix broken parts 😂😂
I just bought one recently and it cost me $360 aud
Semiconductors don't get cleaned: They get replaced
@@Neverenoughpyro400 that’s a pcb not a silicon chip
Están limpiando la parte externa. No la interna
This is a tech guy with more money then brains. You can see he has the fancy box, and every spray you can buy. But instead of buying a new sensor for cheap af he cleans it.
Where do they do this at?
Those dohickeys can vost over 120€
They are NOT "cheap af".... But YES, you REPLACE them, NOT "clean" them.
Good Lord absolutely none of that is accurate
Why not? You should explain your claim or don't write at all
@@saultube44 because anyone that actually knows what they are doing and has a brain knows it is useless to clean an o2 sensor, clearly you can visually see that what he did made absolutely zero difference, well actually he did do one thing and that was ruin it when he had it pointing up and sprayed cleaner in it, that will destroy most sensors real quick! O2 sensors either work or they are bad, if by slim chance one is acting goofy “cleaning” it ain’t gonna do shit because it would be an internal issue!
@@thisoldshtbox3626 Just more claims and confirmation bias; people like you know little and have bigmouth
@@saultube44 well, he used carb cleaner, which is the most agressive cleaner out there. O2 sensors usually fail in the heater, which no cleaner will fix that failure. If it is a reading dtc, i could try to clean it, but most of the time is just replacing it.
@@RGV2300 I checked with Scotty Kilmer videos and yes, AFAIK he talks about Onli about replacing them, not even mention cleaning them, so it must be true 👍

But was it malfunctioning and did this prevent purchasing a new one did it work ??? We’ll never know
cleaning a O2 Senwor it's a 50/50 chance.
sometimes it might worth trying
Did this with my old 97 Nissan pulsar, had a faulty O2 sensor that was partially working, still ecu regarded as dead, doing this clean, well made it break completely and ecu actually threw CEL so knew needed replacing 😅
"Дохлому припарки"... Only new sensor!
I wonder if it wasnt working prior to cleaning, and if it made any difference in voltages and fuel trim. I guess the video is only about cleaning the sensor i guess.
how to check a O2 sensor .... take it out , connect a needle type volt meter to it, use a propane plumbing torch and fan the flame on the tip , the voltage should immediately move with the flame, if it don't its bad
There's a special made socket for removing/installing O2 sensors.
I never use it, i just use a 22 mm wrench.
@@RGV2300
I've had instances where an open end wrench slips and strips the hex nut on seized up sensors...finally gave in and bought the socket. It was only $8...👍
@@raybin6873 i've had instances when the socket doesn't even comfortably fit, so i ended up using the wrench.
Fyi, you can use carb cleaner as alternative if you not have wd40
The best way to clean a oxygen sensor is with a propane torch while measuring the voltage high and low voltages as wel as the transition time.
So we all have ultra sonic cleaners sitting around lol 😆 also the cost of all of that equals that of a o2 sensor and replace with brand new call it a day go through all that only to still have a code afterwards 😅🤣😂
You can also clean injectors and jewelry
The only guy in the world who cleans O2 sensors. Interesting hobby. Thanks for the video.
That won't fix it. I can assure you and if you get a low voltage code you can clean it as much as you like but the problem will still be there. As for the stuff that's being used a very small amount of anti seize will do and to add to this always make sure the car is warmed up before slackening the O2 sensor. It goes along way
Forget cleaning it I want to know how it removed hat easy.
Kinda blogger's magic ✨.
Because he takes it out every other week to "clean it" when the code comes back, instead of just doing it the proper way and replacing it, getting rid of the code for good.
That's how....
You make a good point about using anti seize
O2 sensors aren’t much and are VERY important to you car (especially the upstream that monitors air fuel mixture) just replace them when they act up. Cleaning is going to damage the heating element anyways
This shop asked me they could weld my o2 sensors in and it took me a minute to process if I was actually talking to a human. Then I no joke responded: please don't. In a concerned voice lol
😂🤣😅
Come to Chicago and let's see you get it out with it rust welded on. 🤣🤣🤣
If your sensor is bad your sensor is bad replacement is a must.
