- Toby just LOVES being a dad. I have never seen him popcorn so much until little Sky came into his life :) He takes his dad duties very seriously, washing Sky, making nests for Sky and generally watching over her. Bay is the ginger mouse, Toby's female companion.

No, WASHING. They wash themselves and each other, I love to watch them though. I use to have pet mice when I was a kid. They are sweet little things.

For mice? These guys are like elite millionaires. Living in a house like that, heated, all the food they want, comfortable. Heck yeah. Compare that to a street mouse, living in a cold hole, eating junk.

I love the setup that you have for their home. Its really cool. Even in your other video when the baby was small and you was trying to feed her, that castle thing was awesome. Animals truly live better than humans. (I am saying this as my Blue Nose Pitbull dog is spread out sleeping on my bed. Hes a Lucky dog)

+CreekValleyCritters I had one baby mouse that I had to put with a rat foster mother who had a litter his age (he was not doing well with his real mother who had a REALLY large litter, and he was not getting fed and slowly starving...) He was so cute with the rats... The rat mother took him right in, and he lived with the rats and grew HUGE, I've seriously never seen a bigger mouse... I think he was trying to catch up to the 'other' rats in his litter... his 'mother' always liked to baby him even after he grew up... She'd clean him and occasionally try to bring him to a nest she had made for him and stuff like that... He seemed quite happy, though...
Imprinting is very easy in small mammals, birds do it sometimes.
***** The strong parental instincts that most mammals and birds have lead them to appreciate an infant's 'cuteness'... They have a natural urge to nurture and protect things that remind them of their own young, and this can easily lead to imprinting on young of other species, especially since infant mammals and birds across species share a lot of the 'cute' features that trigger these parental responses (relatively short extremities, relatively large head, relatively large eyes, etc..).
There are even cases of lionesses taking care of antelope fauns and protecting them from other lions (although I'm guessing she probably wasn't very hungry when she first encountered it, or I doubt that imprinting would have had much of a chance to happen).

I have one mouse of my own and your videos really encourages me to buy more. And I just had to save my mouse from be fed to snakes (she was a feeder mouse) also unlike the other mice she was calm and she didn't jump when you tried to pick her up. She was The sweetest mouse I ever bought.
