Comment your hot take below!
Blue bricks are the ONLY colour that taste good.
My hot take is that Lego should make sets more accessible to people with giant Hands like me I find it quite hard to get my hands inside the set to move the minifigure when I am making stop motion
Yes
Edna mode’s head is not as cursed or scary as 2008-2010 chancellor palpatine. He still gives me nightmares
Ninjago is only good before they changed art stile
My hot take is that Lego is way to focused on the collectors anymore and going along with that, ITS WAY TOO DAMN EXPENSIVE
i feel you bro
YES!!! Almost every cool good set now is hundreds of dollars.
Not a hot take. Bro be spitting facts
My hot take is that people need to stop complaining about repetitive build experience of sets; there is no way Lego could fix it, and besides you only have to do it once in your life and then the set is permanently assembled and you never need to do it again. Nothing infuriates me more than seeing people treat something unavoidable like an objective flaw of a set
I can agree with this 😌👍
Maybe they need to stop buying so many legos
This is true
Nah, if something isn't fun it isn't fun. If the process is more important to the person than the end result, your argument fails apart.
@@NB-is6pb I'd like you to suggest one way in which Lego could do anything to fix this. Also just because some people have that mindset doesn't mean everyone does, and if a set makes at least 1 person happy it deserves to exist.
Hot Take: Lego should make more unlicensed sets and more themes of their own.
More knights
I agree. They should really lean into the historical time periods. Aztecs & Mayans, Three Kingdoms, Shogunate Japan (just think of the ‘wood’ working opportunities!), Ancient Mediterranean, and the age of exploration to name a few. I think a tall ship navigating the northwest passage would be cool; or a cargo sledge with polar bear hunting party. Pirates and Knights show that there is lots of potential love for unlicensed historical stuff.
A lot of people think that, so I’m not sure if it’s a hot take.
A

Another take: Modern Lego instructions have too many steps with too few bricks added in each step.
Agreed!
Yeah, although conversely I would say the older sets didn't have enough.
Might be a bit of a cold take, but I think Lego needs to focus less of licensed themes and give us more new and old themes of their own design.
I have a potentially hot take: Creator 3-in-1 sets are the best value for your money. It's literally 3 toys in one box and (usually) the alternate models are pretty good. I have the white rabbit set but right now it's in the cockatiel build sitting on my pc monitor. I just live the variety of sets that come out every year and the options in each set. I have a few of the dragons and cars myself and I love them a lot.
They're also some of the few Lego sets today that actually live up to the premise of the whole system, rebuilding a toy into a different toy. The modern uber expensive replicas of random items in a house are much lamer in comparison, and I genuinely wonder why anyone would prefer them over say, a model kit, which would both be cheaper and more fun, as you get to paint the model after you build it, giving it your own touch, unlike Lego sets, which are actually somehow a very dystopian concept of everyone building an exact same art piece to display, with no original touch or creativity, just plastic fake radios as far as eye can see.
Creator is the most LEGO of all LEGO themes. Everything LEGO is all about at its core, wrapped up in one theme. I actually kinda miss when Creator was the only theme that specifically never included minifigures, because that was like an identity statement to tell you Creator is all about actually building something. Too much of LEGO culture is just people obsessing over minifigures now, which makes Creator sets feel like a refreshing reminder of what LEGO is really for.
I disagree it always makes me want to buy three and go over budget to get all the builds
No, it just steals from original themes. “Oh, you want pirate ships, castle, space and more? Oh ok well put it is one theme where it gets one set per 5 years and there extremely expensive” -modern Lego
It truly isn’t that painful to step on any lego piece, not even spiked, or sharp ones
A
not even the Lego lighter?
Man, it's much more painful it SHOULD be!
That's true. Sure, it's not nice, but they're really not that awful. I wonder what the Lego haters do when they get to a beach that isn't just perfect sand.
