The money grab never ends! As a kid I went crazy buying Classic cards because I didn’t know any better. Great info to get people educated to make good decisions on what they buy
I appreciate it, education is my sole purpose in all I do. 👍🏼
I agree with you 100% that Panini Instant custom cards/sets and Topps NOW custom cards aren’t TRUE rookies. However I do think there is value there. For one they’re limited runs unlike the heavily produced mainstream products that also have dozens of parallels so over time I think there could be some scarcity there. Also they seem to be the only cards that show the players on draft night and holding up their respective jerseys (Draft Night Panini cards) which I think adds a unique element to them.
I have some CJ Storud and Wembenyama Draft Nights, RPS First Look, and Topps NOW from draft night in PSA 10s for these reasons.
20-30 years down the road I think these will be harder to hunt down than the base rookies.
But don’t get me wrong most my of PC is still good ol’ base rookie cards.
Some great insight here John, thanks for sharing and tuning in. 👍🏽
The never-ending battle . Well done, my friend!
Indeed. 😂 thank you brother!
At this point I had to step back and let this game play out all money no real hobbyist in the industry but to each his own I still love my rookie cards.
Good move! Thanks for tuning in.
Nice one Victor. To that last point I fear that the counterfeiting of cards is only in its infancy. As technology advances it will become a serious issue imo. The current safeguards in the hobby are inadequate to combat what's potentially coming.
Well said! Thanks for sharing your thoughts 👍🏼
lol. nice video!!! i hate the money grab!
Same. Thanks James, glad you enjoyed it.
I grew in a toxic environment.I was taught, Red flags are like 6 flags you have to learn ride the wave.
Sorry to hear that Stephen. Love the analogy 👍🏼 thanks for tuning in!
All about the almighty dollar my friend.
Yeah, but many are getting taken advantage of. At the end of the day the ones that truly make money are the card manufacturers and their network of associates that pump chaos. The spell of vanity can only be broken by truth and education, education, education. 👍🏼
@@true_rcs oh I agree with you. Just saying.
Great video. Time to look for some old SI magazines, and get to cutting out the Jordan photos. Don't want to ruin the photo, but still better than ⭐🤷♂
Great idea 🤣 appreciate you tuning in 👍🏼
My biggest fear is over population like Elly de la Cruz has like 5000 psa 10’s.
Yeah, I can understand that. Personally, it doesn't bother me. Ultimately when it comes to long term value its determined by the career of that player. Tom Brady RCs have some high counts too but his cards are pricey and in demand despite pop reports. 👍🏼
@@true_rcs pop report 100% plays a factor. Brady is already in a limited amount of sets, and the amount of PSA 10 RCs he has is minimal. Here are the PSA 10 pop counts for these particular year 2000 sets: Bowman - 467, Bowman Chrome - 1164, Crown Royale, Fleer - 127, Fleer Mystique - 30, Fleer Metal - 190, Pacific - 209, Aurora - 421, SP Authentic - 97, Contenders - 13. Less than 2000 altogether for the GOAT.
@@kylepeak3174 some would say these numbers are high. Focus on pop reports and money has gotten out of hand. Collecting seems like a dying concept. Thanks for pulling the numbers👍🏼
Topps chrome and Topps chrome update I’m definitely looking forward to for some true rookie cards of interest thanks for your informative videos
WooHoo! Get ready Alan coming soon
The custom card makers should not use RC shields or other images /schemes that Topps/panini uses
Exactly! 💯🎯👍🏼
Great points as always Victor! I’m still hoping to meet you at some point 😂. Hope all is well!
Doing good, thanks for tuning in. I'll be at The National if you're going. 👍🏽
In regards to the idea about the Rated Rookie Premiere being an ancillary set, I dont believe thats entirely correct in the current market because of the tug of war between Fanatics/Panini. For example Stroud's only licensed autos were Rated Rookie Premieres for a couple hundred bucks he then went on to be a Fanatics Athlete, it really depends on the top picks not signing with Fanatics predraft like Stroud did. We saw that with MHJ Jr but he didnt sign with the NFLPA too. Alot of these young men coming into the league are seeing money or deals outside of Fanatics and want a good deal.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and tuning in 👍🏼
I agree the Tiger Woods is not a rookie, but PSA grades magazine cut outs..If you look up sold listings for the 1984 All Star Game Program a Don Mattingly/George Bell sold recently for around $400..So it can be done.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts Gary.
@@true_rcslol..not my thoughts..PSA's😉
great video and great spanish =)
Thank you! 😃 I mean gracias 🤣👍🏼
Anyone old enough to remember the Eric Lindros sets?
I remember those I just don't collect much hockey 😅
Topps Now and putting the "RC" on them is silly. Something like "Elly De La Cruz Hits Game Winning HR" shouldn't be viewed as a RC but some people do.
Very upsetting what they did with Elly. Especially when he played most of his rookie season.
All the people selling Caitlin Clark in Iowa uniform, calling that her rookie card. People need to know the standards. And eBay should be held to account.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts Mike! Well said.
👍👍👍
👍🏽👊🏽
you would have to grade the magazine as a whole an then... it will still have to depend on the end buyer knwing that page with tiger at 14 is in there somewhere??? lmaooooooooooooo wtf omg i can see them even trying to list the page number in the god dam title... lol adolecent tiger pictured at age 14 on page 29 lolllllll what a fucking sham! best outcome is a tiger fan willing to pay anything to be able to flip to that page. which isn't a lot of money.
🤣👍🏼 Thanks for tuning in
Good video, although I think you lost some more credibility on your foreign rookie card argument. Sports cards are an international hobby these days and to say it’s okay if we export our rookie cards to other countries, but we don’t want or recognize your rookie cards….sounds incredulous. Foreign cards scare collectors because they often don’t take time to understand them so it’s easier to ignore them. A huge population of Europe collects their sports cards via collectible card games….Match Attax, Cricket Attax, Turbo Attax….so the Wemby card is a natural card to get produced and collected in Europe. Again, it’s a bridge we’ve crossed before so I get that you understand both sides of the argument.
Thanks for sharing your opinion Sumo. You may be misinterpreting what I'm saying. I am indeed recognizing foreign rookie cards but I'm just making lines of distinction for the sake of clarity. Let's call them what they are French Rookie no different than Shohei Japanese Rookie. The foreign market is ambiguous to the North American market. It is difficult to comprehend, distinguish or classify. They are awesome but when it comes to a true rookie card designation it is my opinion that it is erroneous to mix it all in the same pot. North American rookie cards is in shambles by itself let along adding multiple markets.
Theres a difference between the match attax and the French card, he's played in the French team for years and it's not in his spurs uniform or licensed. In many of the match attax/Adrenalyn cases the cards are licensed.
@@dezze0n thanks for the correction. I see what you mean. However, it some what proves my point. Majority of us know absolutely nothing about this market. I’ve had people on my channel speaking on Chinesse and North Korean card markets and they have difficulty explaining their markets as well. Many like China just embrace the North American card market. Would love to learn more, is there hobby publications in France?
Great video. I am with you, but I think we are the minority .
Guidelines have been forsaken for almost two decades, it will take time to turn this ship around. My mission is to be consistent on education. I know that I am going against the grain, a fish upstream per se but this is fuel to my fire. If folks take the time to just listen they will soon realize that what I'm teaching is logical and beneficial for the hobby. Appreciate you bro.
