I've always preferred lighter, more flexible shoes. I love the Micro G Torch, and only kinda like the Nike Hyperaggeessor. I think it's the overall feel and it has less weight on my foot during drills. May very well be a mindset though with speed and jumping
thanks for choosing my topic Nightwing! Very thorough and thought out. The heel-to-toe transition really makes a difference if a shoe feels clunky and slow. I'm glad you went over that.
Been diggin these subject specific performance reviews nightwing. Don't get me wrong, your shoe reviews are boss but a change up is refreshing. And it's good to see someone talking about these issues and subjects and not just a plain shoe reviewer. Keep it up man !!!
I understand what you mean but it still depends on the construction of the shoe. The KD3 are a light weight shoe - to an extent - and they play clunky. The adidas models do a great job with designing the midsole for easy transition.
placebos can have an effect on your body physically. If you believe it in your mind it can translate in a physical way.
The overall fit will make or break the entire shoes performance in general. What I'm talking about is the weight being a factor when its not, it would be construction... which fit could be a part of I suppose... unless you buy your wrong size.
I never compared anything in the first place. I was showing what construction does for a shoe that can have one feeling as if the shoe is heavy or lighter bc of it. Its not about weight, its about the construction and build.
I agree with 99% of your point.. only thing that I feel should be mentioned is light weight DOES affect performance.. "BUT" you would NEVER notice it.. every 100 grams shaved off the weight of a shoe equals a return of 1% efficiency.. "AGAIN" you would never notice it in a game.. but light weight does have its benefits over time.. Nowadays NBA players average 3.5-4 miles ran a game over the course of a full season and playoffs I can see that 1% every game helping in the long run. Dope Vid Fam
I did, its what it reminds me of. Not that there is such a thing but if there was... the UA Charge would be it.
Yes sir. Trying to be patient for the 20th to come.
Thats been happening w certain adidas shoes as of late. It did it a lot with the Top Ten 2000 for me. You could try replacing it or just glue it down.
At the end of the day, wear what you feel comfortable in. I've been using LeBron's since the LBJ7 to play ball in and I decided to try out the Kobe 7. After a month, I switched to the LeBron C
Yeah, I did a performance review on the XIs already.
Ive only played in the 3, 4 and 5. Out of the three they are the best overall. KD 3s still have awesome traction though.
one of the realest videos i've ever seen on youtube
Glad you like them.
Thanks you helped me decide between Lebron 10's and hyperdunks i am now gonna buy Hyperdunks as my christmas present to my self thanks bro keep up the vids
Yeah im 5'11 and I've been practicing jumping for a couple of months ever since my team got blown out in intramural basket ball 107-15. But surely some sneakers are able to create more of a general area for that high jump sweet spot. I found that between foamposite ones, kobe 6s, 7s, kd 4s,1/2 cents and aj 4s, Kobe 7s and helped me get up more consistently after getting the form down right.
I really admire your ideas on your every video dude! the thoughs on every details were well projected.Did you had philosophy in high school?
totally agree with nightwing, the illusion of shoes making a player run faster is due to what we see in NBA matches, stars run faster mainly because they work hard, and not really because of the shoes
that is attributed to the spikes. on certain track surfaces, the studs will make your fist step faster among other things
You actually touched on some very important points man. I never saw it in that way. Great review!
Awesome video nightwing, will help me help my lil brothers pick out good bball shoes.
thank you for the review you made a while back with the micro g spine bionic i just got them and they feel like the best ball sneaker ive had in a while
i had the same idea just waited for facts to prove it, nice vid man keep strong and keep publishing great and greater videos :))
I think lighter shoes dont make you move that much faster but it just has a really nice feel to it. I can't deny it, when i tried on a pair of crazy lights it just had that nice light feeling to it, it tough to describe.
thanks for the super informative video, @nightwing2303. I was a 90's kid that bought into lightweight = faster. learned a lot from your videos about the construction of shoes and how that impacts performance.
@2Swift4u it is interesting bc like i said, i "felt" faster and more nimble in the HD vs the LeBron but stats dont lie. Construction and build of a shoe are key, mentality is second and everything else is due to hard work. Ive played in light shoes that felt heavy and ive played in heavy shoes that played light.
as long as his reveiws stay very unbiased (like they are now), thats a great idea
appreciate it. I barely graduated high school... never took philosophy lol.
