As such the artist has to have some credit even when others reimagine their work since the original served as inspiration. If Kanye did put the Sunday Choir together, then he deserves credit there as well for assembling a talented set of musicians to reimagine his work. Again I don’t know all the details, but when he went through his process of becoming more Christian he was regularly seen participating in Sunday worships in the community, which I thought was part of how he landed at the point in the video. And of course, substantial credit goes to the choir who bring the idea to life. Yes Kanye doesn’t sing or even conduct it, but he’s present, engages with them, created the original song, and associates his name with this project (this garnering lots of attention) but let’s them take center stage and be the focus for the audience.

@@tbrickman for sure. I don’t know the whole story of how the Sunday Choir was formed, but my comment was based off the fact that the song they sing is Kanye’s composition. As such the artist has to have some credit even when others reimagine their work since the original served as inspiration.
If Kanye did put the Sunday Choir together, then he deserves credit there as well for assembling a talented set of musicians to reimagine his work. Again I don’t know all the details, but when he went through his process of becoming more Christian he was regularly seen participating in Sunday worships in the community, which I thought was part of how he landed at the point in the video.
And of course, substantial credit goes to the choir who bring the idea to life. Yes Kanye doesn’t sing or even conduct it, but he’s present, engages with them, created the original song, and associates his name with this project (this garnering lots of attention) but let’s them take center stage and be the focus for the audience.

Ive never been to a black church but one of the things that truly brought me back to Christianity was music and having my dad and grandma involved in the praise band at church. Their music was nothing of this caliber, but I always came back to if these are the smartest most educated people i know (with bachelors, masters and doctorate degrees) and they still believe in jesus there cant be nothing to this, and there wasn't. And Im so glad I never let that die on me.
