It's honestly impressive how well DMC3 holds up or rather was years ahead of it's time and in a lot of ways still is compared to most action games. Itsuno and his team are geniuses. I can't wait for Dragon's Dogma 2.

I like DMC3 Vergil. His move set is more simplistic, yet very effective. Can’t take away from DMC 4/5 Vergil, tho. They expanded upon his already great move set.

I must say the Best Style meter gauge algorithm is from DMC4 and DMC4SE. Because as long as you don't get hit, the style meter never goes down to lower Style except above S.
You know Turbo Mode? There's a mod for Turbo Mode because 5 doesn't have it unless it's the special edition. Unlike an official Turbo you can also make the game slower and make it look like you're a master at the combat. I love it because it's for people that don't have time to master the combat. However, it can be used for evil such as using the mod and saying that you did it at a normal or Turbo pace. I also love it because I can use it for making videos like AMVs or Lore Accurate DMC Protagonists or anything like that. I wish people made mods for shooter games too because I could use that for games like Doom, Wolfenstein, and even Call of Duty. Uncharted 4 has a cheat that you need to buy in-game that has slow motion and I love it. I'm not the type to cheat for all my playthroughs, only when I'm in the mood to bully the AI or if I want to make a certain video.

DT Explotion. If you collect DT while holding down the DT button, You will get "Red DT". When you let go of the button there will be an explotion and the dmg output depends on how much DT you spent. 0:02 You can see this if you look at the DT bar. Dante can do this aswell.
I do really miss some of dmc3 vergils attacks like how you can do round trip and it would automatically let you use yamato ,or the backwards slash and let you quickly slash infront of you without making enemies airborn,or the rising star kick with Beowulf, hate how those 2 attacks are now combo ending exclusive s
Personally DMC 3 Vergil movesets is superior compared to the 4th or 5th game, perhaps they just need to increase the action speed to make it bearable to play. Rising Sun skills, no charging Beowulf, amazing Lunar Phase, superior Air Tricks ability compared to the 4th or 5th installement...
Also with Corrupt Vergil ( He's in Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 as well as a Skin and i think how Vergil Looked when not in His Devil Trigger Form in Devil May Cry 1) you get Nelo Angelo Devil Trigger
I think it's easier to see what is going on and also make good combos since he has a more limited move-set and the maps are smaller with lesser enemies at a time.

Nothing beats dmc3 Demon Slayer Also dmc3 vergil always felt way stronger than Dante. Every other incarnation has Vergil seeming more equal. Dmc 3 if Vergils blade was popping out, so was a blur.
I mean to be fair, Dmc 4 Vergil was uniquely made since he had to actual appearence to pull from in the game, and Dmc 5 pulls from and expands upon this template of Vergil, the reason he seems so particularly overpowered in DMC 3 despite the rather simple kit is just due to the fact that slight alterations for fluidity aside, you're literally just playing as the final boss of the game.

This is why I still love 3 more than 5. Because even if there are comical moments, 3 still take its story seriously. 5 puts a nice conclusion, but you can't help but getting pulled back from the story everytime it cracks an MCU level joke. It's almost like they surrendered to the audience, it gave up on hooking the player on the story and just decide to make fun of itself.
The gameplay definitely The story.... there are people out there that like 5 or even 4's story better so it's sort of debatable. Me personally I like 5's story the best because the entire time the antagonist was Vergil. However, 3 had the best opening to the first mission and end credit sequence. The Graphics are still PS2 but I think it holds because this was peak PS2, it just doesn't hold up AS Much as the gameplay.
the switch version or style switcher mod seems to have a slight thing but vergil is too strong for that in 3 its better for a dante three way comparision between regular 3 style switcher/switch and 5

Just discovered that each time Vergil sheaths Yamato, it adds a little bit of devil trigger. Love all the mini details and flair added to DMC3
It also does damage to enemies because he would sheath, then quickly draw-cut and re-sheath so fast you can't see just like in the cut-scenes.
