This is one of the best board reviews to date. Surfing was one point as always, multiple different surfers, and the description of the fins and their foil was so helpful and easy to understand. Thanks so much Noel and the S&S Crew absolutely nailed it yeew 🤙🏼
It was a sick review as always and I just bought one haha, so thanks! But my only criticism is your surfing in the ocean was so much better (I’m pretty sure that’s not to do with the hip op, age etc, just more mundane waves in the pool imo). Still ripping and a great review as always so not negging 👍
@@sergioalvarez376 The HK2 might be a little faster and easier to surf. It’s more forgiving. The FRK Swallow offers more vertical surfing in the pocket and the rail offers a little more hold in power carves

Hey Noel, great review as always! Just wondering if you’ve had a chance to surf the Christenson OP3 and how it might compare to the FRK Swallowtail? I’d love to hear your thoughts. Thanks!
How does the volume effect the board? My perfect volume tends to be about 22.5 - 23 liters but I love the outline of the frk but the volume seems a bit high for me. I currently ride a 5’7” Orion lark at 22.5 liters.
@@maxissalty2368 Volume can affect the board a bit especially if the board is longer. It will draw out your turns a bit and it can also make it a little tougher to link maneuvers together quickly.
If i currently ride a Machadocado at 5'6" (32L) as my groveler with extra volume, do you think it'd be good to look at an FRK Swallow around 30L? Looking between a Dominator 2 and potentially an FRK+/Swallow for an HP shortboard in more head high+ surf
@surfnshowreviews7777 Thanks for the feedback, Noel. I don't mind having an extra liter or two, I've just noticed on some boards like the Seaside, where it really limits the responsiveness if the volume is too high. Appreciate your content, as always.
I was almost going to pull the pin and get the Sci-Fi 2.0 then saw this board review. Would it be fair to say the FRK Swallow would be very similar but a touch more spicey/responsive/performance-focused?
@@10SNE1 for me I like the Swallow the best. It’s a little shorter and faster so shreds the small end of the wave spectrum year round…. Especially in So Cal surf.
@@surfnshowreviews7777 hey Noel that’s a pity. I got a 5,11 stock bro dim and it is one of the best boards i have had.. 30 plus surf experience. Really surprised how well it behaves . I think it diserves a look 😊
@@surfnshowreviews7777 maybe someone close to him can get us that answer.. it for sure made me think a lot and wonder if I need to try being more patient with higher volume. I recently tried the Dominator 2 in 5'6 with 28L and it felt sluggish in small beachbreak waist high waves and it felt harder to do a bottom turn but it paddled in pretty easy. I'm used to the 5'4 mashup with 27L or even my 5'8 Chilli Volume II with 26L as my high performance shortboard.
@@madscientistdan transitioning into dadbod life 🤪. I actually think he looks good on that extra volume. Guy is so powerful and technically accurate it’s hardly a disadvantage for him.
@@trestlesrocks hmmm yea could be! I agree I thought he looked really good, he surfed it really well and I wouldn't have known he was using much more volume based on the type of surfing he was doing. It got me thinking even more! Is the FRK+ and maybe the other FRKs something that can surf similar even if you go with higher volume since its a narrow shape and maybe the rails aren't quite as full? For instance if I up the volume on the Dominator 2 maybe because it being shorter and wider its going to be harder to do the same type of surfing than with a size down. For a while I've been wondering if my 5'6 at 28L is too much and I need the 5'4 at 26L.
Not a mystery he explains at the end of there video in detail that he wanted to surf something with more meat to it because he's going to Fiji soon. Also if I were in a pool I'd choose 24l - smaller/tighter wave, but also one take off spot where you get your turn. in the ocean 28l where I have to paddle against current, hunt down peaks, crowds, less than perfect wave, etc. not rocket science guys.
