- Complex's weekly series Don't Believe the Hype takes a look at what's hot and what's just hot air. Sneakers, clothes, tech, food-nothing is safe. With the end of the year approaching, we had to settle the annual debate among hypebeasts that happens this time of year: What was the sneaker of the year?! So many were released, so many were copped, so many to wait in line for, which one was worth it the most? Speedy asks Complex staffers which sneaker from ComplexCon's Sneaker Panel top 3 list really earned the title in 2018. Is it the Cactus Jack Jordan 4, Nike Element React 87, or the Nike Sean Wotherspoon Air Max 1/97?

This show doesn't really need a sponsor because it doesn't require much of a budget. There are no writers or actors or paid guests. It has very basic editing that you can do with any free video editing software. I'm sure they can find an intern to make these videos. Shouldn't take more than an hour or two to edit.

@@jasongorman2992 Are you talking about the zipper? or just that one pair that came with a rip or something in it that somebody posted on twitter? Quality control isn't guaranteed on these shoes. While they aren't mass produced, they're not so limited that they can all be hand checked by a professional. There is always bound to be 1/5000 pairs that are messed up.

1) Sean’s, Probably the most hyped in the bunch for good reason. Friends of mine that don’t even like sneakers have told me they want them. The whole collab that Nike did with creators was refreshing to see.
2) Nike Element Reacts, unique and new design, comfortable, and you can show your sock game off.
3) Cactus 4’s, none of the shoes on the list are bad, I’m just not really a Jordan guy myself (except for 1s and 3s).

The Air Max' were the shoe everyone wanted? I disagree, the resale price point I think helped the Sean Wortherspoon but if the Cactus Jacks were going for the same price I think they would of been the shoe everyone had

Nah, the Sean's were a great hypebeast shoe, but for a shoe overall the reacts are so much better based on comfortableness, shape, looks, and performance, so I don't agree with the decision and I think the reacts are the best of those sneakers. I don't think any of those truly deserve sneaker of the year though
