I started crying halfway thru this. You took time a few months ago to answer a very newbie question I had and your kindness meant a lot to me. I'm not a member, so maybe I don't have any right to comment, but I feel like you probably aren't aware of how many people you've helped, and how much everyone enjoys your videos. You're smart & you keep things real & so interesting. You've really been thru it right now, but you'll be ok...one step at a time. I'll be thinking of you❤
To everyone watching, this is a great channel. I just became a member. Im so very sorry for your losses. It sux when things like this happen. I've been following for months. Everything i know about plenums i learned from you and ff. Im praying the majority will pull through. Dont apologise for being emotional. Love from Australia 🇦🇺
Thank you, so much, for sharing!!!!! Who knew that plants would react this way? You’re helping us SO much! I just LOVE YOU! I’m so sorry that you’re hurting, but please know that your pain is not in vain. So many fish and plants will live because you were brave enough to share with other hobbies. ❤
@Fishtory I am so sorry that you are going through this. I know how much you love your animals. I can’t even imagine how devastated you must be. Love and prayers brother.
OMG, Alex. You have been through so much. You are an inspiration not only in the fish world but as a human being. I wish I had half the strength that you have. I feel your pain and I feel so badly for you but I admire your spirit. You're entitled to have a bit of a breakdown. ❤
I live in london been watching you since you started ypur the only one i watch with scientific explanations in this hobby.please dont give up everything will turn around my friend .
I am so very sorry for your loss. I feel your pain. I lost three mature tanks earlier this year due to a house fire. Killed me when I removed my fishy friends. They ended up in my flower garden. Much Love and many prayers to you.
Sending you hugs and prayers, I'm so sorry. But this is something that you couldn't have prevented . I went through something similar this summer, lost power for two days. I lost a lot of fish, including my beloved Ranchu goldfish, and was just devastated.
Ok just finished the video and my first comment is SO inadequate! I'm so sorry for all this, my friend. Isn't it wierd- I'm all the way in Oklahoma, we've never met, but I consider you my friend and I'm hurting for you. I am lifting you and wife in my prayers that God will reveal Himself to you in amazing ways and know that He is real and He loves you. You mentioned feeling not good enough - you are not good enough, my friend. None of us are. We are only made good enough through Jesus Christ. UA-cam is really gonna hate me saying that! I am a 5 year stroke survivor and I also am dealing with the smack in the face that I'm not going to be able to do things in life I dreamed of, of medical bills so scarey we didnt know if we would lose our house, even basic stuff like driving is gone. I'm lucky to cook a meal without forgetting a burner and torching the house! BUT- this old brain can still learn from you! I entered the hobby at the encouragement of a home health nurse. I found you on YT and you've taught me everything! I'm gonna stop here and hit my knees in prayer and I hope you feel it ❤. Then I'm gonna need somebody to help me off the floor 😂. Love you Alex.
Lots of hugs, Alex! Same here in the PNW and the power outage in the Eastside took a toll. Thank you for all you do with answering questions and contributing to our community.
I'm so so sorry for your loss. I'm setting up a 20 gallon because my 40b is too much for me. The scariest thing for me is finding a heater I can depend on. Sending all good thoughts and a prayer for strength and recovery.
I feel for you. And I'm so happy you know when it's time to make a change... it can be so hard to, but it will be for the best in the long run I'm sure. I could learn a thing or two from you!
Hugs Alex❤ Thanks for sharing the reality of fish keeping. I live in Canada and this is absolutely a possibility for me. Thank you for sharing the details of your response to this tragedy. I'm so, so sorry this happened to you. I can't tell you how much I am pulling for you to rise up out of this devastation.
