- This overgrown property was in terrible shape! Not only was the front yard overgrown, but the sidewalk was full of weeds, and the backyard was starting to grow higher than the fence. When I first saw the backyard, I wondered if mowing with a lawn mower was even possible. I couldn't tell if anything was hiding in the 8-foot-tall jungle. I located the owner and gave him a call. He was surprised that I wanted to tackle such a project! He asked me when I did go out to make sure nobody was living in the backyard... Um...
So they have a shed in the back that apparently somebody must have been in before. A few soda bottles were found when I looked, but nobody was present onsite. After I completed the job, the homeowner came and was blown away at the results! We went into the backyard, and he checked again to make sure nobody was in the shed and it had not been damaged or vandalized anywhere. We spoke about the garden bed, and he said that they have plans to either expand the house or build a duplex, meaning that the yard will have to be removed and re-landscaped. It needs to be anyway.

What blows my mind is that the neighbors wont lift a finger or spend a dollar to keep this property in decent shape. For close to a decade I had an elderly and extremely poor neighbor who couldn't maintain his yard himself or afford to hire someone to do so. I maintained his yard and mine while working 55+ hours a week at a full time job! We used to ALWAYS have him over for good home cooked meals year round and did not expect ANYTHING in return except to know that he had peace of mind. When he passed, he left the property to a son who lived across the country who NEVER put out a penny to try and care for his father and I still felt no ill will. We did what did because it was right, not out of any expectations of getting something monetarily out of it.
Sorry, but why should the neighbors be responsible for the yard of a house that the owner isn't living in, isn't taking care of, nor even known to the neighbors?

The neighborhors knows the old guy way better than us and there might be a reason people avoid him.

You do realize that you pay for these lawn guys to "pick up the grass clippings". None of them do it out of the goodness of their hearts. It's all worked into the bid.

That back yard was unbelievable! I appreciate how you haul away the debris and you rake and mower vac the clippings instead of leaving them there to dry up and look awful. Your finished products are always nice and clean.
Watch a bit harder he doesn't always clear everything away.

You are among my top 4 in what you do. I'm an old guy and I used to be able to do some of the more physical things in jobs and or. I started cutting grass at 8 yrs. and I'm 68 now and this is the first year of all the years I had to quit. I'm ok physically but my body said no and now my son comes and takes care of my lawn with no questions. I guess I raised that boy alright. I didn't know what I was going to do. Damn, I just couldn't do it in the heat know more. Raise your children as well as you can and positives can happen.

I know what you’re saying. I’m 52 and this summer basically beat me. We have 3 acres that also has to all be weed eated all around it. I’m two weeks with overgrown grass. We’ll get it done until the fall when it goes dormant but after that I’m calling someone to do it. Just can’t any more.
I always enjoy your videos because you always have such a positive attitude and your work ethic is top notch. You’re one of the few who clean up the debris left from mowing and trimming. You said “anything is possible with the right equipment”……that little munchie you have took care of the tallest jungle with no issues! Great transformation! Kudos!

Many years ago I rented an old house that was very over grown. I decided to work on the yard, since I could see a few fruit trees. Well, the home was beautiful, the lawn was beautiful and after the shrubs and trees were pruned and cut back, it looked like paradise.

I love how you haul off the cutting. Your edging is spot on. Once you’re done everything looks great. Instead of a bunch of cut grass piled up on the yard, which will kill the lawn. Thanks for sharing Fill!

I have not been watching you that long but I enjoy seeing what you do. Everyone comments on how you clean everything up, this is great. We are a retired couple and try to help out our neighbors. Today we have a crew coming in to trim down some trees for an elderly couple across from us. He is in his 80’s and climbing on a ladder to do the work. I put my foot down and hired a crew. He is so thankful it fills my heart. Thank you for sharing your adventures.

Very nicely done, both as a good deed, and taking such care in tending to the lawn. It was actually refreshing to see a video when an overgrown yard wasn't filled with an assortment of junk. Sure, some window screens that had fallen to the ground, but generally very clean. And raking up afterward is always a welcome sight.

If someone told me I would enjoy watching a show like this at 73, I would think they were off their rocker. I have worked in the medical field for many years and never paid attention to overgrown lawns. I really find it relaxing as well as enjoyable. Each person has a different style and some do more for beautiful finished results. You keep designing and I'll keep watching from Boston.

Beautiful job. I like so much how you don't chop all the trees down, you leave some for the beauty of them. Some yard guys just hack them all out, or if they "trim" them they botch the job by not standing back and looking at the shape of the tree then trim it to keep its shape. I love your channel.
@@leefrancis7416 Oh, I agree with you on that. I'm talking several year old trees that can be trimmed and left for the aesthetics of the yard. I have seen some chopped out or trimmed not so pretty.
Fill, you take on some tough tasks, my friend. So many of the yards you service are in need of a tree specialist. Having worked in construction for over forty years, I can assure you that the trees that grow next to these houses ARE destroying the foundations, which destroys the house itself. They need to come down. Too bad there doesn't seem to be anyone providing that service to these houses.
I was thinking about that as I watched him leave saplings uncut against the house. I love trees as much as the next person, but they need room to grow. All those in that yard were weed trees, and needed to be removed.
@@noraleestone2859 I'm less concerned about trees that ARE NOT "endangered" than I am about the $700,000.00 it would take to tear down and rebuild that house . . . at today's prices. Those aer new windows . . . on a house that is not new construction. Somebody put money into that house and it's on the verge of being "wasted money."
Good pick to help get a neighborhood in order. Nice to see the design lines reappear and the cute house emerge. People could forget what good skills and equipment can accomplish. To clean up the lost back yard, for most people would be a long-lasting nightmare. Thank you for your work and a massive restoration.

This is my favorite mowing channel because you’re super detailed, just like me. Debris removal, trimming bushes and trees, and no throwing the dirt and grass in the yard and just mowing it and leaving piles of dead grass in the yard. Keep up the good work!

True Pro level. I know it's outside the scope of what you do, but that tree near the gas meter/line and right up against the house is real trouble down the road. Could mess up the gas line, siding, and roof.

As a re-freshed (not 're-tired') senior, i would highly recommend using a back brace. Over the years, the body bending and twisting takes a toll on the back. Seattle yard challenge.
