Given the departure time of your flight, I'm not surprised about the first meal. Some airlines will do their smaller meal service first if the depart 11pm or later and make breakfast their larger option. Great video!
Thanks for showing us KLM PE, i fly alot HKG-AMS route with Cathay. I must say after seeing this video the difference is quite big. On cathay they offer hot meal after take off (11pm departure)
Booked KLM premium economy in Jan. 25. Having watched this I certainly hope the seat it self is worth twice as much economy. that is all I'll be getting.
Well since you we're on a red-eye flight, they had to simplify the meal service for maximum rest for the passengers themselves as they do have to pass through multiple time zones while inflight..
I use to fly KLm back in 2014 but the service as terrible and foods weren’t that great. It seems to me that KLm has a long way to go to improve catering offering hot meals then a cold meal. Shocking meal after take off. I use to fly with Finnair from Hong Kong to Helsinki and they served a piece of bread for breakfast which was shocking for long flight not a hot breakfast offer upon landing. I complained about it then they changed their meal service. KLM I will not be using avoiding too. Air Fran isn’t that bad but I prefer Cathay Pacific , Finnair, Lufthansa and Swiss will be my main long haul carrier in future.
I think its a really good product, that main meal appealed to me, but that's just good luck. Not good design. There should be a second option - like on most economy flights?
Flew KLM Premium Economy from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur in January this year which was OK, not special but alright, however, it was not the actual flight which has soured my opinion of KLM it was their service. I had also booked flights from Birmingham to Amsterdam going out and Amsterdam to Birmingham on the return leg, 24 hours before the flight they advised me that the Birmingham to Amsterdam flight had been cancelled due to technical issues, bull shit. To make my connection to Kuala Lumpur I had to travel from Worcester to Heathrow, overnight in a hotel and meals, on the return leg the Flight from Kuala Lumpur to Amsterdam was over an hour late arriving and when I rushed through to catch my connecting flight to Birmingham again that was cancelled which meant a 12 hour wait in Amsterdam before I could get home, when I complained no apology so for-me KLM definitely off my future long haul travel plans.

Home to Birmingham airport, and reverse on my return all went from certainty to uncertainty in one email with 24 hours notice, it’s history now but as I indicated I will never consider KLM in the future.

This evening meal was ridiculous. So was the wine list..cheap, cheap, cheap. And they are not better in Business Class. Its an airline to be avoided, if you can. Positive: the crews are usually nice.

Seems like a matter of personal preference :)) But all my flights leaving around 11pm (even a 2:00am departure once) have always offered a full hot dinner after takeoff, so that's why I thought it was unusual. Thanks for watching!

I flew Qatar Airways from Hong Kong to Doha last year and the departure time was at midnight and there were a dinner service after take off

Odd that there would be no main meal choice, I would expect that in economy but not an elevated class.
If i have to fly more then 7 ours , i will go for Emeraits . My opinion they are the best . !!!!!!!