@nightwing2303 this might be a stupid question, but do you still wear the Hyperdunks (2012) in game or casually? just wondering, love your videos and the website, keep it up sir!
thanks for watching.
Yeah I agree with you because I love the heel part of the out soles on Adidas models. They aren't completely flat but have a curve on them and are soft so they take the impact and go straight through transition faster. Past KD's just have this really tough rubber on the out soles but since you have the KD V's how are those?
I'm a point guard that can shoot, handle the ball, and is a good play-maker. Though I'm fast when I see a fast break, Im not very athletic like a Derrick Rose or Westbrook. What shoe do you suggest?
Good vid btw.
Thanks for telling us bout. Products that work n don't work the info is very much appreciated
very interesting video! Although I find it hard to believe that your performance results were the exact same in the Lebrons as in the hyperdunks. I've always felt very heavy-footed in the Lebrons (7 & 8s). The 360 airbag and the stiff construction make it harder to jump imo. I've never been able to touch the rim in my Lebrons but I've been able to touch the rim in my hyperdunks, crazy lights, KD3 etc.
About Jumpsoles, last summer I would walk to the park dribbling w/ my Jumpsoles EVERYDAY. And a common evening training session w/ them. I spent At least three hours a day EVERYDAY for three months. I killed my feet. I can see the shock dr ankle wraps andelastic bands I wore right now. I felt like I broke my foot in half. I own the shoe not the one that straps to your kicks. I can see those bastards right now. I remember my buddy Kellen's gf coming to the park and her asking what the hell are those, I was SUPER dedicated. Personally, I understand no pain no gain but I literally almost broke down. I think strength training, etc is better and safer. I am so serious
I will be going over cushions in a deff topic video.
Sweet Review, This is the reason I choose Lebron's over J's because the Technology that goes into the shoe is way better than what they had +20yrs ago.
great vids man love this series
i can feel the full length lunarlon right now.... kobes have the best non-air max cushioning ever
I say the running faster and higher is more attributed to fit... less movement inside the shoe, better efficiency in transferring power from the legs to the floor imo - less power lost through the transfer
great great vid!!!!! you've just busted a myth on lightweight shoes now please bust another one by making a vid on hi-tops and low tops
@nightwing2303 gonna get crazy lights again after this video been having problems with grip with the 2.5's and lack of durability with the new Lebron soldiers! Thanks great video as always man!
Hey, You can actually grow 2-4 inches in vertical jump within 2 weeks by simply following the appropriate training program & have a good eating plan. My buddy obtained 9 inches in just 12 weeks and now he can 360 dunk with 2 hands.
Crissie Beard Take a look at below site for more info:

What do u do for a living. Just curious lol and love your vids!
your videos are awesome and very helpful. keep it up. do a video for cushioning
It was just an observation. :) digg your videos though, watch it since the air jordan 2009 PR. I have the same curiosity about basketball shoes performes
Great videos bro keep it up !
I want those Adidas. That construction..
Just want to throw my 2 cents on the question.
I bought one and when I first tried it, I felt this weird sensation (don't really know how to explain it but it wasn't bad) so I thought hmm, maybe its doing something. Wore it on multiple games and it didn't do anything for me.
In my opinion, its the psyching up that makes you play better (and practice of course).
Thanks a lot for your help nightwing.
Great review once again! You rock!
Great video. You should do something like high top vs low top
It's simple physics. Carrying around extra weight around the end of your levers is harder. Think track spikes and flats vs training shoes. Now is it worth it for stability trade off? That's a different questions.
Im planning on getting the KD V's sometime soon to see how those perform and i have a pair KD 2's and they have great traction and are fairly responsive, but im getting AJ 11's for christmas, so any thoughts on those performance wise.
YOU SHOULD DO A VIDEO ON TRANSITION HAT THE SECOND THING I LOOK FOR IN A SHOE RIGHT AFTER TRACTION
The Adidas Crazy 8's are a good shoe to play Basketball in.
