It is really nice that tourists come here still in the time of war. Just one thing to say, please, don`t say unapproved things like Ukraine blew bridges in Kyiv making it an isle =) The only bridge across Dnipro we destroyed is in Kherson, it is 700km from Kyiv driving south.

Please stop saying “the Ukraine.” It’s not “the Ukraine,” it’s just Ukraine without the “the.” Saying “the Ukraine” is implying that Ukraine belongs to another entity. It might not seem like a huge deal, but in the Russian language there’s a similar saying referring to “the Ukraine.” Some pro-war Russians say “на Украине” instead of “в Украине” which means “on Ukraine” instead of “in Ukraine.” I’m super glad you had a good experience in Kyiv as a tourist even during the war!

Some people won't care, but others may be quite offended especially during the war (since saying "the Ukraine" implies that it's a smaller region of a larger empire). But overall it's really cool that you went there. I visited in 2019 when Zelensky was elected, but I've been eager to return sometime in the future. One of the smaller cities I visited where I met a lot of people was half-destroyed, which was really sad to me..

Recently, I watched several videos of one US youtuber who visited Ukraine just after russia. It's insane. It happened not long ago soon after russia had changed some US citizens for russian spies and the russian killer, who had been caught in Germany. So, please consider your safety while travelling. In Ukraine people should just use common sense and understand that missle or drone strike might happen unexpectedly. Unfortunatelly, hotels are targets, too. But in russia a US citizen might become a hostage of the regime to be exchanged for another killer
