- Kanye West shared two new songs on his official Soundcloud page.
One is a new version of "Say You Will," with an appearance from Caroline Shaw, and the other is his own version of the Weeknd's "Tell You Friends" which Kanye renamed "When I See It."
not even mad that i found this in 2021, just glad it exists

Sebastian Delatorre lmao I was just about to say this
The shit is incredible
This was, and still is the most bone-chilling song off of 808s. I don't know how Kanye managed to do it, but this song is somehow even MORE chilling than the original version.
tehandroidmaster I would argue "Bad News” has close to or equal to amount of effect
it's that heart monitor sounding vibe
Sasori No Doku most slept on song it’s crazy
Sasori No Doku makes me think of the incredibles scene where’s in the cave of the girl w silver hair idk why
Kanye didn't produce this remix btw. It's all Caroline Shaw. Her whole sound as an artist seems to be based around her own voice, from what I can tell, so she must've took the stems and re-recorded the whole background instruments with her vocals and through stacking & manipulating them then adding back in the original heart monitor percussion + Ye's vocals.
But yeah even without this remix Say You Will has always been a classic. Same thing artsy 80s pop artists like Peter Gabriel, Kate Bush, etc got tonnes of praise for is also what got Kanye lukewarm reviews when 808s was released. But yeah thankfully in the 2010s the album got more of the recognition it deserves and Say You Will can now receive some of its due props.

miløsso yep
everything hits different at 3am
@@marcoantonio.42 about to say that even tv ad hits different

2 am right now for me but, yes it does
I like this version equally as much as the 808s version, since it's so different.
The 808s version feels empty, hollow, abyssal. Like you're floating in limbo.
This version feels like an aggressive, chaotic, violent hymn to your own grief. It's like being beaten to death in a 1400s cathedral.
Both versions are amazing in their own right. There's no real comparison between the two.
You just compared them tho. Way to go
@@JTD472 I compared the two separately, yes. I was saying that there's no real way to compare the two songs to each other.
Love that poetic description haha
Oh my what an analogy
yall are way too into this shit bro being beaten to death in a 1400s cathedral? bro u have not left your house in months 🤣
Haunting. Bone chilling. This version encapsulates the true heartache people experience, through the echoing vocals and faint whispers. It’s surprising this version wasn’t on the album, almost as if it was too chilling. The version that made it was profound still, with minimal beat and restricted vocals that give off the same sad feel to it. However, after hearing this version I genuinely felt scared, haunted, the feeling from past heartbreak and sadness. Kanye is without a doubt, a genius.
Javon White this is a remake made after 808s
Kanye works on his songs after they’re released. That’s why this was released 5 years ago and not on album
@@joeybrisk1869 Kanye must be like me then where the MOMENT you finish something you immediately go “I could’ve done x so much better!”
Caroline Shaw made Kanye's sad 'bop-pop' beat into a dreadful and psychotic episode that represents Kanye emotion better when losing Kim.
Nicely expressed......
I've never listened to Kanye in my life until today (was looking up Caroline Shaw), but this is smokin'!!
you should
It’ll change your life, at least it changed mine. Always knew Kanye, and listened to certain songs here and there, but then Blood On The Leaves vane in my friends Pandora. It was all over after that, been my favorite artist since.

welcome my friend!
Kanye West is one of the greatest artist of this generation and arguably the best hip hop solo artist of all time (along with Jay, Em, Pac, Nas, BIG,). Some may not appreciate or even realize it now but they will when his career is all said and done. One of the best careers in music history.

W
Maybe they’re not. Maybe they listen to Caroline Shaw.
😂
I think people who know the original song very well will appreciate the change in direction this remix goes. It sets a stage for his words unlike the original where the beat becomes noticeable unlike the switch ups in violins and choir here. Beautiful.
Lowry TV I love the original song more for how bare and isolating it feels but the remix brings out a gospel side that I appreciate

People can say all they want about Kanye, but you can't deny he's an amazing producer!
This cut was produced by Caroline Shaw who does all the background voices.
@@Mooseman327 true, but the original was still produced by Kanye, so the statement still holds up. Caroline pretty just replaces the main synth with her voice as well as some nice background details (her throat singing for the riser and the background voices.)
I got goosebumps. def need stuff like this in the next album.

Yeah man, imagine having opinions. Crazy, right?
@Good ol’ Douglas nah ye and tlop were a noticeable dip in quality to me at least, JIK is better than those imo but Yandhi is obviously better than all those
@@cameron2900x ye to me is a "constantly improving with each listening' record. it does a great job portraying kanye's mental health and struggles. if it were released at any other point in ye's journey, it would've been seen as gold.
the life of pablo is also one of the best rap projects of the 2015-2020 rap era, it's extremely experimental and just an all round personal listen with so many themes

I change my mind on this a lot, but right now. This might me it. Get well Kanye. Please.
No. You know.
i agree i think the beatles or people like that but kanye will always be my fav and top 10 artist ever
Beautiful, Kanye is one of the best composers of our generation and he can't even play an instrument or sing. The violin's add more emotion to the track. Some people are just born artist and some are trained. I admire his work. Every album of his blew me away.
It would seem as if he wasn't trained but he sort of was. When you listen to music from all periods of time, all genres, all cultures, you learn a lot. You learn a lot with each new piece of music you hear. He learns by listening. He listened well, he listened closely.
@@baroque4days that and putting his heart into it. He truly cares about his music and his supporters (fans). When you truly care about anything, you can do anything
I meant he has played a piano before
Crazy to think, at the time, most considered 808s to be a “throwaway” album. When in reality it was riddled with raw feelings of heartache and loss.
Winter is coming
we'll see if he drops the album 😄👌👌👌🎶🙌
+Saharathedog I think he's referring to conceptual vibe and story from the album 808s lol. "Coldest winter"

