Hi Will. Thanks for your videos and demos, they been a real help. I'm fairly convinced I'll go for the Broil King 500. I'm looking at garden storage options and just wondered if you could tell me the height to the too of the chimney stack please? I'm not sure if the heights given in the manual is the lid or chimney height. Cheers!
That was a great review Will. This is my 3rd year with my Regal 500 but had not seen the Crown reviewed before. For me, the Regal is well worth the extra cost (especially since I'm using it in a very cold climate during the winter. Then again, they are Canadian eh! :-D (I did have connectivity problems to start until I switched my network frequency).
Thank you mate, for me aswell the regal is worth the extra but as an entry level into Bk pellet grills I think this is great but of kit. It was 1c when I filmed this video and it did seem to cope okay but it just needs a little bit more insulation. Ahaha I never use the app
@@WillsGrillShack 1c? -Shorts weather for me! lol I have used the R500 down to -20c, but the issue is the warm-up time is too long to use on a regular basis. I've actually considered making an externally insulated blanket in order to use it more often. (wifi from 2.3 to 5ghz or vice-versa - I can't remember now)
Good review. The things you wish it had like insulation on the lid and a bigger hopper means you want a Regal at Crown prices. We all want Prime (AAA) beef at Choice(AA) prices but a person has to choose what their budget allows.
Great review Will it’s good to know the difference looks like you get what you pay for. The Regal is the dogs in pellet smokers I’m enjoying using mine so much. I’m looking at getting the small Treager Ranger for the motorhome. Got one on back order from Socal.
Hello , I just ordered one of these I was wondering do I need to season this inside and out including the grates ? also would you recommend putting a gasket on the cooking chamber ?? Cheers
Hello will your videos are great. I have a question i have the broil king crown 500 but a problem with smoking. If i want to do a trout or mackerel it has almost no smoke on it. Normally you put it only 30- 45 on smoke in a normal grill an you habe enough smoke on it. I think the problem is that the grill has no chimney like the reagel. I done the fish 1.45 in smoke but almost no taste maybe you have a idea. Regards from germany
I was looking into the Smokin Brothers premier 36” and then stumbled onto the Broil King because I have one of their gas grills. And I noticed there’s a Crown, Regal and now a PRO 500. Trying to figure out what the pro adds other than the stainless grates, and front casters. Any ideas?
Will Im just looking into buying a Broil King and I cant decide which one to choose!! Crown or Regal? So can you just decide for me?? Please, it would be much appreciated!! Thanx mate!!
Do you have any issues getting the BK Regal to stay at the smoke setting temperature? I just got mine and the grill runs way over the low smoke temp setting. If you have any tips that would be great! Thanks for your reviews.
@@WillsGrillShack I have the Regal 500. I have been reading forums and it seems that the fan is supposed to "pulse" at temps below 230F. Mine just runs constant. I called customer support and was told I wasn't following proper start procedures. It's the 4th pellet grill I've owned, granted first one that is not a Traeger. Apparently I have to set a temp hotter than the smoke setting upon start up, then let the grill establish that temperature before selecting the smoke setting. At which point he said the low temp desired will be achieved. I am testing this out today. We shall see... PS it was your Traeger vs BK brisket video that convinced me to pick up the Regal 500!
@@WillsGrillShack Broil King Customer Service is sending me new Temperature Control parts. Hopefully that does the trick! I can't wait to cook another Brisket!

Couldn’t agree more, it does a job for the money

Yeah I think so, the crown is on offer at £999 from socal atm so it’s very reasonable. The Traeger ranger is really good, perfect for taking away
Hello , I just ordered one of these I was wondering do I need to season this inside and out including the grates ? also would you recommend putting a gasket on the cooking chamber ?? Cheers
Hi, I would let it run at 175c for 30 mins to season. I would recommend a felt gasket arround the chamber to stop any leaks
Can the smoker be fired up remotely from the app so no need to go out at 3 in the morning to start it up?
What type of pellets did you use? Do you have to use broil king pellets?
Hi, are you able to send me a link to what you would use to seal the lid? Thank you

You also get a shelf on the pro I think but that’s it. Only available in US and Canada I think
I just ordered the broil king baron 500
You’ll enjoy it for sure
@@WillsGrillShack it's the lower end one right?
@@rickbalderas4033 yeah, broil king entry pellet grill

That’s correct
Good honest review there Will.
Thank you for watching mate
Can you say about setting a pre set temperature pls
Do you mean changing the presets?
Always enjoy your videos. Have you used the rotisserie yet on the Regal? Nice review on the more affordable option BK!
Thanks mate! I’ve used the rotisserie a couple of times and have a video coming in a couple of weeks. It works very well
@@WillsGrillShack Looking forward to the rotisserie video!!
