@@blakelip3 my dream build is to swap a full Subaru 2.5RS awd stock drivetrain into a base model 65 mustang. Strip out all but the driver seat. But add dynamat. And daily it with AWD and 130hp. Confuse everyone. Till im dailying a classic stang in the snow....Then theyll know.....Then theyll know.
I never minded this gen. Always thought it was at least unique and good looking.
That said...this kid deserves a ton of credit for doing this. He'll never see his car anywhere else. I love it.
My uncle used to have one and it was my first experience with a sports car and I always thought the design was super good, I loved it at the time and it still has aged pretty well in my opinion
@@carsin60 The problem is the lack of power, and lack of aftermarket support. The parts individually were not known for reliability either.
@@Vulcanraven27 Yeah, idk about reliability issues (he had it for 7ish years and only one problem included him crashing into something) but I can see how the aftermarket scene just wasn't good for this car considering all the hate it got.

Pete Sorensen I mean.... it’s a fwd economy car with 15-20k in mods that make it waaaaay slower than stock. Don’t get me wrong, I respect the guy and his will do build his car in a way no one has before. But it’s easy to see why someone would dislike the car itself.

@@S3ManOfficial exactly, I don't get how the TT doesn't raise as many eyebrows. Probably cuz the TT is a smaller car at the end of the day, and their histories aren't exactly identical, so they're not really held at the same expectations.
@@eddier1630 TT is all wheel drive Quattro , where as 90 % of the Eclipse's were wrong wheel drive . Looks is the only thing they have in common . Eclipse should have been a proper rear wheel drive sports car , it has the looks but they decided to make it a compromise car instead .

This gen eclipse was my dream car growing up. It’s no longer my dream car, but it holds a special place in my heart. Truly awesome build.
That Eclipse is sick looking! Definitely needs more power but all the fighting he (or whoever) did to make parts fit was well worth it because that has to be the best Eclipse I've ever seen!
I agree I got the 2.4 g's 5 speed and she gets going but I'd rather have the 4g69 twin turbo it would need to be fabricated a little bit that's where this wide body comes into play o I love it nice ride you just gave me some ideas

i loved it since I was a kid. I mightve been tasteless, but there is something there that is attractive and different.
Seeing them irl is pretty neat because it's bigger than it seems online. The wide stance it has is a spectacle to witness for me!

The 4g is actually a car that is severely underestimated. They share a lot of similarities to the 2g looks wise and they are actually incredibly agile. And let me tell you the community is amazing

@@pghmechtech I believe you need to go back to reading 101. I said they had nothing on in common which mattered. I never denoted a lack of similarity in their appearance. Welcome to 15 years ago when those of us who owned gen1 and gen2 made this observation which it was clear that the g3 was closer to the g1 and the g4 was closer to the g2, visually only. Unfortunately the g3 and the g4 suck in every way which made the g1 and g2 great cars. I could go into all of the reason but the fact that I don't need to because you already failed to comprehend my first statement or because reality is reality and the sheer lack of "giving a shit" surrounding the g4 by self evidence of no fucking support does that to even a blind observer already.
No no, please to tell us some more how a non impressive fwd only, 3800 boat was sooo awesome because its v6 made sub 300hp.... something the 4g63t cars did for $100 and a case if beer 25 years prior... better while weight hundreds of pounds less and having interiors which weren't reminiscent of 1982 toys.

@@cz75fanatic i own one, alot of the motar internals are interchangeable and you can swap the heads of the 4g63 to the 4g69, you can do all things you would do to a 2g non turbo including turboing it. its just all custom and expensive as fuck.

I never found this eclipse ugly, it might be a bit of a dud going from the 4g63 to the v6 but this v6 is way better than the 3g's. And it's certainly better looking and an infinitely better car then the 3g and imo better looking than the 1g. (Although that might be a bit more controversial) I never got the hate for this car.
The gate for this and the 3g was because it didn’t come with the awd variant. Still very nice cars imo and very unique looking

Love the videos! Not sure if you’ll see this but I have a 2014 Chevy Caprice PPV. 6.0. Was never released to the public and was built for government use only. That being said you don’t see them privately owned a lot. I’ve since swapped the column shifter to the Chevy SS center floor mounted shifter with SS center console. I also was able to enable sport shift as you would with the SS using HP tuners. Full BMR rear suspension And subframe braces. TSW staggered wheels. Rotafab intake, Solo rear axle back. Definitely not complete and is always an on going project but is completely different from when I got it just a year ago. Located in Northern VA if u would be interested.

