✨Welcome to the first (of hopefully a few!) of our QuiltCon 2024 videos! ✨We did our best to includedthe names of the quilters and their social media links, but if we missed yours, let me know and I'll add it to the description! Also, please accept my apologies for name mispronunciations and especially to "Nightlife" maker Laurice Earl, for whom I assigned wrong pronouns. I appreciate your kindness regarding these mistakes. ❤And a BIG "THANKS!" to American Patchwork and Quilting (www.allpeoplequilt.com)(IG: @allpeoplequilt) for sponsoring the Super Scrappy Challenge!!❤
Thank you so much for the reading what the maker said for each quilt, no one else I've watched has done that. I ALWAYS read those thoughts by the maker at any quilt show I go to. It will give us insights to what the maker was thinking when the quilt was made.
Thanks so much for sharing the maker's thoughts on these. I won't lie, some of them weren't as visually appealing as others, but when you hear the "why" behind the quilt, it really opens it up and gives you that other perspective. great video!
I feel the same! After reading so many of the artist's statements, I have so much more appreciation for their work--even if it isn't my preferred design style or color palette!
I didn't see one quilt that didn't deserve a ribbon. Including the ribbon quilt 😂 They were all so beautiful. I don't know how the judges could do it. I couldn't. I'm glad you are happy and proud. You definitely should be. ❤
I didn’t immediately click on this because, this is the wrong day!!!! I’m so happy that you were able to enjoy your quilt hanging with the others! You deserve to be proud! You and your husband always do such great videos like this one. No jerky camera moves (thanks Paul!!!!). Your enthusiasm is contagious. XOX
CONGRATULATIONS CATHY! You got me all choked up watching you enjoy seeing your beautiful quilt displayed.❤ I can only imagine the emotions you were feeling! Thanks for taking us with you to QuiltCon 2024. Maybe someday I can join you there...Paul's video helped us enjoy the show and captured the details on the amazing quilts 🙂
Oh Cathy, just seeing you there at your quilt made me want to cry. Im sure you were full of all types of emotions. I too am so glad that you entered. It is a once in a lifetime thing. From all of us (your fans) it was wonderful to see you and your quilt. Lots of Love to you ❤❤❤❤
Morning all, thought I’d slept for 72hours. It was so lovely to see your quilt hanging proudly. It looked amazing. Congratulations to you and all the participants
Cathy I was there on Thursday but did not see you and Paul. I was very disappointed but I did see.your beautiful quilt up close and I love it even more than before. You are a fantastic quilter with an imagination that is so wonderful. When I read than only 470 quilts of over 2300 were accepted I thought what an honor to even be selected. It is AWESOME. You are winner in every way. I love you and your channel and can't wait to see.what you bring to us in the future.
Paul, your photography is amazing. I have watched several QuiltCon videos and often get frustrated that they don’t show close up shots of the quilts so I can see the stitches. Your thumbnails attracted me to the channel and Cathy’s wonderful personality caused me to subscribe and jump on every video. Love what you two are doing.
Hi Cathy...this was my first experience with you and your channel. You are wonderful at describing what you see and reading the artist statements for the quilts. I have gone on to watch all of your videos and have subscribed to follow you. I wish you had given us more closeups of YOUR quilt. It looked beautiful but I don't feel we got the same view of your quilt as we did of others. Congratulations on being in the show!!
Thank you, Carol Ann! Maybe we'll revisit my quilt, but I've had enough of it for a little while! 😘 Thank you so much for watching and commenting and subscribing! I look forward to having you along with me on my quilt and YT journey! ❤️
Artist, not just quilt makers! Cathy the descriptive words you applied to this multi mixture of color and themes made even more of the life of each of these speak to me! Great speaker quilter and artist you are, I could never put a place on all of these they are all coming alive by the makers hands! What an opportunity to behold each of them up close! You are a very special precious individual,Thank You so much for the reading and light you so gracefully brought to us all, GOD BLESS All, lis
I loved your reaction when you saw yourr quilt hanging there and l cried right along with you!!! Everyone with a quilt hanging there is a winner in my book ❤❤ along with all those who love this craft and produce these labours of love in their own sewing spaces !! Enjoy this experience with all your heart and know that you are loved in the UA-cam community.
You have done SUCH a nice job of taking us along with you at QuiltCon. You say no more than needs to be said, and click right along covering a lot of quilts. Thanks!
Knowing how few quilts are chosen for display and competition, Congratulations in getting yours in!! Truly, I appreciate your descriptions and information about the quilts. And no music, so I can actually hear!!!
Congratulations! I am touched by your humbleness and your sensitive reaction to seeing your quilt on display. Surely, this will be one of many highlights in your quilting journey.

I had a rough day, so coming across an unexpected CatBird Quilts video was just what I needed! Love your commentary. Thank you for sharing your QuiltCon observations with us!