It’s not horrible but I would say it’s a little worse than stubbing your toe
9:57 Honestly, i have to agree with jason. I mean, they do hurt, but its like getting a shot. It only hurts for a second, and then the pain is over
I agree
It only hurts when the piece breaks from being stepped on, because now you can't use that piece anymore.
I’ve literally never even felt it. But then again, I stepped on a nail facing straight up one time, and it didn’t go through my foot, so I guess the bottoms of my feet are just made of steel.
I think we can all agree that we want the REAL backgrounded box arts again.
Agreed. Solid black background was fun for a while but it’s pretty stale now and lacks excitement.
@@ChrisTwoFourbut isn’t the solid black only for the adult focused sets in order to indicate them?
@vast9467, you're right. It helps indicate the 18+ range. However, I bought the creator expert mustang and it was just more exciting to see it with box art then the box of the icons Porsche. A minor issue I know, but enjoyment of lego starts from the time I see it in the store and have to save up for it😁 still fair point you made
A cold take
Hot Take: Voldemort being the only LEGO minifig to have a nose, despite famously NOT having one is the most cursed design idea LEGO has ever come up with.
U FORGOT SQUIDWARD
gollum had a nose print too
The cowboy outlaw had a nose
What about Pinocchio?
That's neither true nor a hot take
I think the reason the City theme is struggling is because it's too vehicle-focused. If we got more sets like, say 60380 Downtown, it might be doing better.
Also, I agree with the last take wholeheartedly. I really wanted that Medieval Blacksmith set that came out in 2021, but it's already been retired. It's not fair.
Also the characters, I doubt kids want named minifigs for Lego City. i remember as a kid playing with the cops and crooks, they all looked the same and I would swap faces and bodies to create my own stories…
@@Comuzzy Yeah, a lot of the fun of LEGO sets is coming up with your own characters.
9:03 - Hey thats me! Lol

@@ShinyShinyIsAlwaysBeingSerious I'm saying 5 year old because those kids eat that now unless you are an adult then act like one
Hot Take: Taking apart Sets with a Brick Seperator is unbelievably satisfying.
Wait until you try the MEGABlocks separator
Lego needs to stop making so many huge expensive sets, there should only be a few a year, or one a theme
There should be more cheaper affordable sets
I agree with GWP problem and retiring sets too quickly
My hot take is lego should lower prices
Not very hot, though; I think everyone thinks that! Lego has gone crazy with pricing.
Always wait for a sale. ✌️
Agreed.
Completely glacial take
Hot Take: Lego Store is one of the worst places to buy Lego. I can with almost 100% certainty buy every set with a 30-50% discount.
my hot take is that the lego molded dinosaurs are actually good, they allow for lego to actually focus on the brick built parts, instead of having to make a weird not-quite-right looking lego dino and a lazy looking lego car
besides, molded parts on lego dinosaurs have been a thing since the beginning of lego dinosaurs, the first lego dinosaur line, "dinosaur" used primarily unique molded sets, and they have always looked off, so you can't say "lego therizinosaurus bad" and also praise the lego dimetrodon, which looks nothing like a dimetrodon whatsoever
also maybe not as much of a hot take, but when are we getting a new lego dinosaur theme like a lego caveman theme or lego walking with line?
(also yet another time wondering where proper lego portal sets are)
Hot take, Lego friends is one of the most detailed and underrated themes
My hot take is that Lego bags shouldn’t have become what they are today. A
4000 piece Lego set in 2016 had like 5-7 bag numbers, but modern ones have over 30. There would be no need for Lego to make eco friendly bags if they just filled up the bags like they used to and also made less like you used to.
Better yet, use eco-friendly bags AND fill them up properly.
Or better yet, don't use bags at all. Have people dig through everything for what they need.
@@VestedUTuber the paper bags are way worse. I don’t think a little plastic bag is going to change much when the whole toy literally is made out of plastic
@@Comuzzy
Except you're not immediately disposing of LEGO elements like you are with the bags. The bags are single-use.
