I’m heartbroken we’re not getting the complete score for the new Starlight Express. The 21 tracks they did record are only available on vinyl and digital. The CD is 16 tracks, and with only an hour and five minutes of music there’s no reason all 21 tracks wouldn’t have fit on one CD. If the end goal was to only offer vinyl and a highlights CD so they wouldn't have to manufacture a more expensive double disc set, they still could have recorded the full score for those who want it, released that on digital, and recorded and tracked it in such a way that a 16 track highlights CD would still have been possible.

@@WiseGuy19 I didn’t realize that the “complete” recording would only be an hour and five minutes. Surely there’s something left off the recording or the show is woefully short haha! I’m also bummed that the more-complete version won’t be available on CD. I don’t understand the (lack of) logic

@@tylerjdonahue With only an hour and five minutes it would be missing about 40 minutes of material from the show. They do seem to have recorded all of the main songs similar to the 1992 London highlights album. The most notable omission is the new version of "The Rap." Without that song the listener will lose a sense of the two act structure jumping straight from the title song to "U.N.C.O.U.P.L.E.D." The rest of the missing material is largely the recitative between the main songs and the other two race sequences in act one. All of this is included on the 2013 live Bochum cast album, but a lot of it has been updated in this production with new lyrics and new music incorporating the "I Am Me" and "Hydrogen" motifs. Without having heard the new album yet I can only speculate that the track titled "The Final Race" is the reprise of "Hydrogen" given the artist info, but the length of the track indicates that it's likely combined with either the "Pre-Race Four" counterpoint or the Race Four instrumental music as the title would suggest.