Alex I started watching your videos about a year ago and since then I've watched about 70%of your videos including lives and I can honestly say you're my go to whenever I have an issue or question or want to look something up I always look for your content first , that's what drew me into your channel is your honesty and knowledge and kindness, you are so understanding and I'm genuinely heartbroken for you and I will gladly continue watching your old content until I'm at 100 because although i can't do much money wise I will try my hardest to make the algorithm push out your content, seeing how life has gone for you is harrowing but you always look to the positive side and it is inspiring, I'm sorry means very little in the midst of something like this but I am sending love and positivity back to you and also your wife, I really do hope you get to go to the jungle, if anyone deserves it it's you, you mean well and ask for so little in return for how much you give, try and keep your chin up because so many of us want you to just be happy, when I say we appreciate you, it's coming from a place of respect,Ill be back when you are fish friend, until then I wish you the best and even though I'm not religious I will send prayers your way, 💚
This is very moving. Thank you. It really makes me more happy than anything else, hearing that someone has been positively inspired by my videos on the hobby. Thank you so much! Take care
Your channel is the best. I watch you all the time and have learned a lot more from you than any other. Big thanks for making these vids. I am truly grateful. I feel deeply for your loss but what doesn’t break you makes you stronger. I have blood cancer and my tanks are my godsend. ❤
Hey Alex, I'm so sorry about your fish! What a horrible thing to have happen on top of everything else. Please don't compare your struggles to other people's, yours are absolutely VALID and you're allowed to feel the way you feel! I'm already subscribed to your channel, and that won't change, but I want to figure out a way for myself and for your other viewers to help you further. Which of your videos are monetized where you will get the most money (e.g. not have YT steal the half that should go to another content creator)?
Oh, this is devastating! What a wild chain of misfortune… thank you for sharing what you are going through. I’m impressed that you could explain what happened… I would just be panicking. My heart breaks for you. Please keep us updated on what happens. The survivors are counting on you. Your videos are always so compelling but hopefully there won’t be so much drama in your next show. Stay strong ❤
@@Fishtory This is understandable and very human no need for regret. If I were in your shoes I'd not be this put together at all. Take your time to recover and keep doing what is good for you first. Best wishes
Massive hug, dude, you are experiencing extreme stress and sadness, and it must hurt. You've been such a star. When I got worms from bought shrimp, you saved me and made me feel like I had not failed. Your situation is so much more, but you've got this. We love you, hold on.
Oh my gosh, I am so sorry to hear this. I knew that there was a big storm. I didn’t realize how bad it was, though. I am down here in Portland, Oregon. I also lost a bunch of fish recently, but that was because I had to move my…. I really am struggling with the whole thing about feeling the responsibility of these poor little creatures in these glass boxes, so my thoughts and feelings definitely go out to you so so sorry man… I am planning a trip up to seattle I bought some stuff from you in Person about a year ago. I don’t know if you remember me or not. I’m the mental health professional so anyways once again sorry to hear everything that you’re going through. Take care of yourself. If you’re in the right situation, maybe I can throw some money your way and get some more plants and maybe even some fish and a couple weeks…. anyways man, I’m so sorry to hear all the trouble you’re going through. I know that you were also working on redoing all of your tanks. slow and steady slow and steady. The only thing that I could say is you know what you’re doing and you’re doing everything you can love all your stuff you do keep on being you….
My heart goes out to you! It sounds heartbreaking. I haven't finished watching yet, but I want you to know I feel like crying myself. And this reminds me that it will be my turn to face a disaster. The crazy times we are living in...
I feel for you so deeply. We lost power for 8 days in Helene and lost a few fish but were lucky that temperature wasn’t a factor yet. It’s such a panic inducing and hopeless feeling to sit in the dark surrounded by the animals we love, watching their decline. We do the best we can. Sending love to you and yours.
I am so sorry for your struggles and loss friend. Much love and compassion to you and your fishy friends. Keep on going. You are appriated. I appreciate your genuine open-ness. I love listening to your lessons and stories, though share your pain with this difficult experience and challenge. xxoo
Hang in there, you are one of the most informative people that I watch. Hopefully things will work out and get better. My prayers are with you and your wife . Sincerely Debbie
Sorry for your loss, man. This is a major reason I've converted to unheated planted aquariums. Now, when I deal with power outages in norcal, they just continue on like LRB's tanks. To be clear, I still love my filtration, but my tanks can continue without it!
I'm sooo sorry for your loss. I'm glad to know you and your family are safe and unhurt. I know your fish are close to your heart, there are no word I can offer to express how sorry I am. 😢
I'm so sorry Alex. This is just so heartbreaking. Wishing you healing and hopefully you got some help cleaning up and moving towards rebuilding your beautiful tanks.
