Spot on, so glad to hear other people saying it!! I don't think we wanna leave out llamas or camels though, camelids in general are the future of meat farming as far as I'm concerned, if the human race is smart at least!! It's all about the efficiency of their digestion. Camelids are easy on the land, and alpacas I know from experience won't overgraze like sheep or goats, they know how to work the land without destroying it. My mission in life is to increase the popularity of camelid farming here in the US to the fullest extent possible, it really is the only green choice for red meat production. Good thing the meat of the future is so TASTY!!!

I would never eat Alpaca as a food source. Even if I starved. I've always wanted some alpaca to raise for organic fleeces, to sell fleeces and eventually buy more alpaca. I was younger when I was introduced to an Alpaca farm in Ohio, not far from Cleveland. The animals attracted me so much. There are 2 different kind of fleeces to watch for when buying Alpaca. To care for them requires a lot of work but also can be fun. Anyway, I enjoyed seeing Alpaca in videos.

You know what'd be nice? You eat meat and discover it's alpaca afterwards. That's got to sound fun

They must have different Alpacas to me, they need feet trimming and injections every 6 month. They are getting very expensive to have shorn only the hand raised ones tolerate handling. Beyond hand feeding in general most thrash around and hate being touched and treated some less so and are placid but many can be pretty wild, watch them on any vet TV show . They are easy to move at least. Are they really commercially viable any figures. Where is and who is your fibre market specifically? Granny/Hobby farming, something to appeal to the kids.

Pretty sure the genetics aren't Australian seeing as how they are South American but nice way to appropriate an entire species of animal from another culture and continent
