Yes, those doorknobs with the tiny pink flowers are porcelain. I have a set in my bedroom.
i love this book, i bought it off shirley myself when i visited her house years and years ago! she has other books that are great too, Vibrant watercolours is fab!
Wow lucky you Michelle! Your channel was recommended me in the comments here, your artwork and style are lovely!
Irit Landgraf thank you 😊 I love your channel, it’s great that we can support each other and share what we do! Happy painting 😊
Thank you and absolutely!
Thank you for sharing this beautiful ,book,I totally feel what you are saying,I love your palette, and look forward to your flip and play
Thanks Dawn! Glad to hear!!
I enjoyed your flip through Irit :) please dont feel like you have to apologize for your kids
Lol thanks! I had a comment once telling me it sounded like they were being tortured or something and distracting, so I feel now the need to reassure ;)
What a stunning book. Thank you for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed Claire!
I was very excited to see you review Shirley Trevena's book, I have both of her books, several magazine articles and several pages from where she has been represented in compilation type books. I tell any one who will stand still long enough about her and encourage people to look her up. I am also a self taught watercolourist and also keep trying to emulate her work. It was such a joy to see you with her book, believe me you will enjoy the hard copy far more than an e-book - when I read either of her books I do so with a yellow highlighter in my hand and enjoy making my own side note comments - which is half the fun of owning your own book!! She has a third book which, I think, is more of a gallery type with little text but through all of these other sources mentioned above I have most of her work represented and my scottish/Canadian mindset couldn't rationalize the extra $$'s. Despite that I am so, so happy to "meet" another Shirley Trevena enthusiast!
Haha Barbara sign me up for the Shirley enthusiasts society! I'm so happy I picked up both of her books and may very well get the third one at some point. Her work is incredibly inspiring, and her story too! Thanks for commenting take care ♥️♥️
Just got her book today! Can't wait to delve into it.
It’s the fourth book that is a retrospective, the third book is Breaking the Rules of Watercolour......and is published by Batsford..and its gorgeous! She also has lots on Pinterest
I bought this book, and it is so inspirational!! I now have a million new ideas I am so excited to play with! Really wonderful stuff!
I'm glad to hear, I loved it too!
Gorgeous book! Can't wait to hear about the liquid schmincke paint. Love vibrant colors... OOXXOO Linda
Thanks Linda, glad you enjoyed!
Thank you for showing this book. I ordered it before seeing your video and can’t wait for it. I think it would be fun if we Shirley Trevena fans had maybe a Facebook page to share what we have done inspired by her style and by studying her works.
You are so welcome!
Hello Irit, TFS it looks like such an interesting book . Loved your chat about your childhood bedroom. My room was in the softest pinks and grey/silvers and I loved it and I stencilled (! Yes it was the 80’s) colourful butterflies on my furniture! and then I moved out and thought myself to grown up for that combination and it’s now so on trend ... trends do come and go and back again... Looking forward to seeing more of your videos they are like little happy and colourful escapes which we all need at the moment. Thank you. 💕🌈 Valérie xx
Thank you Valérie ! Makes me happy to read!!
always fun
Thank you ❤️😀
I’m not sure how I missed this video but her art is beautiful. That landscape is perfection Irit. “ I do what I like” is great way to live for women. I’m thinking about ordering this.
I just got Atmospheric Flowers by Jean Haines today in mail. It’s breathtaking. I’ve been trying to paint like her today. Haha. So fun. Also trying to hunt down Painting the natural way by Charle Reid’s. He draws and paints human figures in loose beautiful way. Teoh yi chie does a flip thru of this book on his channel.
Yes Susan, Shirley's books and philosophy is very inspiring, I loved this one and am now in the middle of the other one I got. I'm also currently reading Jean Haines Atmospheric flowers! Really enjoying it. And lastly, yes, I've also tried to find Charles Reid's books, they are not that easy to come by, at least here in Europe, I'm very drawn to his style too!
Looks like an interesting and fun book. I am as addicted to books as I am to art supplies!
I love that violet/lavender color as well. I can see why you wanted that furniture! What is a good brand/pigment of watercolor that is close to that color? Be well.
Thanks Renee! I think somewhere between lavender (several brands offer) and wisteria/lilac you'll find this exact match 😉
This book😎
You should see the technic of the powdered pencil in actin. It’s magical. Search Michelle krall watercolor on UA-cam. She paints so vibrantly and freely.
Thanks Dawn! I will check her out!
I'm currently reading Putting People in Your Paintings by Laurel Hart.
And Calvin? Do you like it?
@@iritlandgraf yeah, I really like it... I'm trying to chase that colorful style for a while now, that book and Laurel Hart youtube channel help me quite a bit.
Good to know! I'll check it out!
thank you so much for your Daniel Smith Jean Haines set review Irit 🤗 my set arrived this week and you are absolutely spot on they are all so lovely to work with so just wanted to say a thank you. Hope that you’re staying sane with having the children home and home schooling during the lockdown? Thank goodness you have your studio/ She shed/watercolour sanctuary so you can escape and relax 🤗🤗ps is this artist the same woman who did a sample Daniel Smith dot card? Jacksons stock the 18 dot card and i think it may have collated it 🤗
Thank you for your lovely comment! I'm so glad you're happy with the set, I love using it as a limited palette, it's so good!
Home school is a challenge, I'm glad my youngest is only 4 so we have kindergarten activities 😉 yes I escape to my space now and then lol. Thank you again for taking the time to write, take care and stay safe!
Oh I don't know about a dot card, sorry! Would be interesting if it was by her, she had a great sense of color!
Like hearing your children in background They won’t kill each other. I have experience lol. The book is beautiful. Page T
Haha thanks Page!
The book seems very inspirational with lovely colours. We have an amazing watercolour artist in Sweden called Lars Lerin. Check him out if you want some more inspiration at sandgrund.org/ .
Thanks for the recommendation!
The hand waving in front of the camera is very distracting away from the book
Such beautiful colours, had to order it. Should probably unsubscribe, you are costing me too much money ;-)
Lol sorry!!