If you can afford a damn hypersonic cleaner you can just buy a new oxygen sensor lol
You DON'T "clean them", you REPLACE them... 🙄
I know ed20 eninge Daihatsu move i used to just give it the burner flame till it burned of all the oil that was dumped on it cos we struggel to get parts in sa so overhaul eninge here us $10000 this is a 3 cylinder 1000 cc eninge parts here for this car mostly agents only 3 to six months waiting period after u paid only in south Africa In us new eninge cost about 1000 bucks but they dont export to sa
If I get it out of the vehicle without cutting it out I call it a win and buy myself a new one
Great video on how to clean it, but it is never gonna come out of a car over 10 yrs old that easy, thanks for the video though.
That works if you can get the sensor out without destroying it. Sometimes going new is better. Heat cycles are bad on parts. Resistance change.
Oxygen sensors no need cleaning. You just cleaned the metal cage for beauty purposes that protects the ceramic element that creates the milivolts when reacting chemically with exhaust gases
Oh wow I'll make sure to do this to my customers cars so they will come back a month later
loyal customers should have visited you weekly 😂😂😂
@@Techie1224 do you honestly think that as a customer, you would want to visit the shop once a week? Because guarantee after the second visit, they'll be going somewhere else
There's a bit of ceramic in there that basically breaks every time you take it out. Just save time and BUY A NEW ONE. Literally like 25$ for the upstream and downstream
Or just buy a new o2 sensor because you just spent the same amount on the wd-40 and carb spray and whatever that liquid is and the power for the thingy magiger
Yeah let me just get my ultrasonic thing and I'll clean them.
they sell em on amazon
yeah the internals of the o2 sensor is what fails 99% of the time and spraying carb cleaner on a good o2 sensor will kill it EVERY TIME.
Who cleans a o2 sensor / air fule ratio sensor
Hello brother
I don't know whether I'll get reply or not
But i have one serious problem
In my corolla 2008 1zz-fe
I am from india
After cleaning my both o2 sensors my car is popping too much.
I think it's getting rich A/F mixture
How to solve this problem?
I have thinkdiag scanner in which there is one function called reset A/F should i do it or should i check my fuel average first?
Last time I did an o2 sensor it was $25 for a new one. Why clean something that cheap
Mine it's 60
Mine was 750 through Honda. Got it for 140 at O'Reilly.
Oxigen sensors are basically like batteries, ones they are worn out you need to replace it , can polish the part if you want, it will not work
Gas in an ultrasonic cleaner, sounds like a good way for someone thats not too bright to burn their house down, while attempting this in their garage. Just by a new one, if it fails usually thats a sign that something is not right with the combustion process in your engine, too much fuel and burning oil makes them black and leaves carbon deposits inside making it faulty and eventually frying the element inside, my Miata had the same original o2 sensors from the factory in 1992 and it still passed smog in California before I sold it a few months ago.
How is Carby cleaner ok but then use sensor safe anti sieze. Wouldn't the carby clean mess it up
Replace, always replace. Both sensors and spark plugs. Cleaning doesn't work
Best asmr i ever saw
If only it were really this easy to take an o2 sensor off in real life😂
Or… just buy a new one…
Also I want to know what god damn o2 sensor has that good access…
My first car had one that was right there on the manifold and one of the easiest O2 sensors I've ever pulled. It was a 1982 Toyota Corolla RWD 😆
Just about every fwd I've ever seen
Don't use an ultrasonic cleaner with your part physically touching the bottom.
It causes cavitation which will microscopically damage the parts making them rougher.
This is especially important for things like bearings.