7:09
I think we may have slightly offended him...
9:58 Jason Is Right, Stepping on Lego barely feels like anything
your too powerful to be left alive.
Hot take:
Chima and Nexo knights way cooler than Lego Star Wars
Bro tbh nexo nights was soo epic
@@mayonnaise42069 i want it back so much 😭
Nexo Knights was great
@@QalOrt it really was!
Chima is on the same level but Nexo knights might be the best lego series ever besides Ninjago.
Recently I built a lot of older sets and then came back to a newer set and found myself forgetting the box in the corner with the step pieces existed.
I hate dusting legos. I’ll just disassemble and rebuild the whole thing, wiping anything that needs it along the way rather than dust it still assembled.
I use a variety of make up brushes, different sizes for different details.
It takes time but can be fun.
My hot take comes via Duckbricks’ tour of a LEGO workshop and discovering firstly LEGO have a humungous stash of long retired super rare elements. But more distressing they keep a humungous stash of current parts in unreleased colours - from mixel joints in every colour imaginable to the larger plates and bricks in trans colours. That’s cheating, LEGO!
My hot take: Lego should make more Simpson sets and or with collab with futurama
Hot Take: the more fans complain about nitpicky things, the less LEGO should make sets for that line every year
Hot take: Lego should focus more on the CITY theme and less on or get rid of licensed themes. Lego CITY sets nowadays are super underwhelming and there aren't many options to choose front. Lego is even considering monster truck sets as Lego CITY, like what?
I forgot about galidor
Hot take: Lego Speed Champions set designers need to be in charge of building Star Wars sets. Speed Champions cars have such amazing builds, and Star Wars could benefit from that.
Not sure how hot this take is but LEGO need to slow down on releasing so many new pieces. So many new pieces can be made with existing bricks and don't provide and extra stability. Would also reduce people complaining about low piece counts are!
Any piece that can be built from other pieces, I call that a “cheat piece”. I just today built a classic boat dock piece 2617 out of smaller grey bricks and tiles.
I like Lego mixels and wish they would bring it back
Hot take: Lego should make more ideas sets that come through
molten hot take: lego needs to re-release retired lego sets, they dont even have to update them but if they re-released one or 2 sets a year it would fix the rampant resell market, and i can get a decent clone wars set for under 300 dollars :/
Okay I have 2 hot takes:
1: Lego lines and sets PEAKED before 2018, I’m not saying 2018 was a bad year for Lego, we got a few good sets, I’m saying it was the last year of good sets, also before then we had some incredible lines, like Bionicle, Power Miners, or Ultra Agents, I’d rather have a bunch of pretty good sets release then one super good set every once in a while, I guess to add on is that the older lines were so cool and creative, I miss that
Take 2: This isn’t necessarily about Lego itself, but the community of Lego Star Wars. I hate when people (mostly Lego UA-camrs) complain about literally every single set Lego releases, they just always find something to complain about, weather is figures, a particular set design, price, or anything else, I have never seen a Lego Star Wars UA-camr give a genuinely good review on a set, don’t even get me started on them with figures, they just love to critique them the most, every single detail, a recent example of this is the Courescant Guard Republic Gunship, the prints are decent in my opinion but they just hate everything about the figures it seems, or the fact of rare figures being more available to the public, they would rather have a really good figure locked behind a pay wall so they can still criticize it, instead of having it more available for everyone to enjoy
Hot take: a parts pack filled with new recolors would've been a better way to send Bionicle off than Stars ever was
My hot take is that Lego speed champions is one of the best themes for what you pay for. Although they’re starting to get pricy they’re so worth it. An 8 stud wide car with a figure is so worth it for the prices
Hot take, my favorite themes are more recent, I have a lot of Architecture and Botanical.
The idea sets are amazing I would love to add the Titanic set but ya know it’s VERY EXPENSIVE.
