I'll be honest when I first started watching the channel my interest was only power saws, and everytime I saw an axe I was like, well, not my favorite content, but I'll watch to support the channel with views, because I love this channel... then little by little Buckin won me over and I went out and tried to split wood with an axe. He makes it look so fun and easy! But I just couldnt get it to work. Couldn't figure it out. Axe got stuck, wood didnt split, busted a handle...and i said this isnt for me. Then I saw a random video I hadn't seen before, Buckin held up MY axe, and said friends, if your axe head looks like this, you're not gonna be splittin anything. This is a chopping axe. 😂 well, my axe looks just like that, and I wasnt splitting anything 😂 didn't help that I was splitting knotty oak either. so I got myself a proper axe, and I LOVE it!! Now I really enjoy axe videos. Evolving with you Buckin
Thanks for answering this question BBR! It has driven me crazy trying to figure out why you do that!!! 🤣 Love watching you in your element, and learning so much from your experiences. Thank you!!
We've already been burning the wood stove at night the last few weeks. Its been very enjoyable especially having the large view window. I look forward to the day i have my bunker set up and make my first few axes! These axes you sold are very special and they are and always will be a part of you! I'm super stoked to own a few buckin handles, there nice in the hands!
That’s a super nice axe 🤗 Hey guys, if you can’t have one of these, try making your own, it’s super good fun! I’ve made six now and I absolutely love them, and also every time I look at them, which I every day cos they’re in my living room….haha, it reminds me of buckin because I learnt how to do it from watching him do it on here. There’s loads of vids teaching you how to do it. We could make a gallery of homemade buckin specials 🥰🤗
I'd love to have one of your axe's because I've seen how much passion you put in to each individual axe. I'm sure that it'd be tough for me to afford one but I'll continue to enjoy your channel and it's content
Hey BILLY RAY! Let me share my favorite way to condition a handle. 1) Heat up the handle to 200+ deg F. 2) coat the entire handle in pine tar and massage it in. 3) Wipe off all excess. 4) Rub it down with bees wax. You’ll get YEARS out of it before reconditioning. Perfect grip - wet or dry. Fantastic smell. Try it once and you’ll never touch linseed oil again.
My partner got hurt on the job with me yesterday had a piece of oak explode out of are 27 ton log splitter cut through his jeans then his leg had to run him to er to get stitched up, working wood is fun but an easy way to get hurt as soon as you get too relaxed working it must always stay on the ball. like starting my day watching a little of your goofy energy stay safe in what you do Buckin.
Love the flick - learned it here - use it all the time. My hydraulic log splitter, the poor thing never gets used anymore. Thank you for the content and the message on this channel!!!
I recommend you stay away from the flick. Yes, it does help when you are splitting. However, the twisting of the ligaments in your hand, forearm, elbow, and SHOULDER can cause damage to the top hand (right or left-handed) when performed for a long period of time.
Good afternoon buckin & everyone✌️great axes 👍I built a couple, bought a 4 1/2 lb head & carved a handle. NOTHIN like yours but had a great time carving it.
@@FJ40Brian Not ashamed to admit the memories are so strong as I think back many of them bring a tear or two. Just some beautiful families and now close friends. I am a blessed man for sure. ♥️🙏
I had the honor to stand feet away from seeing and hearing those powerful swings in person. The ka-thonk sound of the wood bullet was inspiring to say the least. This is a form of performance art, the necessary activity of Woodmen who heat their homes with bio-mass (wood etc.) Seeing Buckin hit those rounds was as good as seeing any axeman playing guitar. Free form/free flow ax swinging is dangerous. Chunks go flying 😂 But it's either the ka-thonk on the rounds or the sha-klanks on the round drums that i keep coming back for. Can't wait to see "Buckin Logs" drum sticks with different wood designs. 👍
@4:12 I've had to wrap a few handles that were too thin, or else my hands would cramp up and my aiming starts getting bad. If too thin the wrap for baseball bats works good and can handle the abuse better than medical tape or generic cloth tape... i haven't used golf club tape, but that might also be an option! 🪓 Thanks again for another awesome video! 👍👍👍
I got put a wood bullet in my hands at Bunyan. Man was it awesome!! I bought 3 handles while there and a weaver 1085. Soon I'll get a wood bullet. Love this place❤