This is how I found you! Your Quiltcon video from last year. I thought you were so likable and lovely! I instantly subscribed without a second thought ☺️. I still get excited every time I see you posted a new video. I hope you get more subscribers this year 😉. When you were standing by your quilt you made me cry too 🥹. I’m SO proud of you! Woo hoo! I love the way you are sharing your experience at the show with us in this video. It feels like we were there walking around with you. Your focus on the quilts and the designs is much appreciated. You have the best QuiltCon videos I have seen. Your genuine love for quilting and sharing with others shines through.
❤🎉❤ While traveling to QuiltCon, I told my friends about thecatbirdquilts and how much I looked forward to meeting you and your beautiful quilt. It was a delight to meet you and Paul. Without a doubt, we quilters have a lot to say about our craft, and you do it so well. Thank you for highlighting those other outstanding quilts with "calm" videos. The best part was seeing you with your quilt and feeling the mixed emotions that bond us as artists. Love, Mary W
Wonderful job of capturing the look and feel of QuiltCon 2024. I was thrilled to meet you and Paul at the show. Thank you for the gift. I’ll be thinking of something special to do with my CatBird shirt fabric. You are a delight.
Congratulations on your bravery to enter your lovely quilt! What a lovely quilt. Also thank you, thank you, thank you for the excellent video. So great to really show the quilts there. Thank you to the camerawork it was slow and close up to really see the work. So nice and steady. I can only watch most video for a few minutes at a time due to virago this time I was able to watch to the end. So I now I will watch again
Thank you, Shelley! ❤️ My husband, Paul, (cameraman, editor, captioner, sound engineer..etc.) is the skill behind our videos and the reason we have those close-up shots, slow and steady.
Phoenix 2025? (Kind of like asking if you want more kids while you’re holding a newborn, I realize.) Thank you for the nicest QuiltCon video I’ve seen - close ups on the quilts, reading us the maker’s statements, and pausing enough for us to take it in.❤ So nice.
ABSOLUTELY agree that it’s the pace and allowing us to LOOK at them unlike the quick walk through pans trying to pause the video. SO ENJOY the artist statements being read
Emmely, I saw your quilt on IG in advance of the show and loved it as soon as I saw it! You did beautiful work and I loved the "story" behind your quilt as well!❤️
Your quilt is so lovely. We saw you filming at QuiltCon. Wasn’t it such an amazing experience? So many beautiful quilts. And we met so many wonderful people ❤
Thank you, Paula! ❤️ It WAS amazing but also very overwhelming!! I wish you had come up and spoken to me---I had gifts for people who came to say "hello!" Next time come up to me and say "Hi!"
Loved your tour and adored your experience having a quilt entry there among so many other talented quilters. You’re journey has been amazing and I’m so proud of you and happy for you Cathy. Thank you so much for sharing your experiences and your heart with us. ❤️🥰
I am always AMAZED at what people create. Thank you for sharing it with me and your quilt is stunning and I considar you a winner for being able to hang your quilt there!OX
Thank you for sharing this experience with us. They are all amazing. Yours is so different. What a variety of scrappy quilting! So much creative expression! Congratulations!
Thank you for sharing the show with us. Your quilt was fabulous. Your video skills were great, Paul, i did not feel dizzy, and your closeups were appreciated. Cathy, thank you for reading the cards to us, it made the quilts more meaningful. What fabulous art. This is not so simple as it may appear as an art form. Love to you.
Absolutely LOVE the way you filmed this, holding still! And that you read the entry info to us, it's so hard to see them, even when I watch on TV. I find other channels that just walk around and twirl in circles, SO hard to watch. Thanks Cathy!
Congratulations Cathy on your stunning quilt! You are a winner to us all, merely by the fact that you even chose to put yourself through the process. And to be represented at QuiltCon, is the icing on the cake. Well done! 💖. All of the quilts you have chosen to show us, are providing such inspirations for future projects. The off centre flower burst quilt, has just now made me change my idea on a current project, to off centre mine. Brilliant! Creativity is our happy place. 😊❤
I’m so glad you got some inspiration, Kylie, from some of the amazing quilts in the videos! I know I was blown away by the creativity and skill in all the quilts at QC2024! It was like drinking from the fire hydrant of creativity!!
Wow, what a treat to see fabric celebrated by utilising scaps on such diverse colourways and designs. With such variety of methods for quilting too. Your presented piece certainly didn't look out of place as a quilt of both quality, design and execution. Bravo! Your emotional response was heartwarming. That's because you make quilts for people you love for them to use and put your heart and soul into them. Your presented piece contains not just hard work, thought and toil but a little piece if Cathy too. I so admire you for having a go. Thanks for taking us to Quiltcon 24 xx
I choked up right along with you! What an amazing thing it must have been to see your quilt in the show! Enjoyed your tour of some of the other quilts too. Thank you for sharing.
