If only all birds in captivity had the dedication and love that Max's Dad has. I don't think people comprehend how much work these birds are and they aren't solely for entertainment or to hear them talk
Max, Dan has to go to the washing machine periodically so he can wash all of the fabric items that you pooped on. You need to have a little patience. Just because you haven't seen Dan for 5 seconds, doesn't mean you're never gonna see him again. Take a chill pill, Buddy, and have a little faith.

Max is about as bad as my 15 y/o toy poodle. He argues with me every night. Thinks his fool $ss has to be in bed by 6pm. He'll sit there and argue with me until I finally give in. Sometimes I can persuade him to stay up longer by loving up on him for a few minuets. But I've spoken too soon...I just heard him gruffing under his breath. That's means he's disgusted with me, LOL. He'll get over it. I luv Max...he's so cool. I had always wanted a bird like him (had 2 cockatiels for yrs), but they're so expensive...being single I could never afford to buy one. Now I'm married and too old to get one. s/he would out live me!
Agree with Luna. Max's vocalizations have the cadence and physical gesture of very expressive human speech. Max communicates so much with his cadence and gesture. We can enjoy and understand Max's talk if we take it as a parrot "foreign" language. Subtitles would provide only a distracting and inaccurate "translation".
