Thanks Kylie! This is perfect to clear up the confusion!!
Oh thank heavens you explained that! No wonder I was confused 😂 Thanks for sharing! Xx
Kylie, You are just so fun! I find myself smiling back at you when I watch your videos! Thanks for this!
Awwww Ruth!!! Big hugs. 😘
Hi Kylie I'm so glad I found your channel, you are easy to listen to and come up with solutions that we face but don't know who to ask xxxx
Love this!!!! Thank you so much!!!!
I had no idea - I’ve often just eyeballed it as I follow a few American Cardmakers, and as so many have said, it doesn’t work. I too, work in inches with cardmaking - bizarre when we’re metric system here...lol. Thankyou for this !!! ❤️ Your personality is so bubbly - I think I’d still watch you if you were reading the phone book. 👍🤣 Have a great week too !!
Kylie Black hahaha!! You are too kind!! Yes I used to eyeball it and then cut too much and be so annoyed. Lol. I had no idea how many work in inches with metric. It’s great learning these things though.
Thank you so very much for all this information. I live in the states but watch a lot of videos and some use the metric system only when filming. This is going to be so helpful to me when I watch those videos. Thanks a million
Had absolutely no idea about measurements and this video literally an eye opener. Will definitely be watching tutorials. Thank you so much for your effort in your research!
Subscribed and bought the UK templates. Thank you so much Kylie for clearing the fog! xx
Tina Gray yay Tina!! I’m so happy for you. There’s so much confusion out there.
Thank you
Great idea. Thanks for working this out for us.
Linda Fielder Thank you! ❤️😘
Thanks Kylie! Superb video.
Toni Woods Thank you! Xx
Thank you for your information...very helpful.
suzy hayden yay! Thanks so much. Glad you found it useful.
I've been using the loveitchopit system for a couple of years or more. LOVE it. I have saved so much paper by being able to use this system to visualize the size of layers I want to use on my cards. Thank you so much , Kylie, for coming up with this system.
Wonderful!
Thanks Kylie this will be much easier when I watch you create , I just ordered thanks again for taking care of us in the usa
Cheryle Alton fantastic! Yes it’s so much easier to say the colour template than the measurement in three different units! Lol. Thanks for your support. It helps me create more cool stuff to help us craft.
Yay Kylie. thank you so much x
I was tormented ❤️
Thanks Kylie
You're welcome Margaret. Hope this helped you!
Thank you I have just bought the template, now I just need to get cutting my own templates. Thank you. x
val peahen all the best!! You are going to love them!!
Thank you again Kylie. I receive mine and I’m really happy
Ann-Marie Pare awww Thank you lovely!! You are so sweet. Xx
Hi Kylie 👋 As a new Cardologist, I really found my confidence knocked when i realised, the huge differences in sizes were contributing to the odd shaped cards, excess waste and my general confusion! This video has helped so much and i will be ordering some templates as soon as i can. Thankyou so much for sharing this info, it will bring the fun back to my journey.
So happy to hear this!!! Woo Hoo!!
I LOVE this!! My friends are always teasing me because I don't throw away scraps, and this is why ... there is always a way to use up the small pieces, and this one is very creative! Of course I use them for lots of other reasons, as I hate to cut into a big sheet of paper for a small need, but this card is super cute. Thanks, Kylie, I can't wait to share this with them!! (Who's laughing now?!!)
thankyou so much for this video it was so helpful
Diana Mennie happy to hear that!
Kylie, this is BRILLIANT! Thank you for the time it took to put it together.🙌🏾❤️
Yolanda Dunmore yay!! I know it will help so many understand where to start and to get a visual aid to help them create faster.
Your template will make UA-cam videos sooooo much easier for everyone to follow!!!!!! Going to get mine today #girlcrush
You are spot on, as usual, Kylie! Thank you for your down-to-earth, informative and entertaining videos. Nominating you for the Nobel Prize in cardmaking! :)
Suzie Paul hahahaha too funny. Hopefully it helps people to create easily!! It can get way too complicated.
