The piece was written as opening piece for “The Enchanted Lake” - Irish Legends, Stories and Harp Music, read by Mick Fitzgerald, Dublin.
“The Enchanted Lake” (Hidden Tracks) won the “Global Music Award”.
Recording made during the filming, via stereo pickups, one take.
Please listen with headphones for best sound!
The harp played in this video is the 35 string rosewood Celtic Harp (harpe celtique, keltische Harfe) "Manjula", made by Frank Sievert & Burkart Kleiner in Germany.
Frank Sievert sadly passed away a few years ago, but if you are looking for a simliar harp I highly recommend conatcting Reto Hofstetter who worked with him: satelier.hofstetter@gmail.com.

I started learning harp at the age of 8 but stopped at 15, because at that time, the closest person to me, my harp teacher, had to quit teaching, due to domestic violence and alcoholism…This song made me regain my courage for the harp, so i grabbed my harp, replaced all the torn strings, tuned it and start playing again.
I started with this very song!
Playing this almost puts me in tears every time.
This is to me one of the greatest peace of art ever to be performed on Harp.
Very Emotional.
Thank you
Dear lffy34, I am very, very moved by your words and your story. Thank you 🥰
So wonderful that you found your way back to the harp after all those years. I hope it will continue to bring you inspiration and joy.
Sending a big hug, Nadia 😘
Kudos!
@Erika Brown Dear Erika, may your music, your voice, your playing, your new harp bring joy and inner freedom to you and all those around you. Big hugs to you and your son, Nadia
P.S. I LOVE the idea of you getting an electro-acoustic harp and a motor cycle with leather jacket to match a the same time. What agreat combination! 🤗
@@erikabrown2644 Hola Erika
Hi Erika
I send you all my encouragement and all my love from Spain for you and your son, and I encourage him to continue learning Spanish. That is my native language and I assure you that you will enjoy it a lot. It is a very rich language.
God bless you
I took harp lessons when I was young. Let me tell you that harpists make it look easy. It is not! It is a really difficult instrument to learn to play. I have nothing but respect for harpists and thank you for all the beautiful music. -)
Thank you so much ❤
Sounds like you played pedal harp. Had I known they had those classes in the college I went to in New York for my freshman year, I would have learned to play pedal harp. Still kick myself for that!😖 Pedal harp seems like the musical equivalent of learning to drive a stick-shift, IMO.
Lever or folk harp is easier, and brings out your inner muse! I haven't been able to play it for a while due to extenuating circumstances, but it's safely in storage. I miss it!😭 But if you can get a small lever harp, you can still have a lot of fun with it!
@@denisemayosky1955 Stick shift is MUCH easier!
@@MsOscara 😂 I believe it, lol!
I am playing harp and its a little hard
It has a very fairy-tale sound.
It's called Enchanted.¥
@Zeke Alfonso Your Girlfriend, The Police, etc
agree
I think the harp is one of humanities greatest inventions , up there in the top 20 for sure .
I couldn't agree more!! :-)
Mobile phones?!
For real
It was the instrument that King David played in the holy Temple.
Jonny Parker yeah...that and cheese~
Now I know why the sound of the harp is thought of as Heaven's music.
Awww, thank you so much!
Harpists are heavenly ¥🌌🎶
YES
there is something real about your statement... the harp is the preferred instrument of the gods in the greek mythology
and also of the real God of the bible..in heaven there are harps in the book of revelation...
I've always thought this. I remember when I was 10 visiting Edinburgh I heard the most beautiful harp music from a street performer. I gave him every single last coin in my pocket.
As a child, I always wanted to learn to play the harp. Now I am 30 and thinking about realizing this dream. It just sounds beautiful 😍
Ohhhh, go for it, absolutely! ❤️
I know so many adult beginners (and many are a lot older than you!)
There are lots of groups, for instance on Facebook, where people discuss which harp to buy, where to find a teacher, what the best online courses are et cetera. It’s a wonderful helpful community. If you are on Facebook, join “Celtic Harp” for a start.
Hey I am 35 and just started playing the harp. I absolutely love it. I think you should also go for it!
Did you do it? On the Off chance you live in Southern Indiana, you can free harp lessons and instrument to use through Community Music Alliance.
You're a talented artist but also a perfect teacher, I will always remember your kindness and the way you motivated students to play at Dinan's Festival in 2018, you're such an inspiring person, thanks for playing these beautiful musics!
Oh, wow, thank you Ninnog for your beautful words. Much love, Nadia
This weirdly inspired me to paint something, it turned out to be one of my favorite paintings. I realy love this
Thank you for your beautiful comment. I’m really happy the piece inspired you. Maybe your painting will inspire someone else to write a piece of music, or a story.. 😊🎶
i have painted ONLY under extrene conditions.....spiritual paintings.. but life a dstill lifeat thesame time
