Varda Capsule Reentry - Five Minutes from LEO to Earth
Вставка
- Опубліковано 27 лют 2024
- Varda Space Industries’ spacecraft, W-1, successfully landed at the Utah Test and Training Range on February 21, 2024. This marks the first time a commercial company has landed a spacecraft on United States soil.
A camera installed inside W-1 captured the entire reentry in this first-of-its-kind video.
You’ll witness W-1 orbiting Earth in LEO, smooth separation from Rocket Lab’s satellite bus, and its trajectory as it reenters Earth’s atmosphere at speeds over Mach 25 before safely deploying its parachute and landing.
This successful launch and reentry was possible through Varda Space Industries’ partnership with Rocket Lab, SpaceX, the U.S. Air Force, NASA, and the FAA.
Space is open for manufacturing.

This is one of the coolest space videos i have ever seen.
Mars lander perseverance way better much more complicated.
The dynamic range on that camera is wild. Going from pure black space with visible stars, to pointing directly at the Sun, without a noticeable change in exposure. Bonkers.
Those weren't stars. More likely some debris from separation. (Or satellites?) You can see the parallax effect on the closer/further dots, which you wouldn't see with stars.
I think the 'stars' are bits of debris. They're not moving uniformly
I want to know what camera that is...
It's just a camera that does not run on network, meaning it's built for world war 3@@RazsterTW
this is Hauwaiie S25 Max Camera.

Just amazing view 😲
Fabulous video. Thanks. It would be even better if you could edit together a version with telemetry on screen. Altitude, Rate of descent, speed over the ground, time to touchdown etc. Awesome achievement though.
That would be very nice
This manages to be so immersive while still just being a five minute video of a space re-entry, it feels ultra immersive with the single view of a space vista. Beautiful!
I appreciate the planning to include this functionality. The sound of the re entry is incredible.
The Earth has never looked more beautiful than it does in this video. Thank you, Varda.
One of the coolest space vids I've ever seen. Huge kudos to the team for this amazing accomplishment.
Beautiful footage, thanks for posting. Since I've been watching space development since the 1960s, and over the years an emergency escape system for astronauts has been discussed. If such a system is developed, I would imagine the view for the astronaut would look very much like this....
Bring your earplugs
I gotta show this to my kids. They love this stuff
Loved it! From asteriod to a beach landing, what can't we do!
Stop fighting, feed the hungry, and heal the sick, apparently
@@dfgdfg_well no matter how lovely that sounds there’s always going to be sick people and homelessness so even if we stop all scientific projects nothing is really going to change.
I don't know how to describe how impressed I am. That's just incredible. What an amazing team of engineers.
What beautiful looking planet from space.
@5:36 - those are impressive levels of mud caked on the bottom of those shoes.
You should have seen Burning Man last year :)
he happen to be there Clamming when it landed
I love how the stucco looking material went from pure white and clean to scorched after re-entry.
Beautiful! Welcome home and congratulations Varda
This video is so cool. Show it to all the haters that still think the earth is flat and never been to the moon.

One of the coolest "space" videos I've ever seen... pretty wild to see the real thing and not something made in Hollywood. (And I love seeing the person starting to collect it at the end.... nice touch.)
It's almost enough to make one believe that the original space video, the moon landing, was real!
man, we really are totally insignificant in this unbelievable universe.
Love reentry videos with sound! ❤
Freaking spectacular. Great job!
The hottest five minutes of video I've ever seen!!!! Wicked!
This video is proof that there IS (a little bit of) sound in space. SO COOL!
And it lands right on an empty beach. Amazing what humanity is capable of achieving. Thank you for sharing.
Fake news! There was a guy right there to roll up the parachute! Empty my foot! :D
based on how much clayey mud was stuck to his shoes, I'd guess a Playa, sort of like Black Rock.
it landed in a desert actually, the mohave test range
It's a time lapse for crying out loud lol @@DannoHung
It landed in a desert. No where near a beach or shoreline.
To the people that think the Earth is flat or that space doesn't exist (and that it's the firmament), please be on board one of these the next time there's a reentry.

@@EternaL1fe what 5:19?
Proof of a fish eye lens being used. I am not saying that this is evidence for a flat earth, I am just saying that this video is not evidence for a curved ball earth.@@consortofmyonevalkyrie2854
That's some great footage! Thank you for uploading.
Job well done. Incredible video, thanks Varda!
Thank you....spectacular....dream-inviting !!!!!
👏👏👏
🎉🎉🎉 from Jamaica, hello 👋
Wow. That was an amazing bit of footage. Well done guys.. 👍
Born to late to explore the seas and to early to explore the stars. Just in time to watch a space craft enter the atmosphere in high quality from the comfort of my computer chair. This is an insanely cool video!
Thanks so much for fitting cam and mic! So cool.
Oh and please restock your store I want one of them Large hoodys 😁
Can u post an uncut version with time stamps? obviously the boring bits were cut out, but i would love to get a feel for the actual durations of each phase of the reentry and decent.

