    Absolutely great teaching...not only do you have a unique style you are a unique and brilliant teacher. Your work definitely has YOUR SIGNATURE.. my only complaint or should I say problem is that most of your videos are in another language. Soooooo I feel cheated. But what's soooooo funny is that I watch them anyway to see the priceless images that you produce. I've watched your videos over and over again...Thx so much for not being selfish and arrogant but your passion and humbleness can be seen in your presentation along with the images you produce. Blessings to you and your staff

    Veeeeery good Ilko! I've been hooked from begin to end, happy to agree with you on almost all the points. I've actually use the Tamron SP 90mm f/2.8 Di Macro VC USD for portraits, just because of budget (absolutely amateur work) but I'm really happy with it :)BR.

    Thanks for the video!!! Very helpful pointers, especially the last two about being positive and our photos being our reflection.
    I like shooting with a 100mm f2 macro. It doesn't have quite the compression and bokeh of a 135mm but it's still quite good, and it lets me take some close-up shots focusing on details of the subject.

    Hello Ilko,
    Once again you have produced a wonderful video, thank you. It is funny how you appear to break the rules and yet produce beautiful pictures. I have read many times that a 35mm is the widest lens that you can use for an individual portrait and yet you use a 24mm! I have a 24mm and I will be trying this as soon as possible.

    Another great video, Ilko! Thanks! Браво, Илко! Уча се от теб, взел съм си същият 60х60 грид софт бокс, сега търся и 135мм ф2 на по додбра цена. Имам и 85мм - страхотни снимки, но тя е с ръчен фокус и реже страшно пърформанса ти времево. А това може да бъде фатално, знаеш. Не е сериозно, да губиш време с това.Така че ще взимам 135мм. Мен това, лично, което ме интересува - как, къде и доколко обработваш снимките си. Можеш да направиш видео и за това. Lightroom, Photoshop, как и доколко ползваш ретуша. Благодаря!

    • @ilkoallexandroff
      @ilkoallexandroff  7 років тому

      Thanks! Радвам се да го чуя! 135мм е пушка, аз обаче този есен реших да наблегна и на ощ един обектив, и взех 200/2.8 да видим! Да, и аз не съм много фен на ръчния, излишна енергия си е :) въпреки че миналия месец тествах едни обективи на една нова доста обещаваща китайска фирма, имах 85/1.2 и 135/1.4 интересно че се фокусираше доста лесно!
      За обработване мисля да пусна видео малко по нататък, но честно казано аз съм много бърз, за окол 10 секунди свършвам, гледам да свърша каквото кога докато снимам😉

    • @SkyNEDD
      @SkyNEDD 7 років тому +1

      Ilko Allexandroff Супер! Ще чакаме отзиви и видеа с новия 200мм 2.8 - да видим какво боке има. Прайм ленса винаги има различно боке от зуума - просто оптиката е различна! Аз имам 70-200мм, много е добър, но бокето не е най-най, знаеш.., ок супер! Сполай ти за инфото и все така напред!

    • @ilkoallexandroff
      @ilkoallexandroff  7 років тому +1

      If it is very bright outside, I might use ND filter, check out the STC filter company, they are doing really great filters! It is a Taiwan company!

    Thanks for sharing Ilko. I love your work and you have definitely built recognizable style.
    I'm shooting Nikon D750 + 85 @1.8 & Sigma 35@1.4 ART + Nikon SB-700 with Godox TTL radio sync. I also got the Rogue light modifiers (haven't used them much yet)
    I'm still learning to use the flash properly.
    One of the issues I'm having is losing focus on the eyes when shooting wide open (due to very shallow depth of field) - how do you tackle that?

    • @ilkoallexandroff
      @ilkoallexandroff  7 років тому +1

      Hey, thanks a lot! Really happy to hear that! Hmm, do you reframe when you focus with wide open aperture, it might be a reason for losing focus!

    • @vladohome

    Hi Ilko Allexandroff, thanks for your tips about taking portrait photography. I have a question about white balance section. What's the different if i set as Auto in white balance and taking raw file, and with changing my white balance to color temp and raw file?

    • @ilkoallexandroff
      @ilkoallexandroff  7 років тому +1

      Thanks a lot! Yeah, of course you can adjust it later in raw processing, but I just prefer to get my results as much as I can on location, so I don't have to do it later, and if I am having consistant light on the setup, I do not need to let my camera change the settings when it is in auto! Cheers!

    • @ilkoallexandroff

      Yeah, vending machines here are really killer lights! But I was explaining about lighting with vending machines on a seminar in Europe, and everyone was not believening me, then I found out why, vending machines there were so dark :)
      To be honest I prefer the Ring, because of the shape, but it decrease the light by around 4 stops, since the Dish only by 2 stops! I have made a comparison video, I will upload it soon!
      And thanks for commenting!

    I have a question, sorry if this has already been asked, but what about the outfits and clothes your model wears? Do you leave it up to them? or do you suggest what kind of clothing you think will look good?
    Thank you.

      Probably yeah, but just the 2.8 is 2 stops darker, and probably you will not get that blurred background!

    wow great tips. Im a amateur who is now learning to shoot portraits. Im using manual lens which is Helios 55mm F2 lens, and CCTV lens which is Fujian 35mm F1.7 combined with a 2nd hand Sony A7s. Hope i can get a lens with AF in the future if budgets overflow my wallet. heheh. Thanks for the TIPS. Very useful. More power and tips. Thank you. my flicker www.flickr.com/photos/masteroverdrive/