Great idea Kylie! It would be really good for crafters who find it hard to visualise or new card makers who are still getting the hang of card layers.
Kim Heath yes totally!!! Helps them BIG time.
Wow am I glad I watched you tonight kylie this will make a big difference in my card making because I cannot measure very well in fact my measurements are never ever right no matter how hard I try thank you so much for this video.
Sheila Coon I’m so happy to hear that this has helped you. You’re not alone ok! So many struggle with this. X
This is great, I love how you cater for both letter and A4, it’s easy to get confused, I understand how to do it, but how much easier when someone(you lol ) works out the measurements, Thank you xx💚
Thanks Lynn - Yes for many new card makers, it can be SO OVERWHELMING and challenging. Especially with all the different measurements out there for different card sizes. So happy you understand how to do it - thank for leaving me a comment. :)
Hi! In Canada, the measurements are also in cm and km but we use inches for Stampin'Up! Thank you for this tutorial.
excellent demonstration!
Gail Howerton Thank you! That’s so sweet of you to leave a comment for me. X 😘
Thank you Kylie love your videos you seem to be a lovely person very cheery . Rose
Rose Johnstone awwww thanks! Really appreciate you leaving me a comment and for your support 😘🥰
thank you, it was one of the most important information I’ve ever got about cardmaking :-)
Yes!! So important!!
Awesome
Awesome TFS
This was very helpful.
Happy to hear that Sherry!
Hi Kylie it s so true that as a A4 user since being french, at the begining I wasted so much time and cardstock trying to figure out OSW posted by US youtubers but then... I discovered you !!! Thank you !!!
MéL. QUEMENER so happy to hear this!! So many have had this issue and wasted time and their beautiful paper or Cardstock. We don’t want that to happen!!! ❤️❤️
This is the best video about measurements, i've been searching for videos about it!
*ALL CARD MAKERS SHOULD KNOW THIS AND SAY THIS IN THEIR VIDEOS!*
Im saving this for sure 😭😭
Many card makers don’t realise if they haven’t understood that there are different sizes of Cardstock in different areas.
@@KylieBertucci
I live in Canada but our in stores cards are the same sizes as yours and other countries but our cardstock if i were to make cards are us and canada sizes 11"×8½".
But is it possible to order cardstocks from a different country for exemple Australia so i can make my cards longer and narrower?
@@writingwurld not through Stampin’ Up!® sadly. We are only permitted to sell within our countries.
Thank you for this wonderful explanation.
Yes for sure
👍
Hi Kylie! First - thank you so much for these videos. You have really made this so much more enjoyable and my creativity has blossomed since watching your videos!! Second - just bought my templates :) YAY ME! When you update them, will we need to buy an additional layers download to get those measurements? Thanks again! Karen
Karen Powell you will get the update FREE!! Woo Hoo!! Exciting stuff. Thanks for leaving me a comment and so happy that your creativity has blossomed!! Woo Hoo!! That’s fantastic news.
I live in the US and watched a card maker from the UK and she was using inches but my card did not turn out and now I know why. Thanks for clearing that up for me!
Theresa Hinchman yay! How confusing that?? No wonder we struggle with card making at times.
I watch card makers from the UK all the time and use inches. I'm in Canada. My cards turn out just fine. Inches are inches. The only problem comes when a UK card maker is using papers that are longer than 11 inches. Then, of course the card won't turn out.
Thanks for sharing this Kylie, made a lot of difference. Kylie when is the facebook live please? Will try and make the next one. Thanks
paula m so happy to hear that! My Facebook Live is in the event section on my Facebook page. Any issues finding it let me know! facebook.com/kyliebertucciIndependentstampinupdemonstrator/
thanks Kylie, found it.