Both add so much color and an interesting visual to a room.
I have the skylines, multiple flower sets, Bonsai Tree, and my current crown jewel the Himeji Castle.
IDK if it's a hot take, but in my experience the worst piece to step on by far is an upside-down CCBS armor piece. That's the only time I've ever had a Lego piece draw blood
There need to be more historical sets like knights , vikings , gladiators
Rock Raiders FTW!
the Quatro line should get more specific grab-bags, like a mountain grab-bag or farm grab-bag
Hot take: lego should remaster more sets. Not only 1980s-1999. But also the early 2000s.
Well they have Vikings had a remake, Tahu did too the Stealth hunter is also getting a stealth remake. We get regular support for them in cmfs just as well as anything from the 80s.
Lol I build all my LEGO sets without instructions 😂
My hot take is that LEGO should make Technic pins available in all colors instead of color locking them, at least for the TFOL/AFOL sets!
GWD _does_ suck. I bought the D&D set within hours of launch, while the mimic dice box was still being actively advertised, and still didn't get one because they ran out.
Here’s my hot take: LEGO doesn’t have *A* golden age, cuz they’ve been throwing out bangers for decades!
It's true: stepping on LEGO actually feels nice. Just like walking barefoot on gravel. Those 2x2 tiles with technic pins are some of the nicest feeling ones.
can you do a video on LEGO stopmotion youtubers? and techniques?
Hello there! I second that!
@@BrickStopmotions hello!
2:46 ah yes my favriote series. the "Orient Express"
Johnny Lightning is my favorite LEGO character too.
When Space added yellow minifigs, THIS was the truly golden age of LEGO. Not the minifig itself, just that era.. but yeah, the hype when a YELLOW (and blue) minifig was added was earth-shattering!
FABULAND was equally as monumental.
My favourites are Legoland Town and Model Team, with growing up in that era of Lego.
I almost never use the blue boxes either. Once I’m finished with a bag, I will look over the “extra” pieces, and if I have a double or one or if one of them seems too big to be a leftover then I’ll go back through the instructions and look at the blue boxes then to see where I lost the game of “spot the difference.”
11:05 I also do that. I rarely look at the little square which leads to sometimes making mistakes. But nowadays it us pretty easy to do it.
Elves retired too soon and I want my girl Naida back :(
Stepping on legos doesn't hurt enough
i have only a below 0 take.
Hero Factory should have its parts renewed so people can make MOCs with them rather than spending admittingly far too much on the 3rd market for pieces that were only available in years people didnt have an interest in until recently.
genuinely just want hero factory pieces to be back in stock lmao.
Hell was specifically created for those who hate minifigures.
I feel like Time Cruisers theme is now the Dreamz theme.
hot take: Lego should re-release Bionicle gen 1. no changes to the sets beyond using newer versions of some of the pieces. Make movies for each arc, accounting for retcons.
I don't think it would be a good idea. Bionicle G1 was always lacking in articulation and often had generic and repetitive builds. The main characters were McDonald's toys and gear functions loose. Lots of the retcons explained away the mystery the most core part of early bionicle and what people in.
5:37 that would be the Caribbean Clipper!! It did not come out in the 90's, it came out in 1989 as part of the first wave of Lego Pirates. That hull piece did not come with it, it's bow section piece was one color. And at age 46 I still have this set from when I was 13. and it is 100% complete. as are all of my First wave of Lego Pirates sets.
And those pirate ships sure like to collect dust, don’t they? They’re shaped like a bowl, everything gets down in there…
ALL FOOLS!!!! It’s the radioactive coloured ones that taste the best. Oh and one more thing CONSTRICTAI ARE THE BEST SERPENTINE
Nah the fangpire is the best tribe
4:06 I agree with Ayden, tho it may be nostalgia kicking in.
