I will add, this is a great way to add another thing from cyberpunk which is having a need for "archaic" weapons. You could have some pretty good soft armor rating and then a crazy with a knife could wreck you if you got cocky.

Since effect is added To damage you could actually get through more than just 1.. That makes sense because affect is basically a better shot.

I agree that TL14 SDA would not be "casually" detectable. However, the far future equivalent of an MRI should have no problem. Indeed, a current MRI will pick out things like polymer surgical mesh. Of course, getting the character into such a scanner is another story.
Your points about internal damage are well made and very true.
I have to think that even with SDA the outer skin would be damaged. Superficial cuts, bullet impact craters, and not so superficial burns would be painful and distracting. Even with SDA, the character will really feel the hit. Scars would still occur unless some really spiffy medical attention was applied or later cosmetic surgery performed. (Bet you haven't heard "spiffy" in a long time)
I agree on the two weeks recovery even in a far future situation. Cells only grow so fast. Too much effort to accelerate healing might result in cancer. Of course, one can imagine anything for the far future... and probably still underestimate it.

They might be able to fool lower tech scanning or imaging, but a densitometer is also TL14 and explicitly makes "a three-dimensional image of the inside and outside of an object." [as does an MRI at a much lower TL, but... the densitometer does it IN SPAAAAACE, or whatever]
I'd think that a densitometer with a skilled operator or an AI / Expert Program should pretty easily be able to detect the augment. Maybe use a typical TL vs TL modifier for higher TL armor that's both carefully designed and implanted to fool lower TL sensors?