Here in the US the large bookstores often sell the UK stamping magazines and the included papers are A4. So we might actually benefit from the A4 templates too!
Patskar oh no way!! Talk about creating more confusion. Lol
I’m sorry, but I assume Stampinup stuff may work with A4 cardstock. All the paper I purchase here in Australia is in books of 12” x 12” or 6”x6” ... and I mostly make 5”x7” cards... I have become adept at using scraps efficiently!
Congratulations though, on making this tutorial that will be extremely helpful for those particularly in your stampinup community...
Hi Kylie...Thank you for sharing...it really makes sense...and have I ever been wasting my cardstock...not anymore I won't...yay for Kylie...cheers Barb :)
Barbara Fuller so happy to hear that it’s helped you. You’re not alone. So many have had these issues with measurements.
@@KylieBertucci...I would love to buy a template from you...but I don't know how to use paypal...help please?
Barbara Fuller you can use a credit card on my store. :-) bit.ly/KylieBertuccisStore
@@KylieBertucci...oh great Kylie...I do have a Visa card...will get onto that tomorrow...and thanks for that...will be very helpful :) xo
Who knew?! Thanks.
It also depends on which system you were taught at school
Yes the template is good
So happy to hear!
I had this issue when I started. I watched US videos and live in the UK.
Sam Milligan - Craft your best life it’s SO confusing!!
I had the opposite problem. Our local bookstores will sometimes carry card magazines from England. I live in the U.S. The English magazines are great because they would have stamp sets and papers or dies. I purchased this one magazine that had card instructions, but they were in meters. I had a terrible time with them because my rulers didn't have the metric measurements on them. Finally, found a Fiskers paper cutter that had both American and Metric measurements. Now all I have to do is find the magazine.
Nancy Knoblich Metric rulers are very affordable and easy to find . The good rulers have both kinds of measurements on them , which can be quite handy.
LOL 😉 🤦🏼♀️ I completely understand that, I am constantly, working on putting two or more things together, to accomplish a task. Story of my life. I hope and pray that you were able to finally put the magazine & rulers together and get your cards made. 👏💕
How do I purchase the templates?
Brilliant❣️you my sister have a gift 🥰
So is the StampinUP cardstock a different size in Australia?
What size is the DSP and the smaller papers in Australia? In the USA they are 12x12 & 6x6.
Do you have a love it chop it formula for the 6x6 size?
Abbie7301 yes different size here! The dsp is the same. I hope you are in my #loveitchopit facebook support group? You can sign up here - eepurl.com/dkJTi9
Do you have templates for old dsp inserts-for the clear cases. Also what do you cut your 12x12’s downtoo and your 6x6?
Please help
Ty
Terese Vanderhaar hi!! Slowly adding them in - email me specific ones you are looking for if you like. Check out my video here - ua-cam.com/video/6GpJAcEp8KU/v-deo.html this will help you with the #loveitchopit measurements.
There’s two ways I cut my 6” x 6”. Directly in half and stick on the card or the card base size that I do with #loveitchopit and you are left with a smaller piece you can use. The card base size can then be used for #loveitchopittopieces. Hope that helps!
How do I go about purchasing paper to make an A4 card base? I'm in the U.S. I like the "rest of the world" size card base better than the A2 size we use here in the U.S.
Thank you Kylie such good information. Are the rectangle dies in US measurements? Or are they made in metric too? Just curious because that would be confusing too. I am from Minnesota USA. I watch a lot of you tube videos that are from Australia and other places that use metric measurements so this is so helpful!
Mary Wilkinson no they don’t fit Metric... which is a shame!
@@KylieBertucci hmm it would be nice for the rest of the world... Maybe SU should consider doing that.
Rectangle dies do come in both US measurements (4.4% of the planet) and in metric (the other 95.6%). You just have to be careful when purchasing.
