I was diagnosis by going through the sleep apnea test and followed with the full day neurological test. I was told that if consistently I am dreaming (REM) with a few moments of lying down is absolutely N. I can also continue dreaming after I am up and walking about, I do also have all the other symptoms to various degrees. Catalepsy but not full dropping to the ground.

To get through my 10th year of teaching I had accommodations of no more than 8 hours, two naps a day if needed and I could take my service dog . Also if I was late because I had just pull over and rest it didn't matter. I was very conscientious so I was never ever more than two minutes late . I did take naps everyday between classes. I took the dog sometimes That gave me a way to get disability . Also my service dog has saved my life for many many many timesparticularly at home. When I have a narcoleptic attack I often stop breathing because of the sleep apnea. Narcolepsy is a neurological disease. It's not a symptom, and there is no clear cause for it. By lumping it in with things like ADHD and Depression, you devalue it by implying that the solution to it is the same as ADHD or depression. An example of a symptom would be "extreme tiredness", or "confusion"; not narcolepsy.
@@spoon4578 Are you the narcolepsy God? Actually all these things are inextricably linked, it all boils down to the brain not forming correctly due to inadequate conditions during pregnancy and early years of life. With the right support, the brain can heal from this, but pharmaceutical drugs will NOT heal the brain.

Narcolepsy is not a symptom. It’s a neurological disease. If anything, symptoms of untreated narcolepsy resemble symptoms of depression and ADHD. Which is why it’s is often misdiagnosed.
By chance, do patients speak of the onset of EDS subsequent to surgery and the use of anesthesia, such as Propofol? (My daytime energy dropped significantly even 1 1/2 years after minor surgery, and daytime sleepiness increased dramatically. Short term memory has also been negatively affected).
Please can someone help me out. I have many symptoms of narcolepsy. I know hallucinations are one of them. so during the day or during the night whenever I feel an overwhelming tiredness right before I fall asleep it feel like something shakes my body awake. Right before I fall asleep. It happens all the time. Sometimes I am so tired that I just ignore it and basically pass out from being so tired. But most of the time it scares me so bad I fight everyday not to fall asleep. Please anyone give me an honest opinion. Is this a symptom of narcolepsy or do I have a poltergeist?
Hey there. The things that you describe seem to be in line with narcolepsy symptomes. I'm no medical professional but I have narcolepsy and I've experience all the same issues that you describe. I would seek care and advice from a medical professional. They will probably then instruct you to have an overnight sleep test done. From there, based on the info and the symptoms, they can make a diagnosis. I wish you the best.
My hallucinations due to Type 1 Narcolepsy are pretty fluid and expected, only once in a while will they spook me. My main issues are sleep attacks, the infamous fatigue, and the overwhelming desire to constantly be in bed and sleep in the hopes of magically somehow waking up with some energy, which ends up never happening. If you haven't gotten a PSG, MSLT, and MWT done yet, do it. I left it untreated and it eventually caught up. Please consult a doctor though, the overwhelming sleepiness sucks and to have people tell you to your face, "everyone get's tired," hurts. I'm surprised I didn't pass out typing this.
idk how anyone gets a narcolepsy diagnosis because doctors refuse to test for it and claim its "just fatigue."

If it can damage your hypothalamus, theoretically yes.
for the record my quality of life has improved for the better

Make sure to get an MSLT!
It's Hypnic jerks, usually caused by stimulants. It's harmless.

i don’t care or i don’t mind that the medication is a little pricey you can’t put a price on your health
What medication are you on?
But the long term effects of stimulant use is horrific.