Amazing, cool video!
Such amazing footage
This is so cool I don't know how I'm going to manage the rest of my workday.
Beautiful video!
Splendid Job, Well Coordinated !
WOW! Nice shot! 👍👍
~100km in 5 min, and decelerating from 27k km/h to 0. It looked so smooth
INTENSE in so many ways. Thank you!!
Felt like I was on it! Totally cool visuals 🎉
Very cool indeed, thanks!
Very impressive and cool!!!
Amazing ...I'm thrilled 😊
Would love to know more about the camera setup!
Really cool to experience this!
this is awesome
Thank you for this video. This IS my dream, will see reentry
That burning thing protects us from asteroids, it's amazing.
Awesome.
freaking FASCINATING
Best video ever ❤
👍🙏yaaa...!!! Bu gibi gerçek görsel ve işitsel kayıtları dikkat buyrun daha yeni yeni alıyoruz.. yıl 2024...
"Damn that is a sweet earth you might say. Round!"
Wow. Awesome.
incredible
Very cool; mach 25 WOOO!
Chaala bagundhi.. thanks Varda Space Industries
Wow! Look at those bits of plasma!
From outer space to designated landing space in five minutes. Ridiculous! ❤
There is the longer version, you could watch. No edits.
Thank you for clarifying! @@rlewis1946
This is an edited time lapse video full version is on their channel
Parabéns a toda equipe nota 10
Que magnífico! O nosso planeta 🌎 é tão lindo e cheio de novidades que nos deixa sem palavras 😶. Amei ver essas imagens!❤ Gratidão 🙏
👏 Touchdown!!
Sooooo cool!!! 😮😍
awesome video and sounds of the what I think are the attitude control jets firing 😊😊
Pretty damned cool!
"My god, it's full of stars.'
Amazing video and great capture. Mine sharing what camera/video recorder that is?
They must have the bottom of this thing coated in McDonalds french fries. There is no other material that could shed that much heat that quickly 😄
Great "cinematography" even if it was digital video...and it showed the curved edge of our beautiful, spherical world...without the need for a fish-eye lens!
Cool. Is that a Go Pro?
I need a laugh, what do the flat earthers have to say about this?
Fake CGI 3D Photoshopped cartoons 😂
Flat earthers are the Cirque du Soleil of mental gymnastics
I was gona say same shit

Probably a dumb question, but what are the streaks of light? Part of an ablative shield that's burning off?
Not a dumb question at all. It's psychedelic space dust
Plasma
spice melange combusting
plasma and the ablative shielding burning off
That was my guess too. This video reminds me of the Artemis I Orion reentry video. I know Orion, unlike Dragon and the Space Shuttle, has an ablative heat shield. Although Orion came in much faster I wouldn’t be surprised if it looked similar.
thumbs up whoever brought your phones to your ear after the supersonic😂
I see an alien hanging onto the parachute at 4:59!!!
interesting to compare Kerbal space program to real life
too bad the camera isn't closer to the opening so we could have a better field of view though
this is amazing... i want a selfie stick version
This is what Superman sees flying in from the multiverse
Full length video link goes to a broken UA-cam studio link. Any other way to get there?
I don't see UFO but space is I-N-F-I-N-I-T-Y...
Now that was a ride. Did you notice the stars in the background? Why is it from all the videos that “NASA” has shown us (1969 - present) you don’t see any stars, galaxy’s, or the Milky Way in them? 🤔
Petery. It all depends on the lighting and how the camera adjusts to it or how it's set to capture certain details. You'll notice that stars aren't visible when the Earth comes into view in this video either.
What are those specs floating around at seperation?
What's the white object at the end of 1:50, just before 1:51 ?
What's the other space object visible from ~1m27 to 1m32? The bus from which this vehicle detached, or something else?
Yeah that's the spacecraft it detached from, photon
Yes
I had the same question, thanks for answering it comments!
Is it a real-time video or time-compressed?
Realtime with a handful of skips ahead to get to the interesting parts. They also posted a 27-minute version without skips.
Time lapse with lots of parts edited out. Full version is on their channel.
What is the object in the video at 1:31?
I suspect this is the spacecraft that released the capsule?
Yes, it's Photon.
What is that in view at 1:28 to 1:33? Is that the rest of the craft that separated?
@@user-vv2cr8oj7k right...I think it's a lower booster stage.
What did they mean with photon flyby? Is that the little that comes onto the screen around 1:26?
And what is it?
that's the rocket lab photo: the satellite bus that was used to carry the varda spacecraft into orbit.
@@nishyanthkumar thankyou!
I wonder what satellite is shown in orbit at 1:32. is it even a satellite or another jettisoned part of this craft thats re-entering the atmosphere?
that's the rocket lab photo: the satellite bus that was used to carry the varda spacecraft into orbit.
Stupid question: none of this is time-lapsed? Anyway -- really beautiful video!
I only saw one cut in the video when it deploys the main chute until it gets right near the landing, because that last drift down is so uneventful, but it looks dead on for normal time.
What was the orange ball of light if the sun was the white ball of light?
🔥🔥🔥
How long was it in LEO? Were you aiming for that spot in Utah?
8 month, mostly waiting for FAA approvals. The landing was intentional
It's been in LEO since June 2023, it was meant to return 1- 2 months later but they had issues with FAA approval. Yes Utah test ground was always the planned landing site.
wat is LEO?
