great video, i had a day on a site back in the 70,s riding on Terex scrapers and dozens,I've loved big machines all my life, now I'm 50, great stuff. but never worked in the industry.
Looks like they are pushing flathead don't make money that way take it down it's all got to go push on a decline those scrapers will load in half the time
I wish I had pictures of my father but i do not. The DD9 was used to build the circulation canals to cool the nuclear power plant in Virginia. This was in 1970. There were several DD9s used in West Virginia to build I-64 about the same time.
@@larryclemmer5583 what is name I thought they called those quad nines they set up side by side nines also. One operator that is when Engineers made something functional with out the necessity of computers and buttons wired to lengths of coated metal that possibly could fail in certain climates and weather conditions. Hurrah
is it a case of ... your going over the top,,, their is two of us ,,, and one of you,,, great postings ,, we do not have many heavy units like this in the uk,,,
While your hear watching this maybe you can explain something to me, why do you guys in Canada not tag up the same way the Californians do? ie the scraper does not stop and is picked up on the run? you have cushions on your 11,s yet the 51 stops and you tag up slowly (as compared to the video)
Apparently SO CAL Earthmovers utilizes their Scrapers ALOT ! Just about every video of theirs features their fleet of Scrapers . Another thing to add they got some really ballsy Scraper operators. To come down those steep hills ….. smh. 👍
Is there a reason why the noses of these machines have always pointed skyward? You know, like that cute blonde that you just smiled at? Does that angle help the digging somehow?
Why push the pans? Do they all need to be pushed? Seems like a shit load of work, hours, fuel, and everything to move one pan of dirt. Will it not dig under it's own power?
No. They won’t load as quickly. Limited by traction. A 657 (twin motors) will self load better or in a gang. 653’s have paddles to load. For moving big dirt these guys are king .
Why doesn't the first dozer to return start pushing instead of trying to keep in the same order. Seems like that would be more efficient, but then again I know nothing about scrapers. Biggest I ever ran was a 330CL
+PA diecast construction Production, don't let the scrapers stop just keep pushing...Most the time they stay in the same order but when one 651 loads out to long the other pushcat breaks off to tag the next scraper
I know it's years later but 651's use the dozers as propulsion power. The tractor engine of the scraper is more for hydraulic impliment control and functions. Twin engine push pull scrapers hook up and load over longer distances where as single engine scrapers need assist load in a short but deep cut.
Thought that one farthest from you was going to fall off the edge - from where you were filming that looked a bit hairy. Odd assortment of drivers they must employ - one virtually stopped dead half way down the slope then another goes past you with a virtually empty can.
That's because that scraperhand took way to long and that's how pushcat hands tell you that you fucked up. They leave your ass full or not. Good stuff. I hope it was dean.
+88bigbyrd I bet he went down that hill like 'a bat out of hell' as I presume the brakes had been removed. Wouldn't like to be the very first down on a job like that. The ground in the background looked very flat - had it already been graded.
+88bigbyrd Only thing better is when they stop in the cut or go on the wrong side and the push cat bangs the s#!t out of them to let them know! I love it!

Very impressive operation. One leaves as the next one lines up. They have the timing down pat!
God gives them the water from up North they keep building the best dirt movers in the world

doing a good job good operateing not any wasted moves keep it up
being pushed off a cliff.......impressed with the skills.
Changing the shape of that
Another great video, keep em coming, thumbs up, as always.
+John Kirkwood Thanks John
Ain't discussing what color tie today
pushcat is busy work... but these fellas do it right
They will give you that look if aren't
Man just makes my blood.boil love to go back but this old cowboy been put out to Pasteur
That's a scraper show. Impressive. Those push cats never came out of 3rd gear.... crazy.
That ain't crazy that's a good scraper hand
Wow, two dozer pushing - that's rare for me! Nice video!
In the 70 my father operated a DD9 which was two D9 tied together with only one operator
@@larryclemmer5583 I have some photos of the DD9 in books. That's cool Larry. Did your father has photographs of the machine? How was driving it?

Man that soil is dry as a bone. Better wake up the waterman.
:-))
It's loading good
Wow those push cat guys are something
Buenas noite meus amigos operadores de máquinas pesadas uma excelente semana galera

How are those 651s getting back up the hill?
You'd think the developer would want hilltop lots. Oh, well.
that's a badass video

Top my friend 😃🤝👍
Good action here...what's-up with the guys with no enclosed cab...must be on punishment...trade-in that Old Iron and get more production.
I prefer open cab
Maybe he likes running the ole open cab, that ole 10N probably has some balls
Would have liked to see where/how far the scrapers are going, but it looks like very efficient way of earth moving.
What do you accomplish more in a day
Hokla desde puerto Ricco son unos mostro con cat saludo 😱😱😱😱😱
Bagus saya suka metode kerja nya,sya juga operator alat" berat .
Nice video !
+Morghat Thanks

I feel for the guy in the open cab dozer. Dust city. How about some water?

Something to do with the cushion hitch I believe..
Torque effect when front wheels are pulling.

never ran a scraper but wouldnt it make sense to take a shallower but longer cut so the machine can pull easier?
I know it's years later but 651's use the dozers as propulsion power. The tractor engine of the scraper is more for hydraulic impliment control and functions. Only if you are self loading
@@marclaky384 well stated MArc
Shorter the load, less wear on u/c I believe
How many yards an hour are they moving?
A Cat 651E heaped capacity is about 44 cubic yards and I see about 3 scrapers a minute or 44 x 3 x 60 = 7,920 cubic yards an hour.

Those two guys maybe went to the beach early that day
Are the pan operators lowering their aprons too late to keep from letting their loads from falling out the front under the apron?
Good observation that is the secret to loading a scrapers
You can capture that material several adjustments of apron some leave it in one position you get a better load and a bigger if u like fat gals