Health is the most precious thing we have in life, I'm so sorry you have to go through other difficulties that add on to it. Especially as UA-cam, made of people who build, brick after brick, a community to earn their living and bring value at the same time, has become a place where rules are applied with absolutely no distinction. ❤to the fish you lost 🐠
I love your content! Your one of the most personable as well as most knowledgeable creators on YT. I just setup a 5.5 gallon, 10 gallon and 20 gallon long today, well semi-setup that is. I made RO water to go in all tanks and installed substrate in smaller two tanks. I just filled the 20 long up with RO water, covered the top with floating plants, plopped in a big ball of Java Moss, i'm waiting to substrate it until later. I don't have have any livestock for any these tanks so far. I'm thinking about catching some wild fish for 20 long temporarily, as i would eventually like to get into cold water aquatics. I've been keeping a small Breem and nearly 20 Eastern Mosquito Fish for several months that i caught wild off property here in central Alabama. I have 2 male Mosquito Fish in a heavily planted Pickle Jar and 1 female Mosquito Fish in another planted Pickle Jar. The Breem and the rest of the Mosquito Fish live together in a 15 gallon plastic tub with a sponge filter. 😂❤ i SWEAR that BREEM is the most fun fish that I am keeping, it kind of reminds me of a dog, not joking. Ha ha! I have two 10 gallons setup also as tropical tanks, #1 has Fire Red Neocaridinas, Emerald Dwarf Rasboras, two Kinds of Nerite snalis and thanks to yourself it also has Malawa Shrimps, it's deep substrate, heavily planted. Tanks#2 has Blue Dream Neocaridinas, Strawberry Rasboras, Dwarf Corys, Japanese Trapdoor Snails, Red Spotted Nerites and 1 Malawa Shrimp, i dropped in from out of tank#1. Yeah! I just got back into the hobby today, i had been thinking about quitting and giving my aquatics stuff away because of feeling so much uncertainty about being able to care for everything long term. Providing proper heat has been a prime concern! I have a hygger heater that i bought a few weeks ago and it has acted really weird few times but it hasnt yet boiled my pets 😮 The state of the aquarium heater industry sucks from what i can tell! 😢 Anyway.... You have helped me tremendously, in this my first year in the hobby, since i was 10 or 11 years old back in 1978/79. I am rooting for you and hoping to become a financial supporter asap. I'm between jobs at the moment having told the last one to shove it a week ago but should soon be back to work again. Best of luck! Alex. You're the best! ❤😊
I'm not trying to be smug or anything, and I understand it was severe weather event. But I keep hearing so much about blackouts all over the USA. I think the last blackout I remember going through was like 30 years ago, here in Europe, and it was at most a couple of hours. Maybe I just got lucky with the weather....
It was bad bad weather... 200km wind gusts... but yes, there have been far more power grids failing, and bigger storms doing this damage the last 5 to 10 years...like I think in 10 years we broke 3 or 4 records for biggest power outtages lol... also America is huge and a lot of stuff is old infrastructure above ground...and only urban infrastructure is up to date and under ground valted
My heart just goes out to you man. You've been seriously handed a rough, rough season in your life. It's amazing to see your passion for the hobby, even when you're talking about all the UA-cam crap with the Cichlid video. We need people like you in the hobby, people who don't just see an animal as a doller sign. Obviously making money to survive and just cover the costs of all the crap life has handed you is nice and would be ideal, but what I'm trying to say is there are so, so, so many people out there who work in an animal focused industry (including social media in these modern times) who see the animals they work with as literally nothing but a dollar amount. I dunno, just hearing how much you really really gave to that video even in the midst of obviously experiencing a lot of grief over UA-cam's actions was refreshing. I wish we could wave a magic wand and just make everything better. I don't know you obviously, and I'm a newer viewer of your channel, but as one human being to another, I'm so sorry life keeps throwing you all this shit, and unlike the other fellow who posted i'm not religious, but I will say that I really really hope things even out for you and your family. Nothing that has happened is your fault. You had no control over the lighting you had no control over your leg getting infected, you had no control over the power outage, or anything else that has happened. And most importantly NONE of it is your fault. I got the "sense" (maybe in just projecting though) that maybe you were holding back a feeling of being responsible somehow for how things have been turning out for you and obviously I'm just a stranger on the internet, but remind yourself daily that none of this is your fault. This is a shitty season. As Gandalf says, "all