Make some blade baits out of extruded aluminum that way they don't sink to the bottom right away you can pull them slower and they still work the same and they're just as tough as anything else
I think he should call Marling Baits and have him make a bunch of blade baits out of different materials to see what works better for whatever depth he is fishing.
I find enjoyment whenever I watch any of your videos. You should do a fish with a fan contest. That would be awesome. I for one would try my damndest lol
@@tommymeadows6990 yes I know they are not the same. I use skipjack herring religiously for catfishing along with shad as that's what's available in my waters.....but if I'm able to get out to a state that has goldeye I love to gather up some to freeze back home and use it as well.
Definitely a skipjack herring. They are super plentiful on the Tennessee River and make for awesome catfish bait. I usually use a sibiki rig to target them. I have a whole freezer full right now. 😂
Yeah sibiki rigs with a 4 ounce while anchored can put 100 fish in the Boat within an hour easy sometimes especially with 4 guys and 8 poles out it gets hectic with the shad here in California 💪🏼
Between the two of you and Boo, I really enjoy the way you fish. Without all the special ed challenges. Ben is great too, lots of good info and entertainment. Thanks
We have those skipjack herring here in western Ky. We catch them at Barkley and Kentucky lake dams and use them for blue cat bait. You can get 40-50 in an hour when they’re biting. Double and triple up sometimes. It’s a good time.

I can’t believe you have never tried fishing for catfish using skip jacks as the bait!!! Well I promise you will definitely love using it after trying it for the first time!!!!!
That is definitely a Skipjack Herring it's just larger than I'm probably used to those Skipjack are some of the best blue cat bate ever however I would like to try gold eye if you had a silver folly spoon right now I think you would be amazed 👍🏿
8:27 About 50 years ago I was fishing in the Mississippi river below lock and dam #22. I caught a couple of 5 lb. what they called, "Jack Salmon." Found out years later, that's what they call Walleye.
If you ever get around southern Indiana, you should let me take you to the Falls of the Ohio hydros and dam. If the gates are open at the dam, and the current is ripping, there's no telling what you could catch. I caught my first Bowfin this year. There's a few creeks and small rivers that feed the Ohio that are can have great fishing to.
I just fished there about a month ago for the first time.. I've been back 3 times now and it's almost a 3hr trip from where I'm in Howard county!! Lol. Which isn't much but a total of 6 hrs of travel plus if it's hot as balls down there, well I don't have to say anymore. You know!! 🤣

The American shad and Hickory shad we have in my area live in saltwater all year except they run up the rivers to spawn for about 3 weeks in the spring. Then they go back to the ocean. I don't think they can survive in freshwater for long.