Caroline Shaw....doing things with the songs and the music that´s never been done before.......God bless yoy, Caroline!
“I pray you will!” That line hits different
The choir rising gave me instant chills holy fuck
The choir has beeps in it. It goes left to right and left to right. I was like woah
Why make me like go bruuh it’s from the original song btw. And those beeps are supposed to remind you of the life machine thing from the hospital and it is supposed to represent Kanye’s mom when she died at the hospital, kinda sad.
@@anthonyv9531 where did you recieve this information. Seems like it was just a simple vocal effect
@@kokoanuttify thats not a vocal effect its a sound from the tr808
Your name is so fitting. Why make me like go bruuh?
@@bairhall it's actually from the 909, most of the "808s" on 808s and heartbreaks are 909s
He uses the freshest ingredients and he composes them in such a way that they remain distinct, yet their flavors act constructively and created something new and beautiful. His music is really like a bouquet and each sound is a flower.
Are you eating flowers over there?
@@von4695 no, it's just a food metaphor followed by a flower simile, and then I guess there is also a sort of implied analogy that a bouquet of flowers is also made of elements that are distinctly beautiful, but also add constructively to a greater whole.

Came back to this song to see if it still gives me the chills it did back then. Definitely does. Such a beautiful track, and this version just amplifies it all.
there is no words to describe this version. i feel in love when i heard this song. it will forver hold a special place in my heart. i feel everything and nothing at once and i love it. I am free. this is freeing. bliss. thank you for posting this.
Those voices gives me goosebumps
legit the first time i got goosebumps from a song
Hearing this version makes this song feel so brand new, especially at the beginning. The moment those beeps and drums come in, it's the same song, just with a much deeper layer of emotion cus of the incoming harmonies
The Version gives me chills every time
Goddamn and here I was thinking that choir in the background couldn't get any more haunting.... Yeezy season approaching!!!!
Just discovering this today and now life makes even more sense.
WE NEED 808’s & Heartbreak 2.0
We do, but unless something tragic happens to Kanye like the death of Donda, we will likely not get one.
You should check out the New Mix for Paranoid, barely has any views
I think you could argue that MBDTF serves as a sequel to 808s. If 808s is Ye's fall, MBDTF is his comeback. It's huge and almost the opposite to 808s in a way that the two projects work together poetically. You can even compare the album covers. Both feature a picture taking up a small portion of the space. The heart on 808s can represent Kanye beat down and broken even. The red on MBDTF can be a deeper look at the heart from 808s, representing Ye refinding/reinventing himself after having everything taken away on 808s & Heartbreak. (At least that's how I interpreted it)
Sea Robin That’s an interesting perspective. I would raise another one though as a counter. I see MBDTF as a superior culmination of the feelings and concept of 808s. More complex and varied, there is actually quite a bit of sadness in Twisted Fantasy too so I find it to be the bigger more interesting mix.
And I wouldn’t say that as a knock against 808s totally cause I think that it’s in my top 4 Kanye albums and the most underrated Kanye album imo. But MBDTF is also one of the greatest albums ever made so any album seems less compared to it. Though that’s how I compare them concept wise.
Now I would say that Ye actually is closer to 808s in that it’s personal, raw, a bit of a detour from his usual releases and was pretty polarizing.
Sea Robin MBDTF is legitimately garbage. The mainstream media and his fans made him feel like shit for creating the most innovative album of the century and he had to give a backhanded apology with outdated production, boring lines about the life of a typical celebrity and bloated musical guests. 808s is a masterpiece and will always be regarded as such.
this legit made me cry, way better than the original :'(
+Ali Shuber No it isn't. This is more powerful, but the original sums up multiple years of depression in 6 minutes. The repetitiveness of it is what makes the original beautiful, as it doesn't even feel repetitive.
Shane Benjamson this instrumental is much more detailed than the other, and carolines voice is beautiful.. and i dont know whats the problem if i like this one more, kanye west produced both of them LOL..
Ali Shuber No problem if you personally like it more, but saying in general "way better" is more like stating it's a fact.
And the instrumental on Say You Will is supposed to be pretty bare. It's supposed to put you some place and leave you there. This one is comletely different. I love them both, but personally the original has a separate, more personal affect on me. Do wish Caroline's voice was in the original though...she's great.
i cried too
The coldest ever. Put this on the streamings Mr Ye..
I feel like I'm losing my mind with the sheer volume of "new old" Kanye music that I'm just finding out about
And to imagine the hundreds of insane songs he hasn’t released or finished
So beautiful in person
+bless brian Literally felt like I was about to die and be judged at the gates during the choir break. The word "otherwordly" is used a lot to describe art...but this one time it was especially true. Amazing concert.
Same I thought I was about to be lifted up like the rapture was coming 😂
I put this on repeat and it brought me out of a creative lull. Thanks Mr. West.
CAROLINES BIG UP IN THE GAME
Guaranteed chills.
Some of Kanye's music to me sounds like a raw thought, no filter, just a thought or idea that can be expanded upon and refined but he keeps it raw and personal and individual. This is one of those songs that stands out to me not because of the content specifics but just the song as a whole invoking raw and wild emotion. Caroline whispering the lyrics in the background and the loud choir section really captures what it feels like to think and to feel. As he once said on the Joe Rogan podcast, when he speaks it's not single separate ideas, it's a symphony. The symphonies he creates in his music and the power they carry not just as formations of his ideals but of the concept of an ideal itself are what make him so intriguing to me. Not that I sit down with every one of his tracks and think of the symphony of thoughts in the song, of course not, it's not the thought, its the raw emotion.
Absolutely phenomenal
0:48 "Through heaven and earth i alone am the honored one"
this arrangement is art. fucking genius.
