Barney Miller - Field Associate Se7 Ep8 (1981) NWO BRAVE NEW WORLD

- In what some may call a deliberate sequence of predictive programming, there is a little-remembered scene in the show Barney Miller, where an arrested man is trying to warn people of the true nature of the Trilateral Commission - founded in 1973 by David Rockefeller.

Barney Miller was the most accurate police show ever broadcast on television. As a Violent Crimes detective for many years, there were personalities and situations that matched real life. Brilliant show.
i t may be an accurate representation of the going on in a detective squad , however they made so many nypd uniform mistakes it bothers me to watch. . they are sgts that work in a detective squad. . in nypd. the rank is sgt and they wear sgts shields , and when in uniform have sgts stripes . numerous times they have. the men in uniform wearing white ( police officers shield) . barney miller is a captain and wears a shield. thst is not a captain shield and captain wear white shirts in uniform . yes i’m not picking . the closest person the real is inspector luger . a guy like him was in every pct or specialty detective squad .
btw i absolutely love the show
I once asked both a detective, and an ADA (that had started out as a cop), and they both said, Barney Miller, and Night Court were the 2 most realistic examples of the justice system!🤪
I’d always heard that. Nice you hear that from someone with a professional perspective. I love this show!
How realistic was NYPD Blue?
A Barney Miller channel is desperately needed in these trying times.
Runs nightly on Antenna TV but they're missing a few seasons

I remember watching it when first run, was considered a great sitcom by many.
Underrated? I think not.
Jack James Wow Hal Linden was nominated every year of the show for an Emmy it seems like. that's great because normally a lead actor isn't appreciated as much as the popular supportings

Barney Miller is one of the best ever. I've watched it with my mother since I was a little girl. I got my children to watch it and my children will pass it on.❤R.I.P. all of the officers and characters from the one-two. We love you💙

This show is frighteningly accurate about events that are happening now. It's like these writers had some sort of crystal ball.

Like the scary stuff of today with changing gender
Just the fact Levitt could deliver such a serious and emotional monologue while dressed in drag illustrates just how brilliantly acted and written this show was. No other show has ever come close to its brilliance.
Yes, this show was way ahead of its time. Everything true to this day. What a beautiful cast. Perfect castings lovely people, wonderful actors. Great show, love it completely.
@Richard Afflitto He was also in High Anxiety, but I don't know if he got the job on Barney Miller, because of him starring in the movie, or if he got the movie job for his good portrayal of Levitt on this series.
I agree.
Have you seen the interview with Hal Linden and how he talked about the show ending. It was because the producers didn't think they could put together a quality show anymore

Except maybe M*A*S*H...😉
This show is just jam packed with excellent actors
The format was the greatest vehicle to showcase incredible character actors.
One of the best intro jams of ANY show! Bass drums horns! Not to mention WTC in the background. RIP.
Best ever. 2nd is Brooklyn 99 and there's a reason lol That show has been inspired HEAVILY by barnry miller.
I think it was Tom Scott and the LA Express
Before Wikipedia, we had Dietrich
The scene with Levitt at the end is BRILLIANT. Really demonstrates why this was such a great show. The characters were PEOPLE, to be admired, but flawed and human all the same... and possessed of enough integrity to admit they were wrong. GREAT episode.
STNeish Agree. 📺🎬🎞️🎥
Exactly! Even a character like Leavitt who is mostly comic relief has layers and depth to him. Every character was flawed, funny but not one dimensional cartoons like they could've been in the wrong hands. That was all Danny Arnold because Hal Linden said that he often asked the actors if he felt they might have played the scenes a little over the top or silly in rehearsals if they would seek help from a police officer like that. Brilliant cast and writers!
Exactly. They are REAL people (almost) lol This show is about the human condition. Period.
"Klein....E-I? e-i....oh" 35 years, I finally caught it...these guys were BRILLIANT!
I remember watching this with my Dad , he loved this show. To see it now and realize just how well written it was, I now can understand why he liked it so.
SOME OF THE BEST WRITTEN AND MOST UNDER APPRECIATED TRUE COMEDY,,,BRILLIANT WRITING AND ACTING. TODAYS ATTEMPTS AT THIS ARE PETHETIC TO SAY THE LEAST.
OW! STOP YELLING! 🙉🙀
Really enjoyed Barney Miller; and, continue to enjoy it every night. Every single actor contributed a large portion to the success of this nightly series. Out of all the actors, Barney and Wojo are the only surviving charactors. Oh and Barney's TV wife.

Ahhh the cycle of the eras. Some people who grew up in the 50s prob thought Barney Miller was crap. Some who grew up on radio shows in the 30s prob thought I Love Lucy was crap. And so on... and so on....
No. TV today is garbage which is why I cut my cable.
When this show came out my dad was on the force as a watch commander. He looked exactly like Hal Linden from the hair- mustache- nose and even in the face. We were all amazed at the similarities.
RIP dad and RIP Hal Linden
Watching this show / 40 years later, and it’s still good ! ( if not, better than the stuff they put on tv today ! )

I just want to say, who ever on here posted all these episodes. Thank you.

for some reason i really enjoyed the VHS tracking issues.
I know , I laughed, too, about the tracks. 😊
Barney Miller was a very realistic vision of things to come and a hell of a funny show. The actors were incredibly believable and the writing impeccable. As a TV Freak I was able to watch all of these episodes each weak and the idea's were fresh. Observing them today I am amazed at the look into the future of our lives. The reality of events then are almost mirrored of today's screwy world. HOLY CRAP!!
Umm... Crap isn't holy.
Love Barney Miller, Dietrich is my favorite character (his dry sense of humor and intelligence), followed by Wojo ! Sad that most characters have died .
George Cogswell Hal,and Max are still with us
Why don't they tell us how they died? All relatively young!
I see a lot of Dietrich's influence in Ghostbusters. He's basically Spengler.

