Number 13 jersey at Pirates was retired in 1998 not because it was an honour to Bashin, i highly respect and admire him, he was one of the finest midfielders who ever graced South African football grounds, the main reason that jersey (No 13) was retired is the sudden and tragic death of Clifford "Tough" Moleko (May His Soul RIP) in car accident who took over the jersey from Bashin...Any soccer lover can correct me if m wrong in my narration...Note made on 8/12/2023.
I have never seen anyone that could shoot like this man he was amazing and on another level I was very young at the time and these are guys we wanted to imitate !!! wish him well in his life he has contributed alot to the game
This gentleman was so humble, still he is. He did not make noise in the field of play. He did the talking with the ball. You have done good for Pirates and South African football
many dnt remember Bashin also plaxed for downs in the 80s,with the likes of pitso mosimane, mike mangena ,Alpheaus mabusela, walter kutumela, together with his brothet Hamilton mahlangu,
Albert Bashin Mahlangu was a gem. I remember Radio Ndebele soccer commentators used to call him 'Nguye noma kungasiye' because whenever Pirates scores everyone listening to the radio will think its Bashin Mahlangu even if mybe is another player.😂😂
Of course yes he was marvelous....yhoooo he could shoot 35metres away lightning shots....it's only Dumisa Ngobe who came up with those shots...8/12/2023
He started to be prominent in 1988 at Pirates....he was instrumental in making sure that the BOB SAVE SUPERBOWL on the 3rd Dec 1988....goals scored by Basil "Kapse Dans" Steenkamp and Lawrance "Killer" Maake...(extra time)....Chiefs goal was scored by Mike "Sporo" Mangena a headed ball on the 7th Minute from a cross from Doctor Khumalo...Ellis Park Stadium...Innocent "Ayoba yhooo" Mayoyo in goals, Kingsley "Bone crusher" Masingi, Sipho "Hotstix" Sikhonde, Moses "Mbazo" Khamanga (May His Soul RIP), Vincent "Last Born" Makroti, Earnest "Botsotso" Makhanya (May His Soul RIP), Jackie "Styles" Ledwaba, Alfred " Shakes" Gwabeni, Tebogo "Chippa" Moloi, Dan "Dance" Malesela (C) and sweper, Nick "Bazooka" Seshweni, Lawrance "Killer" Maske, Steven "BMX" Potsane and Basil "Kaapse dans" Steenkamp...Coach Walter Da Silva. Thanks for the remark Mr Phasha....we grew up listening to the radio (Radio Sesotho) Tshediso Leballo use to give us all these nicknames...it was our daily bread ifootball. 9/12/2023
Ayashisa amateki what a player. I'm a Khosi supporter but always admired him. I still want to know why he kicked the corner flack or it was a mistake😂😂😂