we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us." I can't promise anything will get better, but at least for now just keep putting one foot in front of the other. And this is my psychologist part speaking but seriously don't underestimate the power of therapy during times like these. I know money is essentially not available for you at this time for something like that but some therapists offer pro bono sessions and honestly I feel like you definitely qualify as "deserving" of that, if you want to frame it like that. I also wanted to say that the video you mentioned of the cichlids did not pop up for me on my home page, so I'm off to search for it and watch it. I honestly agree and think UA-cam's algorithm just didn't show that video to some of us and I don't think the view numbers you saw on it are reflective of actual interest from your subscribers. So thank you for mentioning it so those of us who didn't see it can now go find it! Also, again psychology background, try to remind yourself that those performance summaries UA-cam spits out are designed to treat you the same way a lot of people treat animals. As a money making machine. It's designed to mentally manipulate you so it can use you for all your worth based on guilting and jabbing at your self-esteem. Hang in there, you've got this, one foot in front of the other
Thank you so much ... you and I have similar outlooks on life, I can tell. Your words were very powerful to read. Thank you kindly. I appreciate your support and interest in the channel, and compassion for a fellow human ( and creatures big and small). We need this more now than ever. Hugs.
@@Fishtory All the hugs man, i'm glad my comment was useful in one way or another for you. 13 days since this video and you're doing great keeping-on keeping on. You've got this
Alex, I'm so terribly sorry. I only discovered your channel earlier this year, but ever since then I have been watching your videos almost every single day. I sit in front of my own tanks and listen to you talk and I find your content endlessly fascinating. I know I don't really know you, but you really feel like a friend to me now. You have had much more than your fair share of hardships and my heart hurts for you. I really hope something amazing happens for you very soon!
Thank you so very much. I'll definitely be rebuilding soon and I'll put your support to good use and share the results on the channel. Thank you so kindly.
Shit. That’s rough. You did your best. The storm wasn’t your fault & no matter what you think you did wrong, there were too many other factors that were not your fault. Try not to be so rough on yourself. I know the guy that who had the first breeding pair of King Kong in the whole of Australia but our summers are so damn hot & his air conditioning failed & he lost thousands of dollars & a very young colony of shrimp only just getting started. I’m really getting into shrimp but I only have a tiny apartment. Thank you for including us in your journey. Understand we (the fish fam.) are always with you in any way we can be even if only in thoughts for your hardships. I’m really worried about the heat because I don’t have enough money to turn on my air-conditioner so all I can do is just keep fans running. You’re an extremely loving, kind, strong person & all you can do is just keep doing your best like the rest of us & as long as I have followed you it is simply not in your personality to give up so just keep doing your best my friend. That’s all any of us can do. I never once ever have seen you give up because like me I noticed it’s one of your hobbies to enjoy learning & then moving forward. Several (8) years of all your hard work gone in a moment. You will rebuild with all your experience that much more efficiently. Much love from your fellow Seattleite hanging out with the roo’s🦘Down in Aus.
Hey Alex! Killer live stream as usual! You really are the most scientific based fishtuber by far! If anyone is ever unwilling to help watch your tanks while you’re away, offer them a plate of delicious char siu pork and roast duck. That is an offer most will not refuse, especially since a lot of your tanks are planted or have high nitrate uptake abilities (waldstad, uncle ka kakemoji method, gaspari valdalicci method) I have used this method twice in the past. Go to a good Chinese place and pick up a plate of half roast pork and half roast duck, with fried rice. Give it to someone you trust in trade for watching your tanks while you’re away Worked both times Goodluck! -WatermelonJiki 🍉
I'm so sorry things went haywire. Power outages and messed-up heaters are so terrible. I'm thankful we have a backup generator. When power goes out, it takes a long time to have it restored. We live way out in the middle of nowhere . If that was my tank I'd drain and examine the plants and fish
Thanks for sharing the good and the bad, it is the best way we all can learn! What stood out to me was 1) the heater heated the water to 96 degrees, so yea why would they even make a heater get that hot in the first place! 2) the heat sensor was reading a different temperature, do they require high flow to circulate heat evenly?