It’s beautiful, you put your heart and soul into it, thanks for sharing, thanks for your enthusiasm, sharing your skills and your motivational video clips. Much love from Auckland, New Zealand ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you for sharing your experience at quilting con. You are really good at narrating and presenting the quilters’ visions. So glad you had the opportunity to submit a creation and see your vision through to presentation.
Have thoroughly enjoyed watching your quilt con videos - thank you. It is great that you have read out the quilters' statements - I feel I've visited the show with you. It's a proud & emotional time when you stand by your quilt in a large quilt show & lovely you shared it with your viewers. Such a lot of lovely & diverse quilts how do you pick a single winner - they are all winner worthy! Looking forward to seeing your entry for next year!
Thank you, Linda! ❤️ It is such a proud and emotional time! As for picking a winner---I don't know how they do it either! And oh my goodness--not sure I'll be up for a QC2025 entry!😱
Thank you for sharing all these wonderful creations! I think it’s notable that two of you used the work of the abstract expressionists as your inspiration!
So exciting that your quilt is hanging at Quiltcon. You should be so proud. I think just having it entered there and you being able to see it are also considered wins! Congrats.
Thank you for the up close view of your quilt along with the others you included for your video. Each one is so wonderful. Congrats on having your quilt in the exhibit.
Congratulations on displaying your quilt. I admire you for that. All those tiny pieces in all those quilts, well that's overwhelming. Amazing me how people have their vision, and then make those masterpieces. Thanks for sharing
Thank you for the tour of Quilt Con. Not really understanding the elements that the judges were using to come up with their decisions, I am stunned by the amazing results the quilters achieved. I was glad to get another glimpse of your Rothco quilt. I am so proud that you put yourself out there by creating and entering this quilt. I hope you came away buoyed up for more challenges and submissions. Enjoyable video!
Thank you for showing all of these stunning quilts. Your quilt and all the ones you showed here are extraordinary. Gorgeous!! It must be very difficult for the judges to vote on these quilts.
Sooooo lovely Cathy!! Thank you for sharing! 🥰 That must have been so amazing and somewhat surreal seeing your work hanging there….you did such a wonderful job on your quilt!! 👏🏻🫶🏻❤️
Congratulations that you did it. Proud of you. So many beautiful quilts. Meditations (not sure of the quilt name) by the American Jewish women is so moving. Thank you for taking us along.
Your Rothko quilt definitely held its own in good company! I was so glad o see it in person! It had the impact of color blocking that showed up from a distance and then, the closer you got, the more detail you saw. I really loved that! Fabric details and placement and stitching/quilting are like the brush strokes of a great painting -- they reveal the gifts and skills of the maker. The show as a whole was stunning. I was impressed with the variety of quilts. And it was so lovely to meet you and Paul! ❤

Personally, I like your quilt the best! Congratulations on being accepted into the show.
Thank you for showing all the entries. I do like Night Life almost as much as yours.
огромное спасибо за интересную экскурсию!
пожалуйста! Спасибо за просмотр! 😘
Thanks for the Quiltcon tour. These are inspirational works…and TA DAAA! Your quilt is one of them. Congratulations.
Your quilt looks fantastic hanging! And entering& having it be accepted is an absolute win! Congratulations!
Thank you for sharing all these wonderful creations!
I think it’s notable that two of you used the work of the abstract expressionists as your inspiration!
Thank you, Lisa! ❤️ And yes, that IS notable! (abstract expressionists for the win!😘)
It's a beautiful quilt!
So exciting that your quilt is hanging at Quiltcon. You should be so proud. I think just having it entered there and you being able to see it are also considered wins! Congrats.
Thanks for sharing QuiltCon! I liked your format a lot.
Thank you, Kit! ❤️
Thank you for taking us travelling and exploring with you! Congratulations on participation!
Thank you for showing all of these stunning quilts. Your quilt and all the ones you showed here are extraordinary. Gorgeous!! It must be very difficult for the judges to vote on these quilts.
Soo happy for you! Thank you for entering and sharing! I am a huge fan of scrappy quilting. I so appreciate your sharing these with us😊
Sooooo lovely Cathy!! Thank you for sharing! 🥰 That must have been so amazing and somewhat surreal seeing your work hanging there….you did such a wonderful job on your quilt!! 👏🏻🫶🏻❤️
Thank you, Charity! ❤️
So proud of you! Such an accomplishment. ❤
Thank you, Sandy!❤️
Congratulations that you did it. Proud of you. So many beautiful quilts. Meditations (not sure of the quilt name) by the American Jewish women is so moving. Thank you for taking us along.
It’s amazing that you were able to display your quilt!!!
I saw you at the show and recognized you, but I didn’t know you had a quilt in the show. How exciting!
Next time come over and introduce yourself! ❤️
@@TheCatBirdQuilts You were recording, so i just winked and kept moving. 😉 Next time!
