WOW... And I thought my mom was brilliant when she was doing it in the early 1970's. She sure was... EVEN TODAY you are doing it the same way... HALF WAY ACROSS THE GLOBE, ALMOST 50 years later.

Beef bone broth is great, but beef bone broth made from oxtail. I put my beef bones or oxtail(preferred) in my crockpot and set it on low for a good 24 hours. OR put the bones in a stew pot (one with a sieve insert is best for straining), cover with water, salt it, and boil until the bones have a pale-ish look. (a sign that the marrow has leached out that's where all the good stuff is at). I do this with my chicken bones or chicken parts we don't eat when we have fried chicken (and the turkey carcass later). It freezes well, or you can can the broth in jars. I have a large deepfreeze and can use ziploc freezer bags, reuse your plastic containers from sour cream, cottage cheese, etc. Mark with a marker what's in them with a month and date. In frozen state keeps forever, jarred I would be reserved longer than a year. This broth, especially chicken, will set your body right as rain eaten when sick like with flu.........chest colds...this brother drank hot will loosen up the congestion. And it makes awesome gravy and stews!

What do u do with the fat? Can we put a piece in our broth when heating it up? Should we consume the fat? Hmmmm

Jassett Treasure I wouldn't. Especially if the meat wasn't grass fed.

Another bone broth recipe suggests using the fat for stir-frying veggies... I personally wouldn't use it but some might.

Yeah if you have high quality bones then I would totally use it! Animal fat is awesome. Cook with it, make a roux, use it to fry things! Same reason I never throw out bacon grease.
