I introduced 3 masive Macropodus Opercularis (Paradise Fish) in my Peacock Gudgeon tank. Guess what, Macropodus got destroyed by male Gudgeons and i had to do an emergency move to save them. Peacock Gudgeons are no joke, aquatic psiho devils.
@@Fishtory Ooooh, thanks for the warning. I have 2 gudgeons with my batch of macropodus opercularis teens. Though the gudgeons are babies too, lol, but I can see that they won't be pushed over or taking any shit. At all. So far so good but I'll keep an eye.
Dear Alexander: The first amano shrimp that I purchased jumped out the first night. Since then I have covered the rest of my, five tanks with form-fitted, glass canopies. You might want to invest in these. I was concerned that the plants in my, planted tank might not do as well if the light passed through glass, but they are all low-light plants and that doesn’t seem to be an issue. It’s sad when our pets destroy each other, but as you know that is their natural instinct and they shouldn’t be blamed. Thank you for another, very informative and entertaining video. Sincerely, E. J. Brinegar
Dear Mary Paige Flynn: It’s nice to see that a few people appreciated this comment, which I made three years ago. I tend to avoid leaving them on big channels, these days. Many of the most popular, FishFam UA-camrs don’t have time to respond to comments, as they get hundreds on each video. Lately, I’ve only been leaving comments on smaller Channels. But, perhaps I should leave some where more people are likely to see them. Thank you for your, continued support. All my best, Sincerely, Brinegar
+David Hodges haha thanks. I know it'll probably rebound, it was my fault....but who would have thought 2 fish would both leap? "Love " or "fish love" is powerful i guess
+pecktec yeah totally. They were peaceful at first, but the spawning pair went on a random rampage terrorizing other fish in the tank too... forktails and neon rainbows got nipped the days leading up to it
Now I have no personal experience with Rainbow Gudgeons, but from what I've heard they are intelligent fish. Could it be that they saw the shrimp, then saw the gap and went for it? You should create a similar setup with a camera and see if you can replicate it.
Yeah my peacock gudgeon aren't so peaceful either. They have ripped off three fish tails and they're the reason I got a tank but the "very peaceful " part is false. I have two female and will get a male hopefully that calms them down. I feel your pain.
From what I have read, they seem to need lots of cover and at least 3 other members of their species in the tank to feel comfy, and they tend to lash out aggressively when their needs aren't met.
i heard that whenever you have less than 4 they are more prone to get aggressive but if you have more then thats when they do become peaceful. im planning on getting a couple for my community tank but idk :/
the trick is idk how many i dont want them harassing my fish or kill them. i don’t know how you dont hate them already. i had a similar oposite situation where my shrimp would kill each other and my other guppies and i hate shrimp now :)
Dude my peacock goby killed 2 julii corys on me!!! I recently added 3 males, store had no females. The 1 is chill so I went & bought 2 more. Well I woke to a baby julii with bruising all over him dead! Next night found a slightly bigger one dead & they both had been active & happy 😢 I love the gobys but they are not proving to be peaceful like I was lead to believe
My peacocks slaughter snails 🐌 which I don't mind so much because they are pest snails. It's incredibly intriguing to watch, they carefully calculate their attack by turning at a slant getting them in their line of sight and strike like raptors.
