There are dozens of videos on tasks, with jumps and tricks, but this one is a journey!
It's very well put together, yet simple. No questions left, no gaps, no bells, just pure logical options. What a joy (for a very tech experienced guy).
Unquestionable like and subscribe, kudos and thanks!

Danny, thanks so much for taking the time to do this. I have been using Tasks for quite a while but missed the new dependency abilities and the CSS for displaying backlinks as a single character is great.

I've been playing with Obsidian for a few weeks, it has a learning curve, but I believe it is worth it as it will allow me to centralize all my notes, projects, and to-do lists. Danny this video is epic. Now I can get rid of Todoist (which has been plaguing my google calendar with stuff) and be able to run all my to do lists exactly as I want. This whole concept of Obsidian is totally sick. Even adding external .md docs from the outside into the appropriate folders get digested.

Thx Danny. This plugin is insanely powerful. Great timing for me. I was thinking about to giving up on Todoist and going with Tasks plugin.
Tasks plugin Dependency style is weak, do not find functional.
Chain few tasks (with Statuses) can be good. But need visual improvement. May be like recurring tasks. When I finish 1/5 step, that step should be finished and show me next 2/5 step above/below.
Also I had an issue with Autosuggest function because I use Various Complements plugin. Solution: Adding a suppress trigger in Various Complements plugin options for lines that start with checkboxes. (- [ ]*)
Todoist is very clean and smooth. I will try both for a while and decide later.

Task is a very powerful plugin, and you have covered all aspects of it very well.
I have a question. There are times when I want to create a list of checkboxes without them turning into tasks (for example, a shopping list), but when I write "- [ ]", Task automatically converts it into one.
Perhaps you have encountered the same issue and know of a solution.
Thank you very much in advance.

    • @DannyHatcherTech
      @DannyHatcherTech  10 місяців тому +1

If you want a list of checkboxes you need tasks otherwise it is a bullet list.
If you dont want them to appear in a tasks query then use either the global filter or query filters.

great video Danny. I have two things that have been on my mind about this plugin and I'm curious what you think. I am using Metadata Menu plugin for my projects status and priority file classes. So I now have a dropdown from frontmatter for P1 through P4 similar to Todoist but this tasks plugin has way too many priorities and the emojis don't match what I have added to my file class. Do you know if it is possible to set custom priorities? The second thing is that I am curious if using Todoist and this as a task management system make much sense to you? I like the user expereience of using the Todoist App, its quick and easy and I can get the tasks synced to Obsidian BUT I cant do much once I get there like move tasks to kanbans or notes. I can call them with a query but I cant really move the notes around and that is the part I want to solve. Create quick tasks with the Todoist app is really nice but id like to be able to compartmentalise them more in obsidian later on. Your tutorial on the Metadata menu was great btw. Took me so long to wrap my head around that one and your tutorial was the one that helped me understand it.

I love the features of this plugin, but hate the way it looks with all the clutter around the tasks. I mostly use edit mode, and the css doesn't apply there, obviously. Wish I could hide the stuff in a sub list and keep them folded or something like that. Either way, I know I'm missing out on some of the features, but I'll make do without for now

I am trying to integrate this with the TickTick app, replacing the #todo with #ticktick and if I’m lucky my #insertyourlistname will also fall into the right place of the app.
If this works it would be awesome. Then you can spawn Tasks from any file, instead of having only one file in the entire vault for all tasks, which just is not mighty enough imo.

Without reminders on mobile, task management is still pointless in Obsidian...
To be able to trust your task (life) management tool, we need to know that it will remind us of important things we plan on doing. Without it, what's the point?
