I got an 8trak of Agents of Fortune on my 16th birthday and wore it out in my very very used hand me down 65 Oldsmobile. ( under dash player of course) I still have the original vinyl in my collection and a CD somewhere - And yeah Robin Zander is definitely one of my top singers., Paul Roger in my personal favorite.
    Great episode. Thanks.

I saw BOC during the Agents of Fortune tour when "Reaper" was brand new on the radio airwaves. I more recently had a chance to see them in 2022 when they played a show near us and had the good fortune of seeing Buck, before the show, come out into the audience. I suppose he was trying to check out the crowd incognito, he was wearing common clothing not his gig outfit, had short hair and was wearing glasses. I recognized him instantly (my wife always says, "You always recognize famous people right away. She's right. I saw Iggy Pop standing in line at a 7-11 with his chauffeur when we walked in and told her, "Look! There's Iggy Pop". I didn't call out to him as it was his moment to just do an ordinary thing without capturing attention so I just savored the moment and let it go.) Back to Buck Dharma, he was talking to some people in the audience who realized who he was about 10 yards down my aisle from me and I waved to him and called, "Hi, Buck!" and he waved back. I would have loved to have told him I saw him back in 1976 playing "Don't Fear The Reaper", it was such a good gig that night. While all this was happening, a young girl came running through our aisle shouting, "Hey, look. There's Uncle Donald!" That family had the chance to talk with him for about fifteen minutes or so before the show came on. What a joy it was to see a true rock star treating people like an old friend. No pretentious shit, just being human.

Robin Zander..who knew? Love the youtube era where these interviews are so available. Love BOC since I first saw them in 1976. Buck is criminally under the radar on lists of great guitarists. One minor detail to add- While band was put together in 1967, the seeds were sown at Clarkson University in Potsdam in 1965 when Buck and Albert met as engineering students. Buck from LI, Albert a North Country guy from Clayton on the St Lawrence. Great interview thanks !!!!

A great band. I spent a lot of time in Stony Brook in a science fiction library at the State University there. Cultösaurus Erectus is my favourite album, and had one of their collaborations, the song "Black Blade", with award winning Science Fiction & Fantasy writer Michael Moorcock who also collaborated with the British band Hawkwind.

For those that remember, Buck played lead on “STARZ” (The Dio humanitarian fund raiser) along side all of the 80s gunslingers such as Yngwie,Lynch, Gillis etc… For me personally, Buck nailed it…tasty and melodic, but I never really went for that shred stuff.

~~ Zander has been underrated - I love Paul Rogers - Freddie Mercury - John Fogarty - Jim Morrison - Ronnie James Dio and many others - they are all among the greatest, most powerful and unique voices in R & R - but Robin Zander is also a great one ..

B.O.C. killed live every time I saw them. It's a little weird to see these pretty ordinary looking old guys and realize that they were one of the most powerful, heavy and mind blowingly cool bands to ever exist.

I went to a Kinks concert back in 1977 (great show, by the way). The opening act was a new band I had never heard of before and they rocked the place leaving an impression of a band that was likely on the way to becoming a very much "known" act. What a great experience it was to see "Cheap Trick" in the beginning stages of a long, long career. My wife keeps telling me, "If Cheap Trick plays a concert we can get to, let's go!" She wasn't even born yet in 1977 and it impresses me she is into this band. My response is, "Yes, we will!"

One thing that bothers me about BOC is that they don't seem to have confidence in themselves. When Zep were asked about their favorites they would say themselves. A bit egotistical, sure, but it wouldn't hurt if Buck and Eric would say "well, other than by boy Buck/Eric, my favorite musicians are..."

Well I'll agree with you that Robin Zander isn't the best rock singer that I too have heard he doesn't make my top 5 even but he is probably in the top 10 to 15 range. Yet I would disagree with you in this regard in saying that he is really talented & underrated as his band & bandmates were as well at their respective musical contributions.
