Hey, Nicole! Your plants will love the potting soil mix. Just a suggestion....next time you make a large batch of your own soil mix, lay out one of your smaller tarps, throw everything you are planning on mixing in on top of the tarp, grab all four corners of the tarp in your hands and roll the tarp back and forth to mix. TADA!

Not sure how your yurts go as far as getting frost, ( when the months get colder ) but when something is close to an outside wall it can get moldy. So when winter / colder weather comes you may want to move your bed 6 inches away to breath. Thanks for sharing

You probably know by now, but spider plants do not product the sprouts with the 'spiders' on them until after they become root bound. If you pot them in a nice big pot with plenty of room, it will take them a very long time to develop the spider shoots.

I've never been a big Yurt fan but you guys have convinced me! Very cool structure, You two have definitely tapped in to a much better and unfortunately dying time of utilizing the land and its resources, good neighbors that help each other out and finding happiness in something other than a big pile of money! How cool would this world be if more folks came back to the simplicity of this type of existence and back to nature?! I'll never be on board with the whole vegan thing but if that's what does it for you I say Rock on!!

Hi Jake & Nicole, your videos are very interested, at first I saw some but of very different episodes; how ever I fell so much “in love” with your project that I have started from ep. number 1, but I would go back to ep. no. 1 if any, soon. To watch you it is very interested for me, nor only for the contend of your videos but also to remind my English language, I went to studied at England on 1922 and I will be 70 on 18/06/2020, long time have gone by ever since. You speak a fairly good and clear English. One question: do you have sponsors for this project? I expect so, because all the staff you are using is not cheap. Anyway, you deserve it!! You are doing a extremely good job!!! Congratulations!

Nicole don't forget banana peels in your planting mix, also if you Google recipes for radish greens they make patties with no eggs,if you grate your citrus fruits before you eat them you can dry them for your teas, all your avocado pits cut them in little pieces and dry them when you have a tummy ache make some tea with it,it's magic Google the benefits of avocado pits, don't waste them.this is my humble contribution to your healthy life.

Nicole & Jake - Another really well edited video with great content. Again you have used similar footage but provided a slightly different look or extended scenes from the clips Jake used in his videos. VERY WELL DONE!!! We really enjoyed the bed making scene, the kitchen counter scenes, and we found it very interesting to see your planting techniques and what you use in the soil mixture. My (Lance) mother had several spider plants as well but my favorite one is that big leaf Monstera deliciosa you have in the background. There was one in a house I rented years ago and if you let it, you will have big leaf jungle vines right up to the dome on the top of the yurt! Again, great episode. Thanks for sharing! Hollywood had nothing to do with making her a star. It's much more innocent than that. She decided and took upon herself to shine and share. She ran across this guy? Nope not a Hollywood agent. It was her measure of time. And then this good guy saw her shining. Although he did choose it was still her choice. It's okay! Ya it's a good thing!

The aloe vera plant is also invasive and put into the ground will probably expand three times its size each year. Do not put them where you are planning to have other plate growing they will move in and take over! Containing them in a bucket will crowd the root. They handle all type of climate. They are extremely beautiful when they bloom!

Go online to Amazon.com and order a 55psi DC water pump. Get enough PVC to go from the Yart to the lake and you'll have running water, till waiter. If you Barry the pipe 24 inches deep and weight the end that go's about 20 foot into the water, you might even have running water during waiter as well. Mount the pump and a battery under the house and put a switch on it so you can turn it off and on although most RV water pumps are designed to pump to pressure and stop till more pressure is needed. If you also order a tankless propane water heater, you'll be able to take killer showers since most city water pressure is around 45 psi. If I were in your shoes at this stage, and given that you still have about three months of good weather left, I would button up the under side of the house, put up a rain catchment system and not only get the wood stove installed and working but, I'd also start pilling up wood for burning. Also, I'd insulate the under side of the floor. I suggest you run 1 inch square wire around the bottom of the house and then horizontal planks on top of that to enclose the bottom. If you don't, your gonna have friends moving in under your house for the winter. Good luck with the farm. I know the woodland animals are gonna love to new restaurant your putting in.

Just discovered your channel. Fun to watch the yurt build. A heads up. I lived in a yurt for many years in Hawaii. Not sure what the rat population or mice population might be like in BC. But when making openings for pipes leaving the kitchen, any slack on the canvas outside corners to the deck, and even the top of the walls where it meets the roof, those 4 legged are really good at finding a way in. Make sure everything is taught beyond belief, especially when food starts to become scarce and it gets colder and they are looking for food. Keep up the good work, and thanks for sharing!! Also a rotating barrel for compost could come in handy, but suppose that might attract bears? No idea! Wild living!

I really enjoy all your videos, but one thing i noticed is that the volume when you talk is good, but the music in the video is so much louder, if at the same time you are hard to hear. Keep up the good work !