Aye, I noticed you're also a size 9 and I was wondering if the Adidas Team speeds you have are a large or medium? Thanks!
How do you keep your shoes so clean?! They look brand NEW!!!
Does the carbon fiber or tpu plate help with heel-toe transition therefore makes u feel faster? Think u should mention this:)
Sick jacket. Where did you get it?
hey Nightwing i am looking forward for your AJ XII review... on the weight department because personally i feel playing in AJ XII are like bricks on feet.....
appreciate it!
nice you're the man nightwing!
The "every once in a blue moon" jumps you were referencing, were those dunks?
I wont do a maintenance video but I will do one discussing their performance
Nightwing! Lets get a basketball game going with the big sneaker reviewers on YT.
Nightwing can you do a topic on translucent soles and how to take care of them, i know you have various videos talking about it but jus cram it in one video
Performance wise do you think the KD V's are the best out of all other KD's
Great topic!
Not quite lol. My early vids were full of it.
Its not a light weight shoe, its an average weight shoe. And I was using shoes as examples, had nothing to do with which shoe is light weight or not.
thanks!
Hey Nightwing! Can you try the power balance wristband, and say if it worked?
KD Vs are good like the LeBron Xs. Enough compression to make transition feel good but not like an adidas model.
We will have to agree to disagree then. I wasnt talking pounds though, I was speaking on hoop shoes and those weigh onces. Speaking strictly on hoop shoes here, I have no experience with anything other than hoop kicks so bringing any other type of shoe or sport into the mix is invalid imo.
actually the reebok sublite pro rise are 8.8 ounces making them less than the crazy lights and the lightest shoe to date from what i know. Great video though
Can u take out your favorite favorite kicks of all time and do a vid cause i see some old nike boxes
@ nightwing I'm considering getting the rose 3's or the hyperdunks or the kd 5 but i noticed that the rose 3's had the same cushion rating as the rose 2.5 which i have but it looks like the rose 3's have a lot more foam than the 2.5's? but out of these 3 shoes which one would have more cushion?
Hey, Im a 6 foot 141 pound forward. I can decide wich shoe to get, Im really into the D rose 3.0 at the moment. Im a really fast player, a boss at fastbreaks and i like to jump high and dunk or touch the backboard when i do a layup (Maybe this doesn't matter but anyway) should i get Hyperdunk 2012 or Rose 3.0?
No, he lives in Florida I think. He'd probably kick my ass too, he's an NBA caliber athlete.
I wish, that would be a dream job.
I have those hyper dunks, they are so comfortable and light weight
Most people forget about signature shoes. That they are made for the the athlete. Lebrons is made for Lebron. Wide Feet. KDs is for Kevin Durant. Narrow Feet .
"just as fast....or slow" lol another cool vid man
Smooth jacket. How can I get my hands on one?
thanks
i got a crazy light 2 and after a week i used it i discovered i become fastest in the my team when i got my nike shoes im only the 4th speedest player in my team now im the first the crazy light 2 is for faster but not for a high jump my jumping ability is stay the same only the fast improved . i hope this helped
keep up the good work man but i disagree i trained on track with astro turf trainers that weighed about 12 pounds on a tarmac/clay type surface, and ran 100m in 13.something seconds, consistently i bought some performance studded sprinting shoes that weighed about 6 pounds and got 12 which is egregious stripping a second from my time, so when you talk about the difference between a lebron shoe appr12 and maybe adi zero thats 9.5 you wont be a second faster but itll make a significant difference
hey nightwing2303 the one ur wearing is that the Jordan Varsity Hoodie?
nightwing i play point guard and i was thinking about getting the hyperdunks or the rose 3's which would be a better fit for the position i play?
mine are a large but only bc I cant ever find a medium.
Great video bro
are you goin to be doing your top five of 2012?
Them LeBron 10 are nice I'm thanking about getting some
i'm a guard at 5'7. i play for my high school basketball team but it's not my main sports i only got chosen because i'm very athletic what shoe should i buy to showcase my athleticism
How? We're all from different states.
also keep it coming with the performance topics
If you guys want a good laugh then hit the transcripts button next to the 'add to' just under the view counter... lmao!