Sadly, the most confusion must be for Canadians who use metric in most things (part of the 95.6%), but with cardstock, they are "forced" to use American dimensions. ;)
Debi Taylor not with Stampin’ Up!® though currently. Hopefully in the future!
I live in the United States and had no idea the rest of the world had different sized paper for crafting. I have never converted measurements...if someone uses metric I do what they say in metric and if they use the imperial measurements (inches, feet, etc. ) I just use those. Do your printers use 8 1/2 by 11? What about your cutting machines-- don’t they have 6 inch wide or 12 inch wide platforms? Are your Cricut and silhouette machines different?
That's what I do, too.
Our printers use A4.
I assume Cricut etc would be in inches still?
I thought the a4 and letter size were the same too. Thanks for explaining. :)
janice fj yes it can be SUPER confusing!!
The “letter size” (for the US & Canada) as you call it, is a universalally measured as an A2 in either inches & metric.
P Hamm Thank you!
Kylie Bertucci You’re welcome!
Actually there’s a difference: a4 measures 8.3 × 11.7 in inches while US letter is 8.5x11. A4 metric 210 × 297mm iwhile US letter is 216 × 279mm makes all the difference. A2 is 420 × 594mm or 16.5 × 23.4inches
I guess I don't understand the concept. Will all of the non-US demonstrators not be giving sizes in their tutorials or will we just have to guess that we use the sizes we know as our own? I don't particularly remember anyone pointing out a difference when giving sizes in their projects.
Wonderful information. I was watching a video and couldn't understand why the demonstrator was trimming cardstock for the base instead of cutting it in half. So much waste, I hope she sees your video.
Nancy Reynolds lots hope so!! We want to make it easier for our card Makers not more complicated.
I would like to get the inches If you can help me somehow I have a hard time cutting my paper right and I do waste a lot I just seen you on UA-cam it was from 2 years ago can you help me thank you
Hey Kathy! You can get my Card templates here - bit.ly/KyliesCardTemplatesTutorialPDF. They will help you get all the measurements you need so you don't waste too much cardstock!
I don't always use the same size mat, it just depends on how I am "feeling" but I just mount it on my card base and center it. Love this video!
Dawn Thomas yay! Great idea!
Thank you for catering for us Aussie A4 Inchies :D
miseryguts5720 it’s all thanks to my team! I had no idea there were Aussie’s that worked in Inches. You learn something new all the time!!
Hi Kylie, I have 18 Card Measurements, can I have the 2 that I'm missing please. Thanks
Barbara Lowe can you email me here please? Https://kyliebertucci.stampinup.net/contact_me
so the templates for size A4 cards not A2?
JOANNA MOAK both. You can see the details here - bit.ly/KyliesCardTemplatesTutorialPDF
I never realized that the card stock was so different.
Tkat W like so different! It’s super confusing.
It is weird that we in the US and Canada have different measurements than literally everyone else. Why do we do these things? Do we need to make life complicated? Lol.
Shelly Scott hahahaha it’s the whole world that’s complicated. Lol
So Kylie is 8.5'x11' what you are calling letter size cardstock? I have cardstock in both A4 and the 8.5'x11'. I'm a confused aussie lol.
Linda B 8.5” x11” is Letter Cardstock - that’s correct. A4 is 8-1/4” x 11-3/4”.
@@KylieBertucci Oh thank you Kylie. Now I don't feel so confused (or silly). I just need to get both tutorials rather than just the A4 one.
Linda B so many are confused - you’re not alone!! I’m sure it will help.
Thank you for the explanation! I honestly thought letter size and A4 size were the same. I live in the US and we call our standard card size an A2 because it's half the size of standard paper. But I guess it isn't a true A2 now is it? I purchased your card templates this morning and have been cutting templates today. Now to order some stamping cases for storage! BTW, do you have any plans to release a chopping guide for 6x6 paper any time soon? I seem to get more waste from that size then grim the larger paper! Just curious about something else but is the DSP you get in Australia 12x12 like ours is? I've often wondered... Thanks again for your brilliant ideas!!
