That "+1 Lap" thing is actually a neat idea. What it looks like is, once the countdown timer starts, the next time you cross the finish line is just the end, and if you weren't on the final lap you just get that note tacked on to your placement. This does limit the rare cases where someone in front of you fucks up royally and you re-overtake them, but on the whole, that'll make it so there's a lot less lingering at the end of races since the countdown timer won't always have to run to the end.
