  • It's truth time once again, and things will never be the same. Jon breaks the news of his true parentage to a somewhat skeptical, self-absorbed and narrow-minded Daenerys, who is clearly way more concerned with taking "her" throne than anything else. It's not lookin' good for these lovebirds...

    In Danny’s defense, the Throne has been her reason for being since Khal Drogo died. She has had no other purpose in life. He just shattered her world. Since she’s a Targaryen and expected to marry her brother, the incest part doesn’t bother her. I think it’s going to be moot point about the Throne. I think she’ll discover she’s pregnant. The child will unite North and South. It’s just a feeling I have. I could be horribly wrong but I’m thinking what G RR Martin might do. Great scene to post!

      I think you're definitely onto something with the pregnancy...not sure how everything will play out, but it seems really unlikely that they *wouldn't* go that route. And yes, Dany's ultimate goal/focus has been on taking her throne, a throne she's thought to be rightfully hers for so long she can't really accept any other reality. I didn't expect her to be grossed out or bothered by the incest, but it's a little frustrating to see that her primary reaction to this giant truthbomb is to get snippy and suspicious of Jon's intentions. She's his lover; doesn't she know by now he doesn't give a shit about the throne and has no real burning desire to rule? Chill out, lady! (Dany, not you. You're totally chill. ;-) )

      @@BunyipAttack POV is everything. Jon had been the only person in the North she could count as an ally. She had already been already forced into a defensive stance, but here her back is against the wall since the only thing she could hold over their heads would be slipping through her fingers. It's an emotional response, not a logical one (though people who read between the lines like Varys and Littlefinger would probably think the same, only react differently).

      @@BunyipAttack I also see it this way. Jon's reaction was to not to believe Sam when Sam told him. He also backed away from Sam and said it wasn't true . Jon' s focus was not on the throne and at that particular moment only on Dany but it still took him some time to absorb this info as by his reaction every time he met Dany after that. To expect a person to revise their vision on the spur of the moment is ridiculous in my opinion as this has been Dany's vision with her brother since Season 1 Episode 1. Unless GOT is changing her personality, which I hope that they are not doing, to a mean and vendictive individual I think that in future shows we will see a change of attitude in Dany's thinking when it comes to Jon about the throne. After all in Dany's time in the house of the undying she did not touch the throne but continued on to Drogo and her son and if she is pregnant I believe that she will choose her and Jon's child over the throne. Sorry to be so long winded. I'll finish with I LOVE YOU AND YOUR HUSBAND'S REACTION VIDEOS.

    I really enjoyed the short videos you guy are putting out. They work out great for the schedule I have.

      Hey, thanks for the feedback, Dennis! Glad our current format is working out for you...we've been thinking bite-size scenes from start to finish might be appreciated by people who (like us) don't want to commit to a 20+-minute reaction video.

    If I was the dead commander I'd do wave attacks for 3 days. After that the defenders will be too exhausted to defend themselves.
    Then it's off to see Bran.

      I'm hoping the Night King's knowledge and application of militaristic strategy and tactics isn't nearly as impressive as yours! Yep, I think that would work. But Bran and Theon would probably get suspicious that the Night King has arrived, several days have gone by, and he hasn't bothered seeking him out.

    her parents were siblings and she was promised to her brother, so i dont think the incest part phased her even a little bit

      Agreed. Not to plagiarize myself, but as I said in one of the comments below:

      @@BunyipAttack true, but one can also argue that with her being raised for the throne. she was told basically all her life she had the claim to the throne and has been for many years the ONLY person who rightfully could sit there. it's literally been all she's worked for the past few years. can't blame her for immediately jumping to defend that

      @@quistwing Totally get that...it's almost like she's been brainwashed into thinking that taking the throne is the only right/tolerable reality, that it's not only her birthright (though, actually, Viserion was the one who was raised - after Rhaegar's death - to think he had a right to the throne) but her FATE. Perfectly understandable. My frustration is rooted in her inability or unwillingness to examine her own hypocrisy; how does her obsession with taking the throne fit in with her claim that she's going to "break the wheel"? To me, "breaking the wheel" implies that she'll do away with all the birthright bullshit and establish a kingdom/realm more focused on meritocracy. I just have trouble respecting the way her brain works, I guess.

    • @quistwing
      @quistwing 5 років тому +1

      @@BunyipAttack totally agree on that. when i heard she was breaking the wheel i thought she would go about it like she did in essos; earn their trust. she's acted all entitled about westeros accepting her, as if it wasn't her father who wrecked havoc in westeros all those years ago. strangest of all to me is that she is so confused about the northeners wanting her to earn their trust instead of walsting in like she owns the place, especially since she learned that they have fought for their own independance and want to establish their own kingdom, outside of the "seven kingdoms" mold ruled by royalty in king's landing.
      all of these things just confuse me in general about her, but ig she's taking the "mad king" path at this point, which could explain some of her thoughts.
      (also sorry about my english, it is not my mother tongue)

      @@quistwing Great points. (And I never would have known English wasn't your first language...your writing is clear, your syntax is flawless, and frankly, your grasp of the English language is more advanced than most of the people who have been speaking/writing in English since birth.)