Cavitation is the way that Ultrasonic cleaners clean. Having it touching the bottom doesn’t actually have any affect on the cleaning aspect, but the micro vibrations hitting against the hard bottom may cause some unwanted wear. If that’s what you mean.
The way I clean them is hold them up to the Sun light and examine them open the garbage can and drop them in for further cleaning
Thank u. Bro
Welcome
As a professional mechanic, it pains me so much to see shit like this all I’ve the internet and people believe and fall for it and try the shit themselves. If you don’t know what you’re doing, please just take it to a mechanic, or ask someone for help who actually knows. This won’t fix your O2 sensor, just buy a new one.
People need to understand that O2 sensors are wear items. they WILL fail at some point regardless of how much you clean them. It's a fine wire that over time just wear out. cleaning it won't help. just replace. I get at least 3-4 yeras outta every O2 sensor and that's pretty normal on a car with 244K miles on it.
I have an AEM wideband, and the sensor isn't that expensive. Lol with these gas prices u prolly spent more cleaning it than getting a new one
02 sensors are not that expensive just buy new ones
Lmao 200 a 02 sensor is cheap? My bad baller
@@eviltwo7950 me personally yes I'll replace every time.
Yes, you have Dacia my bad, it's normal it's cheap.
@@eviltwo7950 Man $200? Always cost me around $30 a sensor on my vehicles. Depending on the brand I go with anywhere from $30-$45ish
@@ConnorDonahoe2712 idk what car u guys drive but i have a g37 which has 2 02 sensors that cost 200$ each with tax
Then you realize the part is worth a little more than the carb cleaner that does nothing to help it in the first place
Put anti seize on the thread not in the sensor
What kind of this u poul in ultrasound tank ?
My solution was to remove them completely as well as the smog pump, recirculation pipes, wiring loom, EGR, charcoal box and swap the valve covers for dual breathers.
Gasoline clean everything
Using petrol (gas) in an ultrasonic cleaner is extremely dangerous and a terrible idea. Do not do this. I suppose we shouldn’t expect anything less from someone recommending to clean O2 sensors instead of replacing them, not to mention using carb cleaner on sensors, and using an open ended spanner instead of a socket. Also WD40 is terrible as a penetrating oil.
I had a code for my O2 sensor, I drove the car near empty on gas and filled it full with Shell V-Power Nitro+. After some miles of driving, it cleared the code. Did a 2nd fill up after also. If this didn't work, just replace the sensor.
That's not how any of that works. It cleared the code because your sensors ran all their tests again and found that the fault was no longer there. And your check engine light only comes on for emissions related things. The main causes for o2 sensor codes are exhaust leaks and then bad fuel trims.
Might be just me but if a sensor is dirty I say just replace it after a while it’s going to be a problem anyway just put a new one in 🤷🏾♂️
Jus cut the cat off lol
How do you know if the anti-seize is sensor safe?
I read the carb cleaner as car horn cleaner the first time it popped up
WD-40 is not good as a penetrating oil, wd40 is good in Rust proofing things. There are loads of better penetrating oil. Like PB Blaster.
WD = water displacement

how can i get that viberate machine type??
Orrrrr just put a tiny bit of anti seize on the threads so it’s not leaking? I’ve never even seen anti seize leak like that in general
I FOUND THAT AFTER ALL MY OWN RESEARCH THAT, NOTHING BETTER THAN SWAPPED FOR A NEW ONE.......
If you're already taking it out, just replace the dang thing!
Lacetti f18d3?
I've never took out and clean a Af or 02 sensor if the sensor failed replace it I just want to know if anyone have ever done this I'm a Toyota technician it's usually the heating circuit that fails and this will not fix it
Dude no. Don't put flammable liquids in an ultrasonic bath, and never let parts or immersed containers touch the actual tub. The basket is there for a reason bro you gonna pit the tub and break the transducer (and possibly your parts depending on fragility).
Oh cool let me pull out my ultrasonic cleaner
