    Gas in an ultrasonic cleaner, sounds like a good way for someone thats not too bright to burn their house down, while attempting this in their garage. Just by a new one, if it fails usually thats a sign that something is not right with the combustion process in your engine, too much fuel and burning oil makes them black and leaves carbon deposits inside making it faulty and eventually frying the element inside, my Miata had the same original o2 sensors from the factory in 1992 and it still passed smog in California before I sold it a few months ago.

    Don't use an ultrasonic cleaner with your part physically touching the bottom.
    It causes cavitation which will microscopically damage the parts making them rougher.
    This is especially important for things like bearings.

    • @josiahdegroot5341
      @josiahdegroot5341 Рік тому

      Cavitation is the way that Ultrasonic cleaners clean. Having it touching the bottom doesn’t actually have any affect on the cleaning aspect, but the micro vibrations hitting against the hard bottom may cause some unwanted wear. If that’s what you mean.

    As a professional mechanic, it pains me so much to see shit like this all I’ve the internet and people believe and fall for it and try the shit themselves. If you don’t know what you’re doing, please just take it to a mechanic, or ask someone for help who actually knows. This won’t fix your O2 sensor, just buy a new one.

  • @TheOneJPtv

    People need to understand that O2 sensors are wear items. they WILL fail at some point regardless of how much you clean them. It's a fine wire that over time just wear out. cleaning it won't help. just replace. I get at least 3-4 yeras outta every O2 sensor and that's pretty normal on a car with 244K miles on it.

    Using petrol (gas) in an ultrasonic cleaner is extremely dangerous and a terrible idea. Do not do this. I suppose we shouldn’t expect anything less from someone recommending to clean O2 sensors instead of replacing them, not to mention using carb cleaner on sensors, and using an open ended spanner instead of a socket. Also WD40 is terrible as a penetrating oil.

  • @renegadeGM
    @renegadeGM 2 роки тому +2

    I had a code for my O2 sensor, I drove the car near empty on gas and filled it full with Shell V-Power Nitro+. After some miles of driving, it cleared the code. Did a 2nd fill up after also. If this didn't work, just replace the sensor.

    • @michaelmazula4188
      @michaelmazula4188 2 роки тому

      That's not how any of that works. It cleared the code because your sensors ran all their tests again and found that the fault was no longer there. And your check engine light only comes on for emissions related things. The main causes for o2 sensor codes are exhaust leaks and then bad fuel trims.
