    That clean tone is to die for. Also, glad to see Tosin emphasizing so much on his clean tones amidst other 8 string guitarists who just want to djent on that lowest string all day long.

      Well, you have seen him play clean lol, hardly anyone can keep up with Tosin. Take deep thumping as well, still, hardly any other guitarists in the 8 string metal world shredding with their right hands. Pure talent and he is humble and appreciates the artistic element in his discussion

      Check out Ichika Nito's 7 string and 8 string songs. Most unique stuff on 7+ string guitars.
      Check these out Circle, A bell is not a bell, Flowers, Resolution, Lonely Again and the list goes on.

    It's so crazy, you often see guys demoing their signature gear and like yeah sure it sounds like them playing but it's never anything you weren't expecting. When you hear these playing clips, it sounds like Tosin. Partially due to his technique and unique style, obviously, but these tones sound like the *produced* tones off the records. That kind of blew my mind.

    I just ordered my first 8 string, I've been playing guitar since I was 10 so 22 years now and have always played 6 string and I bought a very cheap 7 string like 2 years ago to try it out and loved it but I wanna go deeper down the extended range rabbit hole lol and I've loved listening to Animals as Leaders for years now and love listening to Tosins playing and I made the jump. I got an Agile Chiral Nirvana headless 8 string model and cannot wait for it to come in.

    Damn the volume staying consistent on the voicing changes is brilliant! That's always been my only complaint with coil tapped or split pickups. How did they wire them to achieve consistent volume?
    I got the stephen carpenter set a year or two ago and they are great. These would definently be my next active but right now I'm in the passive market.

    • @BrettFairchild
      @BrettFairchild 6 років тому +6

      So it's not how they wire it that keeps the volume consistent, it's the pickups themselves. They're not wound at all. Instead, they run off circuit boards in the pickups that allow for silence, consistent volume, and most of all, multiple voicings.

    What is he playing at 2:18 right before the C#m7add#5 it sounds like a C#sus2 but a little different. It also looks a little different but i can figure it out. But going from C#sus2 to C#m7add#5 sounds really nice. But maybe the first chord hes playing is a C#sus2/D? It sounds right and also looks more like what hes playing. Anyone?

    • @dudemcdudeman5274
      @dudemcdudeman5274 2 місяці тому

      Amaj7#4 but he isn't playing the root or 5th so we hear C#sus2, he is also doubling up on the G# (A̸ , G#, C#, D#, G#). C#sus2/D sounds wrong and I think you were correct in your initial thought of C#sus2, He is fingering the Amaj7#4 but keep in mind the same finger he is using for the low A, he is also using to mute the what would be an open D (which maybe made it look like he was using D but is just being muted) due to using a Amaj 'shell' voicing which omits the 5th, going 1,7,3, and then using his forefinger to bar the high B and E strings giving a #4,7.

    • @ryanmccarter9859
      @ryanmccarter9859 6 років тому +2

      I think he misspoke--everything I've seen and read indicates it's the outer coil, which would make sense because Frank Falbo (one of the lead R&D engineers on the Fluence line, who posts at the Seymour Duncan forum) said Tosin's neck pickup actually has two different magnetic circuits. It's the outside coil that actually has individual alnico pole pieces like a Strat pickup, precisely so that you can split to it and get authentic single coil tones.