1. 80s-90s
2. now
3. else
The 1990s pirates theme is one of the greatest Lego themes of all time
I had a Galidor set, and they were somewhat compatible with my Bionicals.
Not a hot take but... Lego Space should be its own seperate theme again. Not bound to Lego City and Lego Star Wars. I miss Ice Planet, Space Police and Blacktron.
I remember my mom asking me if I've ever heard of a Lego set called Galidor. I replied, "Yeah, it's crap."
I lowkey want lego space police to come back the minifigures were so creative and the sets itself were designed well and very much detailed
Yesssss Space Police 4: Space Precinct 🤩
hot take: most clone brands are just as good as lego and just as fun to build
I think this is a hot take: to take apart lego sets by reading the instructions backwards so that I can separate the pieces into their bags and rebuild it in peace
Hot take: Its okay to buy 3rd part kits as long as the kit isnt in active production. Lego can reprint old kits if they REALLY wanted to but dont because of production capacity.
This means that if you want a discontinued kit, you're paying a scalper 2X or greater the retail price. Aftermarket, aka "bootleg" kits really only hurt the greedy scalpers.
Discovered you today and watched a few of your video, they brough back nice memories, but i disagrees with jack stone being bad, guess i have a hot take.
Jack stone series was really interesting and good.
My first lego was the 4668 crane truck, which i was so proud of because i made it 100% without the manual as a kid.
My dad bough the Jack stone VHS video i had played so much time.
This VHS was one of the first historical 3D movies at Lego attempt and was really nice for that time.
Hot take: lego only hurts to step on if its an accident also blue bricks do taste better than red bricks red bricks just taste like micro plastics
I really enjoyed the Jack Stone theme back in the days.
Honestly me too
Although I do not think Galidor should be revisited. The figures were very high quality and way better than they are given credit for. People always show the wonky crappy burger toys. But the real figures were brilliant! Lots of proper action figure manufacturers can learn a thing or two from Lego on how to make high quality figures.
Hot take lego should bring back older ips like adventurers, rock raiders, and alpha team.
Hot take: It is hard to find a set with a lot of classic bricks in these days and not pay for it a great amount of money.
Have you ever looked into Lego classics and pick a brick might be interesting
@@n_ex13 Lego Classic is the best in these days, but try to compare the amount of these pieces to the older boxes of bricks from like 2006. And yes, Pick a Brick exists, but only on lego website, so there's no way to pick it up personally. As a child, I got 2 boxes of basic pieces, each one was about 1000 pieces, that's impossible to buy now.
I have the torso and head of the black figure from the McDonald's galidor set line, found it in a bag of random pieces i got at the goodwill
That one guy who said the Sonic sets are the best is very respectable lol. As a massive LEGO Sonic fan and officially ChaoLug member I can agree that LEGO Sonic is one of the best 😂
10:34 President Business, is that you?
My hot take:
Short Version: Lego needs to stop making new shows and start making new themes
Long Version: Every new lego original theme since Chima has tried to emulate the success of Ninjago. It seems like every single Lego theme has to have a show to explain why every set is the way it is. But now, those shows aren’t even of broadcast TV, so they aren’t giving NEW exposure, the shows are only being seen by the people who decide to seek them out. I think if Lego released a new theme, and used only tradicional advertising, the money saved from not producing an accompanying series could actually make the line more profitable in the long run. Maybe if a line proves successful, then they can start a show to give it more exposure.
Looking at it
You do have a point but well the reason why they make shows has changed for one you can't really gain anymore exposure through ads than they already have.
Secondly Lego is just much much bigger than in the two thousands, a success than would be a failure or at best average now. The cost of a show cuts much less into the profits of any given theme.