I love his build. He's easily got one of the most insane/dedicated 4G's in our community. I'm glad to see people noticing this car finally- as much as RWD/AWD fanboys love to shit on it, 263 horses in a 3.8l V6 for less than $4k can shut them up on a highway pull, especially if you strip all the extra heavy shit out of it (stock subwoofer, spare tire, rear seats, etc.)
While I do love the styling (yes I'm one of the few) you can get a comparable genesis coupe V6 with 350 ponies that's already rwd and weighs close to the same. Plus both cars have next to no major aftermarket and used ones are price comparable. The very low power fwd and low aftermarket kill this for anything but style builds sadly.
This just wants me to build my 07 4G GT from the ground up even more.

I owned a 4th gen Sunset Orange V6 6 speed manual! I still regret selling it to this very day! I miss it a lot😭 and this video makes it miss it even more

Eclipse never was ugly to me, always thought a tinted lowered one was fine as a "nice" daily- love the dudes energy about the car so good on him
I do miss my 4g eclipse. I don't miss drilling out o2 sensor spacers every week to try to remove the check engine code from the header. BTW 4cyl had a 5 speed manual
I was gonna comment about the trans. Lol. And yeah that damn CEL!!! I just replace my o2 sensor every year before inspection. It lasts about 2 weeks before the light comes back on. 🙄
Awesome build, theres a guy that moved from Toronto Canada to fForida with a wide body, turbo/supercharged awd eclipse (same generation as this one). Car made 600 whp. Amazing build. Car was built for time attack.

when i was a wee lad i thought these looked so sick. apparently i was the only one😂
Those Eclipse's are quick they have 263hp/260tor, if it's V6 model weighing at 3,472lbs which isn't too bad. Knock off 572 pounds you have a car weighing 2900lbs which is great for it's horsepower, I would do some bolt on's atleast get it to 350-400 ish horsepower. Yeah I like those car's alot, they have potential!
the problem with that is a 5.0 mustang is like 3500-3600lbs, 570lbs is a lot of weight to knock off a car without gutting it. if I wanted to do a sporty fwd coupe just get a cobalt ss turbo(or s/c) or get a scion tc which has the trd s/c kit for it, dramatically better platforms.

AFROoOoOo respect dude! I love your car, I've always seen these eclipses and I've alway thought they should have their own widebody option, respect for making and putting in the work. As a Lancer owner I converted it to an Evo X and yeah the bumpers are custom fit (the original evo has dem curves), so I know how hard you worked on that car!! Lol.
This use to be my dream car when I was a little kid playing need for speed most wanted. Still love the way it looks. Might go actually pick one up this year and try to fit a crazy drive train.
I just wish converting it to a rwd car would be financially feasible. Or that Mitsubishi would have produced an all wheel drive drive train.
True. A rwd-only conversion for EVO Lancers would still be ruling the streets too. Mitsubushi/DSM dropped the ball back in the day.
Good thing this Eclipse has a chassis mount racing wing, wide wheels, custom widebody kit, and carbon fiber hood- these are absolutely necessary for the raw performance of an automatic FWD coupe with a ~8.5s 0-60 time. Really comes in handy all those times at the race track.

I remember when these first hit the magazine I was at my local autozone when they used to sell import tuner and super street magazines I was very disappointed,I was like really??? This is the next generation eclipse??? I remember clearly it was an orange colored one when they introduced it..many years later tho,I remember seeing one with wheels,lowered,had some type of different front fascia and dark headlight housing,I thought to myself damn these cars have potential! So props to this owner for taking on a unpredictable challenge lol
Yeah, they look kinda bland and bubbly without any body mods, especially on the front end. The front thing it had was probably the optional factory kit, which believe me, makes these things look completely different. I'm working on painting a set for mine right now
