I bought your book because of the support you did over covid... Being a guitarist with a fair bit of knowledge on Cubase I have a wealth of old midi files for tracks I'd like to use to overdub and perhaps work and tweak on... again... your style of tuition is just SO intuitive to watch and learn from... Much love ...🤟

It was my first day using Cubase 12 with no training, it was frustrating to figure out how to make a midi file play, and hear the sound, after watching this video, I did understand how to do it, you saved me from quitting and giving up, thanks for your help.
@@musictechtuition I did subscribed to encourage you and watch more of your useful and helpful videos, you have deep knowledge, but still you keep things simple, easy to follow, and you show exactly how you do it, which button to press, this helps a lot, thanks a lot.
Excellent plain english explanation I use MIDI a lot for backing my Saxophone and have always wondered how you get control over the individual channels. One question, can you 'hide' the origianl MIDI faders so it looks less cluttered?
Thanks a lot, really useful this video, Cubase is a wonderful DAW and when discover this way of working you realize the power of this machine. Could you tell me please how get you differents tracks for each sound when you load for example GM130 Hip hop (Hallion Sonic) in the rack?. and other question: coincidentally I´m working these days with this drum loop (GM130 Hip Hop) but I loaded it on audio track and it gave me numerous problems with otrer audio tracks for other hallion sounds. I must download this kind or loops in MIDI tracks?. thank very much again and congratulations for this video.
Hi. Firstly think you very much for producing tutorials on Cubase. It's been years since getting back into recording my music, more than 15 when Cubase was a much simpler design. Please can you assist me with a Midi problem. I see from this video tut of yours that I am supposed to be able to select Halion Sonic as my destination under Midi File and it does not come up as an option. If I press play on my transport bar I can see the indicators on the channels registering sound by nothing is patched to my main stereo out and I am completely at a loss of how to patch this correctly. I am using Cubase LE 13 on a PC. I will watch the rest of the video of course, perhaps you mention another way to make the correct connection.
Glad you've found them useful. If you're not hearing anything, I'd suggest starting with a blank project and creating a Halion Sonic, and opening any sound in there (I usually use a GM Acoustic Piano sound as it will always work without issue). If you're not hearing sound at that point when you have notes playing, then you have an audio connections issue, so take a look here - ua-cam.com/video/oWPScq0tTbM/v-deo.html If you are getting sound in that situation, then it's to do with your routing in the project with the imported MIDI file. Depending on the settings you may have to alter the preferences as seen at 1:20 in this video - what are you seeing for that menu?
Thanks for your reply. Just last night I began to work directly with Halion. I copied and pasted the imported midi onto a new instrument tracks which I used the Halion instrument. After checking my patches I managed to get a sound as it kind of made sense from there. So for now I am winning thanks. My next trick will be how to use Garitan instruments that I use in Finale as I think some of them are quite nice, but that will mean that I have to get my Midi to work without Halion or perhaps its in conjunction I dont know. Once step at a time. I will check out your suggestions. Have a good day.
I'm not intimately familliar with the SX900, but I would be surprised if there's not a way to export MIDI files from it - then you'd be able to import them as seen here.
That was really good, now I understand what is happening. As I have Elements 12 and it does not have the Midi Editor, do you know another way to remove the Program change besides paying £200 for the Artist version?
HI Paul. Yes, you can do it, but it's less friendly than the way shown here (but not the end of the world). I'll do a video, making that a request-ception.
@@musictechtuition , that would be really helpful as I am sure that may people start of with Elements and as so many of the videos are using the pro version there are many missing features.
@@musictechtuition If there is also a way to change it , say GM34 to GM88 that would also be a great tip as I can connect up my D50 along with the RD-8 I have. I have just purchased your book, but you may want to update the link as it points to Cubase 11.
PLEASE Help ::Why wont Halion sonic 7, which came with my Cubase 12 pro, NOT load the sounds of a midi song ? Please help. The previous halion se loaded very well. I didn ask for Halion sonic7 . Ive done all that the videos suggested and I am on GM mode, all levels on play mode show working. but the actual default sounds just wont load. Am I missing something ?

Great and really exhaustive information about MIDI file import! Thanx a ton for the upload!!!
This was a very helpful overview of Halion Sonic for me.

My inspector/visibility window doesn't come up... don't know what i'm doing wrong!
The Inspector is in the left zone, which is shown/hidden with CTRL + ALT + L on Windows and COMMAND + ALT + L on macOS. Hopefully that will fix it!

Does the MIDI file definitely have MIDI program changes in it? I know it may sound obvious, but it's always worth checking...