Yes flow is assumed...but an overplayed tank, and lots of floating plants can disrupt that... if the heater has a " fast heat mode" ( which I've decided is a poor choice of features to include for this reason specifically.)
Hey Alex. I’m so so sorry that everything is happening all at once, it’s a complete calamity - my heart is going out to you. When you said that the economy took such a hit - it’s so true. Me and my husband are both artists (he’s a chainsaw carver, I’m a painter), we make a lot of our money from shows he does. In the past three years things have been so awful - and getting more and more downhill. We spend more just in gas going to events than we make there. And if it was just us - that’s one thing, but we have two kids, and it’s so damn hard. I am not saying this to whine - just to say that this is the effect of the economy. People can’t afford anything other than necessities - and it’s not you, or you not being good enough, it’s just that things are so rough. Please keep trying, don’t give up on what you are doing. ❤ I hope that you will find a way out, I hope that a better day will come soon for you. ❤ Fingers crossed for you, praying for you and wishing you all the very very best. - Shade
Thank you. Also I'm so glad you got the power back reasonably fast. It was actually the " auto fast heat" feature when the power returned that cooked the fish sadly.
I had a 6 hour power outage this summer while I was at work and lost 11 of my prized cichlids. I know how heartbroken you must feel and devastating it can be to lose something that you put so much time into. I am sorry for your loss but I am thankful that they have a great fish daddy to fix it and make it better. I now have air pumps in every tank that run after the power goes out, a hard lesson to learn. 😢
Damn... I did not think you would need a generator in your area. I am sorry for your losses. We live - we learn. You will come back stronger, hang in there :) When we have more than 1 tank over time, there will be mistakes or extern problems. Thanks for sharing the harder times as well. Keep your head high.
Well since you already got the temps high, fill to tip top and raise 87-89F and it will speed up and kill the ich. Just a thought. It works so well for me everytime. But i do not have the selection of plants or fish you have in that one aquarium alone. I only suggest it because u have temps around there now.
an asset when electricity goes out is your water heater tank, it's full of hot water--so fill plastic bags full of that hot water and some air and float them in the aquarium before you cover with a quilt of space blanket --replace with new bags of hot water until the 50 gal water heater is cold and stir the aquarium when you do. So, so! sorry for your fish! I do know you did as will as nature . . .
😢Ah Alex, you know you've always done your best for them, maybe the fish did not want to stay for your future changes and you can really start afresh, with better equipment, don't blame yourself, much love💔💝xxx
I’m not just part of the fish fam. but more like a total bonkers Alex fan boy for sure. I’m not gay so don’t take it the wrong way. You’re just so freaking cool 😎 man & so damn tough. I can only aspire to be like you. You’re a Super Hero to me Alex.
Don't worry about the channel, take care of yourself and the house. The money dynamic has nothing to do with you, it's the economy. So focus on yourself, no worries we will all be there. Go take care of your fish and yourself. The money will come in, just focus on one day at a time.
This highlights a very serious flaw in our hobby.. Total reliance on the power grid... but with the help of any tech wizards here, we can solve it. There has to be a way for us to build an emergency pump heater system, something that can run for 48 hours off of an internal battery, with maybe a solar panel to help for longer power outages.... Nothing like that exists yet and there's no reason why it can't, i just dont have the knowledge to make it myself...
I've been thinking about you today and wondering how things are going. I would guess that there have been more losses with the ick and plant decay on top of thermal and oxygen stress. Power outages are horrible. Hang in there, Alex. I'm concerned that all of these things are going to be triggering your lupus. You really are valued by so many of us! I hope people from your aquarium club can maybe come to help get you through this. 🫂
Alex you're a good man, we all know it. Sometimes it seems the good get hit the worst. You've got this my friend, what doesnt kill us makes us stronger. We all love you dude, we're all with you.
Been in this situation before, it sucks. Lost a couple of really big Senodontis catfish I had for a long time during a long term power outage. Just know you did the best you can.
Add a thousand seed shrimp and check back in two weeks. I try to climate control the room rather than the tanks with descent results. depending on ventailation humidity could be an issue. Old school backup plans help. Maybe do some videos on preventions and recoveries, provide solutions to things like power outages? I personally would like to see this tank as it recovers. Times like this often show us where we need to be looking. Maybe you will see something new.