Dietrich " Uh ... I'm drained" priceless.
This is a really great episode. All the casts was great but man the writers really gave Leavitt and Harris some strong character stuff here. Both characters got to show such different sides of themselves: The usually self absorbed Harris showing some genuine appreciation for Mr. Golden and the usually brown nosing and boy scout Leavitt being revealed as the "snitch" as well as standing up for himself and being so genuine with the guys. This is probably the moment the squad officially accepted him as one of their own. Where is characterization, writing and acting like this in today's sitcoms?

The " conspiracy stories " were and are fact. They have a club and we ain't in it.
First heard of the illuminati and the NWO around this time 1975-76 listeng to the adults as they played cards. This was a time when people actually got together and did things.
It's not a conspiracy theory if it keeps coming true.

One of my favorite episodes was when Wojo brought in hash muffins his girlfriend had made ! They all had one or more and got stoned. Nick came in and said “has anyone seen my legs? They’re about this long?”, Holding his arms out to show how long. My mother, who was a straight arrow, almost died laughing. She was a convert after that. We never missed another episode. I MISS BARNEY MILLER!,

Yeah that was the funniest episode for sure. Harris..."it's hash, judging by how I feel". Barney..."Can you function"? Harris...."Sharp as a tack"!
"Hey. How 'bout us guys go down to the beach and shoot some clams?"
" you know you guys ain't human!? You guys are a couple of hotdogs that what you are!"
Hal Linden was so well-known, he got an episode on the Muppet Show and ended up against the talent of Gonzo the Great.(Dave Goelz). 4th of July vs. Christmas!
I just love the serious and the humourous situations exhibited in each show. It keeps you on your toes to see and hear. Leavitt finally gets more dialogue other than yes sir and no sir. I really love all the characters especially the bad ones. Thanks utube.
Good ol’ Barney Miller. Got my 33 year old son to watch with me, good laughs! One of the very few sitcoms my father watched when households had one TV and 4 networks (reruns on channels 36 & 48 from Boston). Living in NH, we only got ABC and PBS. So, it was outside all the time and Saturday morning cartoons. Every week day night, 6 o’clock news…
Truly priceless in every respect of a perfect cop sitcom and real comedy

+poor man's kung fu This episode like so many was "ripped from the headlines". Members of the Trilateral Commission had just released a paper called "On the Governing of Democracies" which said that the U.S. had an "excess of democracy" and that government should be more centralized. This report was not secret and there was a lot of anger and fear around what it meant. BTW Yemana is Japanese. He used to be mistaken for Chinese fairly often and one of his catch phrases is "I'm not Chinese."
+Eileen D You're welcome! After I posted that I searched around online and the report I'm talking about had actually come out about six years previously, but people were definitely still talking about it and were very concerned about the TLC -- especially in light of Reagan being elected. (This episode aired in January '81 but had probably been written some months previously.) Note that the main story of the episode is the field associate being a co-worker (someone you think you can trust) -- and then Dietrich reveals he's a member of the TLC, albeit one who takes Mr. Klein seriously and agrees with him.
this show was too good for the general public. honestly. Most people just didn't 'get it'. not only brilliantly acted, also brilliantly written and researched. a thinking persons program, more thoughtful and serious than comedic.. but the comedy/humour was also brilliantly placed and paced. just unforgettable.
Well, it did run for 8 seasons.
They don't make shows like this anymore. Oh, they're still "political" shows, but it's always from the FAR left perspective and "progressive" agendas being shoved down our throats 🤦

🥲 I loved watching this show on reruns as a kid, I didn't get half of the jokes at the time, but I understood the sarcasm, the respect, and the bond co-workers develop. Watching it as an adult I can see just how good it was. The writing balance of comedy & serious emotion blended so well, the casting was so perfect and they all acted so well it's like they actually were that person, so genuine, I mean! ❤
I love the way this is a three-camera show but not performed in front of a live audience. It has that stagey quality but with the more polished and relaxed atmosphere of a single-camera production. Quite unique!

Barney Miller was always my favorite sitcom. Great writing, great actors, and classic comedic timing.
Many different police departments have said that of all the television shows that depict the police-that Barney Miller was by far the most realistic representation of what a typical day is for them
In the 70's. Now, we are all looked at as potential criminals and the police have no digression to do the right thing when given evil orders of "duty", like being told to stand down during a mass shooting, (which we never had in the Wild West), and protesters/agitators burning down peoples businesses. That is also called "progress".
They have different bosses than they had in the 70's. We were still respected as individuals in the 70's for the most part.
I was trying to adjust the tracking while watching this.
Also this spectacular gem is described as 'the closest to real life cop show ever made'.
I like Dietrich's attitude: He has a blase, detached, nonchalance matched with a keen, pithy wit.
