    Great thoughts at the end about finding a pack weight your comfortable with & every trip is different.
    Some fellas like to bring every piece of gear they own & some go out only in their jammies. You hit the nail on the head about finding what works for you. Thanks Shug

    Nicely done as usual Shug. I've got some work to do to get me weight down. Right now I'm usually around 40 lbs mostly because my gear is old school. Thanks for the info.

    OMG, JRB Down Sleeves stuffing your neck pillow. Ingenious! This information is a lifesaver. Very cool. TThank you, Shug. A tip back atcha: add a very small, perhaps 1-2 ounce, spray mist bottle (usually available at cosmetics counters, e.g Walgreens) full of Febreeze. A couple squirts on the tighty whities and hiking garb, and fresh as a Scotch pine breeze by mornin'. Thanks again, Shug. Keep the videos coming. And plz have Karl do one; more Karl, more Karl.

    Another great video. I need to slim down my pack weight a bit, but when I go out I usually go on a Kayak camp so I have a lot of room for gear and food. Typical extended weekend hikes/floats are what I'll do. You definitely need a show on the Outdoor Channel.

    Glad I watched this video. I am doing a 12 day on the Superior Hiking trail near the middle (Caribou Falls waypoint to Wales with an out and back past the parking) on Sept 9th to 20th. I never considered long john type clothing since I can usually go through October without them here in Pa.

    • @shugemery
      @shugemery  5 років тому

      Not sure I know where Wales is on the trail. Have fun up there.

    • @tonyrobbins6
      @tonyrobbins6 5 років тому

      @@shugemery Thanks. Wales is Straight North from 2 harbors on Highway 2. It was kinda of a joke to those who asked were I was hiking. I told them from Finland to Wales. They thought I was going overseas to hike, then tried to figure out how I was getting from Finland to Wales on foot. ROFL. If you go up highway 2 to the SHT crossing, then the third road according to google maps, there is a road called Wales Rd., if your zoomed into just the right point, you'll see a label for Wales. I don't know if it is actually a town or not, but it is there.
      It would be soo cool to just happen upon Shug on the weekend of Sept 13-15 were I'll be staying at (13) fault line, (14) West or East Split Rock (depending on ability to cross), or Sunday (15) at Gooseberry River.
      I have decided to cut my hike a little short and leave for home on Thursday Sept 19 rather than Sat 21. I am an overseer for a section of the Mid State Trail in Pa as well as a Regional Manager. They are having a 50th anniversary celebration of the trail as well as a celebration of being awarded the 2019 trail of the year award on Saturday 21.

    Whooo Buddy! Thats a GREAT video! Lots of interesting stuff stuffed in that there pack. Looks like gear is different for all of us dependent on where we're located. We get like NO rain here so my pack is different than yours. I have a LOT of experimenting to do and a LOT of weight to pull out of my pack. Just getting started but certainly learn something with every video of yours I watch. Now if I could just stay up on a unicycle and juggle more than 1 ball :-) Is that considered juggling?..

    I use a hennessy hammock and I carry a knife, canteen cup/canteen, firesteel, sleeping bag and what ever food I'm going to carry. Is this enough? Is it bad for the environment the more stuff you buy because it uses natural resources to make it?

    Do you ever hang that tea candle lantern? If so, do you ever hang it inside your BBXLC in the netting? I feel that would be all kinds of cool, but I don't want to end up being a giant hanging hobo pack.