I have 11 half blood siblings. Not Step. Actual blood that’s a shit tonne of siblings but they are all in the United States so when I came to Australia I really was truly on my own. I found out 5️⃣ years ago. I have Autism plus in the hospital there’s significant scar tissue in my brain from a schizo that almost murdered my Mom & I from such severe beatings but my Mom is a Super Hero because she got us out of there & we survived. We all get Nasty surprises my friend (although some so very much more severe & unbelievable than others like surviving a lightning strike & many other near death experiences) but like I said the same way you have always survived I’m confidence you will get through your hardships despite how much more difficult they become with age. Adjustments will need to be made. I will no longer be keeping probably 99% of fish with that little one percent difference being strictly only what is 100% shrimp safe so only the tiniest little nano fish & Pygmy fish & extra crazy friendly fish for me like the only kind of algae eater I can have and all my nano tanks is Ottocinclus. Anyway Alex you beautiful soul. You just keep keepin’ on my friend & you in there my fellow Seattleite.
I have no words. You are having an awful day, please don't downplay it by saying others have it worse. That's a lot. That's some heavy stuff. I wish I could make it better for you. Hug your wife and know that you are doing your best and as bad as it is, you are the best person those fish could be with in this situation.
It'll be okay.. I'm still kinda waiting to see where everything flattens out...but it'll work out eventually and get back on track. Thank you. And pardon my falling to bits livestream
Are you in a house or apartment? Could you get on 02 tank for back up? Tom from New Jersey..this is just a small moment don't stress about it please. You are a Strong smart person with so much more to show the world. Even if you have 1 small tank. Take care of you first❤❤❤
@Fishtory don't get bummer out. Go for a short walk and show us some of your streams or small body's of water and what there doing this time of year. While your tanks are healing.
Alex, I hope you can take some strength from the Collective Will of your supporters. In the meantime, let's all go watch more Fishtory! videos, and nudge your UA-cam revenue up.
Sorry, I have too much to say! But it is fascinating that the plants' roots released their hold. Simply proteins denatured- or is it also a survival technique- a severe temperature change, so it's time to try to float off to a new home!
Damn. I can tell nothing hurts quite like when your fish are suffering. It’s not your fault. Focus on your health first. You’re absolutely good enough, you just got thrown another curveball and that makes everything hurt that much more. Give yourself time to rest and process. But good lord UA-cam is so anti-creator that half the creators I love get “busted” for utterly bogus copyright claims regularly. No doubt this automated copyright crap serves absolutely nobody but vultures.
I started crying halfway thru this. You took time a few months ago to answer a very newbie question I had and your kindness meant a lot to me.
Thank you very sincerely.
Whoa. See.... you are so much stronger than I am. I truly look up to people like you, going through hell and staying compassionate and kind. Thank you
Hey Alex, I'm so sorry about your fish!
Thank you. I'm just hoping to save a few fish... If i have less than 15 survivors, I'll restart the tank from scratch though.
Im so sorry for your loss and the mishaps piling up.
But I'm confident you'll make your way and it will become better.
It'll be okay, I'm sorry- i just kinda lost it for a moment there
@@Fishtory This is understandable and very human no need for regret.
Praying for you and all affected by the storm. Please find some reward in knowing that we all learned from your experience. God bless.
I Hope you don't have to deal with any of it. Thank you kindly, though.
Thank you. Also, my apologies for your loses as well.
All my best to you. Love your work.
I am so sorry for your struggles and loss friend. Much love and compassion to you and your fishy friends. Keep on going. You are appriated. I appreciate your genuine open-ness. I love listening to your lessons and stories, though share your pain with this difficult experience and challenge. xxoo
Sorry for your loss 🥲. I follow your fish journey and I’m sure you will bounce back 🙏🏼
Thank you brotha
Hang in there, you are one of the most informative people that I watch. Hopefully things will work out and get better. My prayers are with you and your wife . Sincerely Debbie
I'm so sorry to hear about all the loss you're enduring!! 😢😢
Sorry for your loss, man. This is a major reason I've converted to unheated planted aquariums. Now, when I deal with power outages in norcal, they just continue on like LRB's tanks. To be clear, I still love my filtration, but my tanks can continue without it!
