@the bridges so? That doesn't mean you can't do something that's completely safe to do. I do it ALL the time when I use one of these to start all kinds of fires. Barbecue, campfire, bonfire. There's nothing wrong with using a simple lighter to poke a simple fire idiot.

@Fortnite Replay of course it's residue but isn't all burnt food just residue of carbon?
@@electricheartpony true
@@electricheartpony Not really, burnt food is often the result of other chemicals breaking down and being burned off, leaving behind the carbon atoms. In the case of the water, there is no carbon present until the calcium carbide is introduced and leaves behind a film of carbon.

It's tempered glass. They can handle a lot of heat. Besides, it looks pretty thick.

It seems to have survived quite a bit. :)
When I was a kid, I was cooking and needed an extra pot to boil water, but all I could fine was a thick heavy Pyrex measuring bowl. Having heard about the heat resistant properties of Pyrex, I thought it could sustain the heat from the electric stovetop burner. It could not. I was lucky I didn’t burn myself badly.

Here is a trick, I wanted to see what happens if the sodium exploded underwater.
I used a metal puncture repair kit which already has small holes in it.
I put in a pellet of sodium and clamped it with a G clamp and dropped it into a 4 gallon drum of water.
There were a few bubbles and then the drum of water jumped into the air - silently.
The water was pushed upwards and the drum followed it.
The metal canister was exploded over the ends of the G clamp.
There was no bang, the drum jumped up about a metre and then fell down.
Four gallons of water would have weighed forty pounds.
If orbeezs are 99.9% water, then boil them 👍👍
I tried that in my home
@@Prajwal____ what happened

Well that was a little fun to watch, when i put those orbeez in a bowl, and then heated that bowl from below, a very weird sound started to come, i left it for 2min, the surface which was touching the bowl got stuck there, it was really very hot, so then i took a stick to take it off, and when it was not stuck there, i moved the bowl such that if there was a marble then it should come in a circular motion with respt to the bowl, then what, the orbeez while performing a circular motion made a very wierd sound, that sound was like a machine gun firing with some bombs blasting in between, they dont want to be in circular motion, if u move the bowl slowly then those orbeez will be stuck where they are, for this spinning experiment i took only 3-4 orbeez, and also while spinning those orbeez will tend to jump outside the bowl while u are moving the bowl...
If humans are 95 percent water then boil them.

I'm not a chemist at all but I would loved to see some reaction formulas when the carbide was burning. Like: how is it making Acetilene and how does the molecule even look like?
So looking at Wikipedia:
Calcium carbide:
The pure material is colorless, while pieces of technical-grade calcium carbide are grey or brown and consist of about 80-85% of CaC2 (the rest is CaO (calcium oxide), Ca3P2 (calcium phosphide), CaS (calcium sulfide), Ca3N2 (calcium nitride), SiC (silicon carbide), etc.). In the presence of trace moisture, technical-grade calcium carbide emits an unpleasant odor reminiscent of garlic.
Applications of calcium carbide include manufacture of acetylene gas, generation of acetylene in carbide lamps, manufacture of chemicals for fertilizer, and steelmaking.
Acetylene is C2H2.
I guess that Ca disolves in the water or burns a bit.
What happens? 🤔
24 view
My grandparents old home used to have acetylene lights by using a calcium carbide in a gas generator which would drip water on chunks of CaC2. My grandfather final rewired the house in '47 using the gas lines as conduits and the old gas fixtures fitted with light sockets for the bulbs. My dad complained that electric lights weren't as good a light as the acetylene gas lamps to read by.

When I was kid, one-day I was playing with calcium carbide(it is pretty cheap and available here in grocery stores as many use it in lamps and oxyacetylene welding).... I was playing with it in backyard and suddenly my father came and said "stop playing with fire" and poured some water on it ... The flame increased and started burning 2x more .... My father freaked out and I laughed so hard 😂
As well as osmotic pressure, I suspect the sodium heating up helped to thermally degrade the polymer where it was in contact, permitting even more rapid release of free water.
I wonder just how many possible experiments with Orbeez can be left lol
everybody gangsta until the ice starts burning
Minor correction: Sodium explodes because it loses its valence electron in water, and when enough atoms do it,they repel each other at high speeds