Same it makes me want to draw
In the Indian classical tradition, I just learned that there are two concepts of musical sound. One pertains to "struck" sound which is audible and the studied sound we all understand in the West to be "music." The other pertains to "unstruck" sound, which is sensed through our hearts/spirits rather than through any physical faculty. Music is, by this tradition, a vehicle or medium, through which, with practice in playing or in listening, one may sense and connect with this mystical unheard sound. I believe it must be the "sound" or vibration of the eternal side of our own beings which is within us and around us at all times. All that to say that the meditation your beautiful playing invokes, must surely be a vehicle honored by this unusual theory of unstruck sound, holding within it the subtle power to amplify this elusive and sacred sound, the sound of one's own spirit. Thank you for sharing your gift with us. I think the Celtic element here must deepen that connection to the "unstruck." It has always stirred something in me.
I only realised this myself within this last year and it has changed the way I listen to music; also the human voice. It felt like a "new beginning". Perhaps the connection is stronger in celtic music due to it's ancient origins.
Thank you Ms Mo, for your comment.
I feel very honoured to have viewers like you in this vast UA-cam universe who listen with their heart and a vast intellectual and spiritual background. Your comments are a beautiful dialogue with the music and a great motivation for the musician. Much love, Nadia
@@nadiabirkenstock_harpsong I'm so honored by your response to my comment. I worried I'd written too much. But I'm always gratified to find truly amazing musicians who are new to me, at least. I envision your channel taking off, for the authenticity and depth of your music is so unique to other harpists on youtube in that it is composed/arranged/crafted by YOU! How magical! Best of wishes to you in this UA-cam universe, as you called it. Your fanbase is expanding!
If you understand what you wrote, I propose you investigate 432Hz tuning frequency, as well as others that are not conventional in today's musical practice. This opens new levels of understanding the vibration called "sound".
This has soothed my troubles tonight. Thank you for such pure beauty
Thank you so much! ❤
Just wanna say that this is the most beautiful harp piece I have ever heard. I can't believe you wrote it, you are incredibly talented and underrated.
Thank you so much, dear Mimi for your beautiful and kind comment. Many dear greetings!
The harp is the most precious instrument
Thank you for your beautiful words. I think all well-crafted acoustic instruments are precious, they allow us to express something without words, in the moment. 🥰
@@nadiabirkenstock_harpsong our hearts express without words. The harp takes me back to my Homeland, Scotland. Full of mystery and romance
It's enough that you played it, but you wrote it!! This is performed and written beautifully!
Thank you so much, Hart Crafts.I write the music that I want to perform :-)
Beyond exquisite! Music of the angelic realms! Thank you angel upon Gaia dear Nadia🙏😇🙏❤️
Thank you so much for your beautiful comment, dear Amata 🌸🌺🌷🌿
This is an excelent composition, very unique rhythimically. You are special.
Thank you so much for listening and for your kind comment 🥰
Going deaf, the harp is in my opinion the greatest musical instrument on earth. The sound is uncomparable to other instruments, and it takes tremendous skill to play a hero the way it should be. This is the way a harp should be played, this rendition is astonishing.
Thank you so much Tyrell. When my harp leans against my shoulder, actually on my collarbone, I can feel its vibrations when I play. If I play on a wooden floor,I can feel the vibrations of the harp through my feet. Musical instruments are multidimensional!
I've always wanted to learn the harp, but I can't yet. I come here every day to imagine the day I'll play like this. I love this song.
Dear Azamor, thank you for listening and for commenting. Keep going, you will get there! The world needs more harpists! ❤️
Ah the harp! So soothing and romantic 🎵🎶💛
🤗🌸🌿 Glad you enjoyed the music!
this is so beautiful with the running water as the perfect rhythm section.
Thank You!
I don't think harp is appreciated as much as it deserves. If heaven were to be described by a sound, it'd be the sound of a harp.
Thank you so much for watching and commenting. The good news is: there are so many more harp players, instruments and harp makers out there than 10 years ago, the harp is definitely gaining more and more ground 🥰🌷🙏
So wunderschön
Ganz lieben Dank!
I've never heard the harp sound so beautiful 😍❤️ your gift is amazing, it has to come from the heavens.
Thank you so much for your beautiful words, dear LuAnn 🤗
Thank you to be here, extraordinary 💓 ✌️ 🌌 with universal inconditional love
Thank YOU, Franck, fro being here and taking the time to comment. A big hug, Nadia 😘
Such a seamless composition. It is irresitable to go on a journey as this song reaches out a hand to you!