FIGHT! as long as there's breath in your body Alex, shoulder down ,move forward. You're one of the good ones.
Yeah, I'm hoping I'll be able to get things back to normal-ish by Xmas. Thank you
Health is the most precious thing we have in life, I'm so sorry you have to go through other difficulties that add on to it. Especially as UA-cam, made of people who build, brick after brick, a community to earn their living and bring value at the same time, has become a place where rules are applied with absolutely no distinction.
❤to the fish you lost 🐠
You get it 100%... pardon my momentary break down
Oh Alex, hang in there sweetheart. One day at a time. HUGS
@@christinamorris2823 i appreciate this very much. So true. Thank you.
Were all there with you. Hope is all there is my friends 🧡
Best of luck to you too! You will love how far the hobby has evolved since our childhoods! Cheers
Oh so sorry to hear that 🤗 Hang in there please.
Alex you are good enough! Clean up the mess, and live one day at a time, don't give up, a moment of joy is worth more than any money in the world xxx
You may still get to Peru 🌿🐒xxx
You've got this
I am so sorry that you are going through this !!!
Thank you for such thoughtful and compassionate words. Also... welcome 🙏 . I will move on, I just had bad luck and bad luck 3x in a week
My heart is breaking for you. You are human and a good person. Keep putting one foot in front of the other.
It's so painful, so sorry mate. We've all been there regarding dead fish we love😢
You are allowed to take a moment to collect youself. Big hugs.
Thanks. I felt bad not streaming 😕
Thanks!
Thank you so very much. I'll definitely be rebuilding soon and I'll put your support to good use and share the results on the channel. Thank you so kindly.
God bless you and your wife too 😊
I’m so sorry for your loss, Alex!❤
That is an offer most will not refuse, especially since a lot of your tanks are planted or have high nitrate uptake abilities (waldstad, uncle ka kakemoji method, gaspari valdalicci method)
I have used this method twice in the past.
Go to a good Chinese place and pick up a plate of half roast pork and half roast duck, with fried rice.
Give it to someone you trust in trade for watching your tanks while you’re away
Worked both times
Goodluck!

I'm so sorry things went haywire. Power outages and messed-up heaters are so terrible. I'm thankful we have a backup generator. When power goes out, it takes a long time to have it restored. We live way out in the middle of nowhere .
If that was my tank I'd drain and examine the plants and fish
Thanks
Thank YOU
Thanks for sharing the good and the bad, it is the best way we all can learn!
I hope that you will find a way out, I hope that a better day will come soon for you. ❤
Fingers crossed for you, praying for you and wishing you all the very very best.
- Shade
I am so very, very sorry! We live in the greater Seattle area too but power was only out 20 hours for us. My heart hurts for you! Darn heaters.
😢
Sorry to hear about your losses too! it never gets easier
Damn... I did not think you would need a generator in your area.
I am sorry for your losses.
We live - we learn. You will come back stronger, hang in there :)
When we have more than 1 tank over time, there will be mistakes or extern problems.
Thanks for sharing the harder times as well. Keep your head high.
I just moved all my betta fry into a 40 gallon tank yesterday. I knew I had a heater that was broken, and I used it as well.
Eventually, I need a good power bank or generator, yeah
Well since you already got the temps high, fill to tip top and raise 87-89F and it will speed up and kill the ich. Just a thought. It works so well for me everytime. But i do not have the selection of plants or fish you have in that one aquarium alone. I only suggest it because u have temps around there now.
True
Sometimes the price we pay gets high. Humility portrays our grace. We love you Alex and know before trouble and after you preserver.
@nigeldelrocket thank you Nigel. I greatly value your wisdom and support
Sending you hugs my friend hang in there it will get better❤
an asset when electricity goes out is your water heater tank, it's full of hot water--so fill plastic bags full of that hot water and some air and float them in the aquarium before you cover with a quilt of space blanket --replace with new bags of hot water until the 50 gal water heater is cold and stir the aquarium when you do. So, so! sorry for your fish! I do know you did as will as nature . . .