Thirdly it serves not to make people aware but to attach fans to it. Create loyalty to the theme
@@n_ex13 Firstly, I agree, Lego probably can’t get any new exposure from ads at this point is its life. Where I live at least, you’d have to live under a rock to not know what Lego is. I mean, no other toy gets whole isles to itself as consistently as Lego does. That being said, the goal of advertising isn’t always new exposure, it’s often exposure of things like new products (say perhaps, a new Lego theme) or literally just a reminder that the product exists. You know what Coke is, but they hope that by showing you an ad for it, you’ll want to buy a coke.
I agree that the space has definitely changed. That’s why they keep working with the Ninjago model, because it brought them success. That being said, risks often are what lead to the biggest successes. Bioncle was something completely different from anything Lego had done before when it came out. It wound up being one of the things that saved Lego from collapsing back then. Did that sprit of risk have its flaws? Yes! Stuff like Znap and Glalidor came out about the same time. But that was when Lego was at its lowest, and they tried anything, everything, to save themselves. Now, they’re bigger than ever, and they take less risks than ever when they can afford the most hits.
Finally, yeah, tv shows ARE great for creating loyalty to a theme. I agree with that statement entirely. I just personally wish Lego would make smaller, more disposable, themes that you don’t need to convince people to come back and buy again year in and year out, although that is 100% personal preference on my part.
You made me realize that my hot take is this: Time Cruisers is one of the best and THE most underrated theme ever.
My hot take is that Ninjago needs to take a few steps back and use some time and assets to work on other original lego themes, its been going on for a long time and seems kinda repetitive to me, even know i love the new wave
1. Galidor is only bad if you didn’t play Galidor Quest
2. Lego City would be much better if they could connect with the modulars or in a similar way without customization. (Also needs less cops)
3. Lego Friends has some cool looking sets but they should just use regular minifigs - it’s a big reason I don’t buy any of the sets.
Agreed about the figs! And Lego City could do delivery vehicles, moving vans, and I’d like to see Post Office or News Studio.
Agreed
800 iq Lego sets: Amy’s animal rescue has a part where if you drop a piece down a certain area you can get it back by it going through a ramp instead of it getting stuck
I want a second series of space minifigs with more remakes from classic themes like the aliens with the crazy helmets and insectoids
my weird hot take is that city has always been over hyped. Creators always make videos like "hey check out my $10,000 lego city!" But to me at least, the sets always seem too similar and just completely forgettable.
Space Police and Power Miners are themes I wish I collected
Lego city in the past few years has improvedz especially this year, and especially summer sets
11:01 I grew up doing that not because I had to it’s just how I did it unless there were a lot of pieces added
Lego Ninjago and it's popularity killed Lego's ability to create unique new themes.
I have never agreed more with something that I whole-heartedly hate.
What about Dreamzzz?
But they keep making new themes, and they do alright but cant survive for very long, Bionicle didnt prevent Ninjago, Ninjago didnt prevent Monkie Kid, they are just rare examples of extremely successful lines
I hate that you are right
@@joeunknown7601 only right if you don't look at legos history
12:35 did you know that the lego 3in1 Dino has been on shelfs for a really long time
It came out in 2017!
I totally agree with hot take about building by finding the difference I do it always this way because first finding all pieces was always a kind of unnecessary step for me :)
I liked more Throwbots and Roboriders than Bionicle back then, but now I want one Mata-Nui (the small version) because of the movie.
Lego Concorde is simply THE BEST SET.
6:05 I agree with Stephen
Also, you have to have bought the DnD set on release day to get the GWP mimic. It's annoying.
My hot take is building Lego animals, creatures and monsters. They’re a little fragile and easy to fall apart so I do actually prefer the big molds for creatures as they’re not gonna fall apart and such. I also just hate making multiple legs and wings. That repetition drives me nuts. I love vehicles and buildings
I've been enjoying the Lego speed champions line so much. (Also thanks for getting me back into Legos.
They should make a medieval theme with cool factions etc. Like with the medieval lego ideas sets
11:26 I have that set! It is hard to put together. 😅 And that Edna Mode _is_ creepy! 😬