Beautiful.
This is my first time listening to this kind of music and you have place me into tears. Your talent is amazing 💛. Please keep going. Bless your soul.
Thank you so much for your kind words and beautiful message, dear Victor. Sending a big hug! 🤗
So beautiful
Magnifique...very relaxing
Thank you so much for your beautiful music! I am just learning the harp at 67 and although I may not ever play as well as you, I hope at least to be able to provide some healing and happiness in some way. I could not think of a more beautiful instrument. I used to play banjo and guitar on an intermediate level until I had to have some fingers re-attached after an accident. I lost feeling in both fingers for many years, but now I am ready to play again and for some odd reason, the harp made total sense to me. A beautiful piece from a beautiful person. I have enjoyed it again and again.
Thank you so much for your beautiful words, dear Jake, and for sharing your story ❤️
By the way, I LOVE Banjo, the sound always makes me happy. 🙂
Great that you are now also on the harp path, enjoy it!
Much love and dear greetings form Germany, Nadia
Utterly lovely
Thank you so much!
lovely.
Merry dance the water...
Her child's heart...
In laughing droplets...
Source of glittering sparkles...
Reminds me of how precious life is...
And how good it is, under the Sun of Love, to open your arms ...
🌞💓🌊🌈💗
Thank you Emmanuel, how beautiful!
Comments like yours mean a lot to me, so immensely motivating to keep going on this path.
Love and light! :-)
This a very beautiful piece of poetry. I say 'piece' because I gather that to express the vastness of things may take a long time, and the role of poetry (I guess) is to capture fragments of that vastness, giving back the 'glittering sparkles' of meaningful moments. You did it beautifully, indeed.
@@ceciliagincho6806 Yes, I think that this vastness that I call: Love, can only fully express itself in the silence of our hearts !! Art comes after, as a tool !! 🙂
A very deep thanks for your kind words !!! 💓
@@emmanuel77000 The silence of our hearts... Yes, this is an important aspect to summon a stream of consciousness running steadily up inside of us, expressing itself in so many ways, which we translate into words, painting, music, playing and singing, dancing. Every art begins in the silent place. Like love itself.
@@ceciliagincho6806 Namasté !! 🙂😃
Thank you Nadia, very cool!
Thank you for the music which heals my soul ...

This has been sitting in my recommendations for a while now and I finally decided to click it - best decision I have ever made! The melody is just so beautiful and soothing! Thank you for sharing with us 🥺
Thank you so much, SkylessNights, for taking the time to write such a beautiful comment.
When I was 8 years old, everyone thought I was going to play the flute like my sister (I thought so too), but when the moment came to decide what instrument I want to play, I said I want to play the harp, and everyone was surprised because they didn't expect it. But since they didn't have it in my music school, I decided to go for a piano. But to this day, I still want to play the harp. I know that moment will come, it's just a matter of time. You're an inspiration, you play so beautifully! ✨
Thank you so much for your beautiful commen and for sharing your story.
I can just say, go for it! The harp is just a great instrument to start (and at any age) and there are so many ressources online now.
@@nadiabirkenstock_harpsong Thank you for saying that, it's really comforting to know! 🙏💖 I'm glad I stumbled on your channel, I bathe in your beautiful music every now and then. 🎶🌊
How will she return to you?
In the rain...
In the plight?
In the sorrow?
In the throes of night.
I cast you into the deep dark sea and you anticipate my darkness
I cradle , cradle, cradle
Planting a single shelter
And no where do I fathom, do I go.
Every blanket shields forbidden air
And I am on every mind,
every eye
within your every stare.
Who's the author? You?
you'd be a huge hit in the gaming industry for fantasy themed video games!
Oh? Anyone got any contacts?
Beautiful!
The instrument of angelic beings. If this music is beautiful here on Earth imagine what awaits us in heaven.

As one who hears real music, Nadia's work with the harp is right up there with the best of them. If you are saying that her music is angelic I have no argument with you. She has been so very healing for me.

Never had an interest in listening to harp music. I always thought it is a weird instrument that no one likes.
Today, out of nowhere, I decided to look it up and I found this video.
This is by far the most relaxing, most peace-inducing music I have ever had the pleasure and honor of listening to. No too dramatic, but no dry either.
Perfect. Thank you so much for uploading!
Dear Tradermann, well, I am so glad. Thank you for taking the time to write this comment, I really appreciate it.

What a lovely piece ...beautifully played thanks.
Thank you very much!
Its all in the love of the instrument, long hours of practice even sometimes all day and nights for a long long time. If you love the harp and are very enchanted by it, you will learn. Its an endless adventure.....Sometimes i go away from it and come back as fresh as in the start about my love for it. If you get one, buy a fairly quality made one so in your practice you can enjoy its beauty as you learn.
