So here is the thing, you are drinking the ouzo after something sweet. This messes up your taste buds. Ouzo is usually enjoyed with fish food with lemon or vinegar. You have a full bottle, give it a shot. Cheers.
Hello guys!!!!! Greek here!! Well, Matt made a great job! Those are not tourist snacks but also they are not the most signature greek ones (although caprice wafers, the ion chocolates and of course baklava and ouzo definitely are)!! But you have tasted more signature ones in the other greek taste test you had!!! The Full45 cookies have SO MANY other flavors like tahini, moca, chocolate, strawberry flavored yogurt and more!! The ION chocolates are the most famous chocolates in Greece, we love them! The orange biscuits...actually the original ones are the chocolate biscuits with chocolate filling but there also those fruity ones with orange, strawberry, banana, coconut and lemon (the best of them in my opinion)! I don't have to say much about baklava, it's a tradition here and i wouldn't say it's so difficult to make! It's just fyllo pastry filled with nuts and cinammon and syrup!! Ouzo is not my fave too Kate! I can't drink it at all but i like ouzo flavored things and the smell of it! It's served with the food or before the main course along with some appetizers!!
Tsipouro is greatest.Ancient greek drink, only from grapes, double distillerate and the most pure and clear drink ..No headache after tsipouro..Taste it if u come in Greece
My Mother took a vacation to Greece, about 45 yrs ago, and brought home Bahklava. It was triangle cut wedges of layers of phyllo dough with honey and chopped pistachios! It was delicious! I have never found any to match, but that often is the case with a memory of something delicious!
Matt did such a great job bringing back all these treats to try! Brent and I were talking about Baklava last weekend! A Greek restaurant we love, they make it fresh everyday, and it’s HEAVEN! The stuff you guys tried had great crunch on the outside still! You can’t eat a whole piece at our favorite restaurant, because it’s so rich, but it makes you close your eyes and just hear beautiful music play 🥰 Hope Matt had a great time while in Greece! And hoping that you all have such a fabulous week and weekend ahead! Boops to Bob and Penny and all our love all around! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😘😘😘😘😘😘😘
He did didn’t he! Go Matt 😀😀 oh my word!!! Fresh everyday. Amazing 😍😍 oh if only I could fly over now and taste it fresh. Lots of love and hugs to you all and Boops to grizzly too!! ♥️🥰♥️🥰♥️🥰♥️🥰♥️🥰♥️🥰♥️
Omg Baklava is sooo delicious!!! I once found a box of them at Aldi and I ate most of it in a week. Than I couldn't eat more for a while lol but I would eat some today if I could. I love that pistachio and honey combo some of them have.
Also ouzo is made from star anise oils so from there comes the aroma and taste is also served before meals or during the day mainly Greeks drink it early in the afternoon with some side dishes such as tomatoes, salted fish, cheese , olives and more. .
One of my BFF'S when I was a teenager made me homemade baklava for either my birthday or Christmas.(Can't remember which) It was so good. I would love to have some more someday.
Funny thing is that the guy said that baklava tastes like something for Christmas and he was right! We Greeks prepare baklava along with other sweets every Christmas!
Greek here! Maybe it's because I'm from the USA, but I've never taken to Ouzo. Blah. Also, baklava is a very traditional Greek pastry that's so yummy, but a true labor of love to create. So many burns from the molten honey-yikes! Thanks for the entertainment ♥️
@@ThisWithThem Well, I guess every spirit has some "ritual" in order to fully enjoy it. Ouzo in my opinion needs Greek summer under a pergola with lots of fried or salted fish to accompany it. Otherwise it gives you shivers down your spine..... :-)
BAKLAVA is delicious !!! Persians / Iranians claim that Baklava is theirs and Greek claim it to be theirs. Persian / Iranian is slightly different as I believe it has rosewater and maybe pistachios in it.
Ouzo is nice but yes it is strong with the anise and volume, so I understand why Kate would not be able to drink a whole glass, if she's not that into liquorice etc. But what you poured up seems like a nice amount to me. Those baklava really did look so delicious, and I love nuts so much and I really like dark chocolate, so I'm sure I'd love those chocolate covered pistaccios, and yeah its not that common to see, we mostly get chocolate covered Peanuts, Almonds or hazelnuts.

The origin of baklava is from the Ottoman Empire so it is not necessarily Greek, but pretty much anywhere the OE occupied with many regional variations.
Great video guys. Thanks Matt for providing such a great box of snacks, this was a funny video and when do we get to see Matt? Have a great and safe week🦋💕

There’s many a reason Greek/Mediterranean food has always been one of my favorites and baklava is just one of those reasons 😍
Technically, baklava is Turkish. But after so many centuries of co-existence it has been integrated in the Greek cuisine.
