Starting my bagpipe journey, these were recommended. I ordered a set several months ago. Now I don't have a bagpipe or my money. I'm greatful I ordered through paypal.
Nothing worse than a set that you have to fight and wrestle with to get going and up to standard..I'll be looking into the later versions to see the corrections and improvements .
Theres better quality poly pipes for around £500 ish ,no fluxuation in sound ,great for play and go with minimal tuning ,although i think they sounded ok. wouldnt mind a set of duncan McRaes
You'll never get the true sound if their not Black wood . Piping has changed over the years and instruments set up has gone to the dogs when so called " pipe majors " carry a gouging tool because they do NOT have the brains or skills to " dress " a chanter read .. .. those " Fisher Price " pipes are simply a novelty toy . Reaming inside tapered bore of drones and chanter is a very skillful art and I'm speaking from experiencing first hand visiting Sinclairs workshop Madera St Edinburgh 50 years ago seeing hands on craftsmen and work .. .. those Mickey Mouse pipes sound absolutely 💩💩💩 but they are what they are A TOY 😱😱😱
It always cracks me up when people claim " you can't hear the difference between ABW and Poly Pipes"... I'm always blown away because I can hear an obvious difference and others who aren't tone or harmonic deaf can hear the difference too. It's usually those who spend several hundred dollars on poly Pipes who are making the claim there is no differece

Feeling rather vindicated my dissertation was proved correct. Just a shame I never got to build them because of Covid

Every bagpipe fluctuates in sound with a beginner playing them.
If they take money out of the rosewood loving crowd then it’s a thumbs up