Sadly we have a tankless "instant heater"... I miss the old house with a 75 gallon water heater
So sorry for you, just give yourself time to be sad ❤
By far the most difficult thing we deal with within in our hobby , absolutely heartbreaking I’m so sorry for you man. Much love
😢Ah Alex, you know you've always done your best for them, maybe the fish did not want to stay for your future changes and you can really start afresh, with better equipment, don't blame yourself, much love💔💝xxx
So sorry Alex 😢
I’m not just part of the fish fam. but more like a total bonkers Alex fan boy for sure. I’m not gay so don’t take it the wrong way. You’re just so freaking cool 😎 man & so damn tough. I can only aspire to be like you. You’re a Super Hero to me Alex.
I'm just a flawed nerd my friend. Thanks for the kind words though
I am so sorry about your losses . 😢
Don't worry about the channel, take care of yourself and the house. The money dynamic has nothing to do with you, it's the economy. So focus on yourself, no worries we will all be there. Go take care of your fish and yourself. The money will come in, just focus on one day at a time.
Thank you. I appreciate your words, greatly
If the roots were in substrate. Some may come back. So sorry to hear about your loss.
You are so correct! I gotta do some thinking about that. ( a generator is the best fix overall though)
Literally crying for you too. Love you bro
Sorry I'm a downer. That day I just lost it. I'm gonna be okay...some fish look to be surviving also. Thank you for your support my friend
Dude it happens. Heaters suck! I’ve had similar experiences soooo many times! Absolutely heart breaking😢
You'd think I'd freaking learn. .. I've lost fish to other heater brands this way too... unfortunately the ink bird was unplugged
@@FishtoryIs ink bird an Aquarium heater? if so which one would you recommend for a 55 ?
I've been thinking about you today and wondering how things are going. I would guess that there have been more losses with the ick and plant decay on top of thermal and oxygen stress. Power outages are horrible. Hang in there, Alex. I'm concerned that all of these things are going to be triggering your lupus. You really are valued by so many of us! I hope people from your aquarium club can maybe come to help get you through this. 🫂

Sending lots of love
Alex you're a good man, we all know it. Sometimes it seems the good get hit the worst. You've got this my friend, what doesnt kill us makes us stronger. We all love you dude, we're all with you.
I am so sorry for you, Alex 😢😢😢
Oh, man. Alex, I am so sorry😢
So sorry to hear this! Bad news indeed! Also, it's always the heater, huh?
Man it sure seems so! 3 or 4 times it's temperature related problems.
Been in this situation before, it sucks. Lost a couple of really big Senodontis catfish I had for a long time during a long term power outage. Just know you did the best you can.
Sorry to hear that. Thank you though
So sorry for jour loss
Tough times. Sorry buddy. take care.
I respect the crap out of you.
Well I'll try my best to keep it that way, if I can stop falling apart on livestreams lol. Thank you so kindly though
I have no words. You are having an awful day, please don't downplay it by saying others have it worse. That's a lot. That's some heavy stuff. I wish I could make it better for you. Hug your wife and know that you are doing your best and as bad as it is, you are the best person those fish could be with in this situation.
Thank you. It'll be okay. Just one step at a time
Man I'm so sorry.
It'll be okay.. I'm still kinda waiting to see where everything flattens out...but it'll work out eventually and get back on track. Thank you. And pardon my falling to bits livestream
"Good luck to you and your fish from Belgium."
Thank you kindly
I am sorry Alex 😞 😢
Don’t apologize for anything. So much of this is out of your control.
Baby steps.
I feel bad for you. I’m like you when something happens to my fish I feel sad.
I’m so very sorry. 😞 😢
Are you in a house or apartment? Could you get on 02 tank for back up? Tom from New Jersey..this is just a small moment don't stress about it please. You are a Strong smart person with so much more to show the world. Even if you have 1 small tank. Take care of you first❤❤❤
Thanks Tom
House now. But only 880 square feet...so small for a house...good sized yard- no garage or out buildings
I appreciate your support so very much. Thank you. Sorry for the drama, I just kinda lost it livestreaming I guess. It'll all work out though
Sorry, I have too much to say! But it is fascinating that the plants' roots released their hold. Simply proteins denatured- or is it also a survival technique- a severe temperature change, so it's time to try to float off to a new home!
True! Maybe there's an episode in this botany!
Hey man, have you ever considered Rumble? It's a lot less restricted over there!
"peaceful easy feeling" my ass.