Crystal Muirhead hey!! Great to hear from you. Yes I will come out with a 6x6” Tutorial very soon! Lots have been asking for one. Glad you got the templates - you are going to love them.
I just want to know the standard US stamping up card measurements. Do I need to buy your templates for that or are the templates something different? Confused as always. lol
QueenNoTeetha151 these will give you the standard card sizes for the US. :-) helps take the guess work out of chopping!
@@KylieBertucci are the measurements given anywhere?
Sue Nieuwenburg here you go - www.kyliebertucci.com/2019/02/kylies-card-templates-do-you-find-card.html
Hi, it's not so much the difference between A4 and Letter paper measurements that I was having, I was aware of this. The problem I have is that, the American frame dies are all designed to incorporate A2 card sizes so, for the most I have the waste from my A4 paper. That said, I usually manage to use the waste for stamping etc.
Same here. I never quite understood why A2 is considered the US "standard" even though the greeting card industry (Hallmark and others) doesn't normally make their cards in that size. All one has to do if she doesn't have a metric ruler handy is use the calculator converter on her PC or phone...I do it all the time, especially when ordering dies and embossing folders from foreign countries, which are seldom shown in inches. It really doesn't matter what size paper we use, we will have some waste at times, so I do what you do and use it for stamping, die cutting and layering on future cards. I don't waste anything; quality paper is just too expensive to waste!!!
IM =IN THE USA, DO I NEED TO BUY THE A 4 CHOICES ???
It depends what you want to use them for. If it’s just for the template then the us letter size one is best. If you want to make tutorials for the world to use or you watch UK or Australian demonstrators that use metric and you want a converter then having the metric one is good too.
I live in the United States, back in the 1960s I learned that we did not have a universal form of measurement on this planet. Being very young it baffled me, now that I'm really old I'm still baffled. I was truly blessed because I could see the conversion easily. None of my schoolmates could pick up the metric system at all and at that time I thought metric is so much simpler than inches, where did we even come up with this silly base 12 form of measurement. I've made custom draperies my whole life and like I said earlier I'm truly blessed with the ability to do equations in my head quickly and the metric system is the one I rely on when I need to do this. Base 10 makes so much more sense than base 12. It would be interesting to learn where the base 12 nonsense even came from. I did get into a lot of trouble from my teachers, challenging them when they said the universal form of measurement and I would correct them saying no it's not universal it's just standardized for our country universal should imply everybody uses the same form of measurement. Well I was always getting in trouble at school anyway for being a smart mouth.
I live in the USA and love your templates. Can I purchase the Imperial templates by PayPal.

I only ever look at tutorials as a guide.... if we all do exactly the same stuff what is the point... surely we are trying to express our own creativity.... and that means adapting an idea not slavishly following every measurement and getting "cookie cutter" exact replicas. We crafters are smart enough to realise that !!!!
Yes exactly Beverley! So many don't know how to begin with the basics and this is what these card templates have helped many do - to become more confident in their creating. It can take many years to build that confidence and there are stages... Tutorials serve a purpose for those that either don't have time or the confidence to create from scratch on their own. But you know that being an experienced crafter.
🇨🇦Helloooo Kylie Bertucci! I am so stoked about your TEMPLATES, I’m not sure 🤔 what you mean “”in a tutorial format””? The actual measuring is my issue, like ? I struggle with the bitsy lines on my cutter, yes it’s a Stampin up cutter, YAY 😁 One ☝️ box 📦 check✅ Two is actually the placement of layers, which I’m hoping the templates solve 🤷♀️ I’m not sure if you include, now don’t laugh 😹 ok 👌 laugh 😂 a diagram or picture of a ruler 📏 showing where n what each line belongs to each measurement like 4/8 or 3/16’s(if those are even correct measurements) ? 😝 Haaa Haa Heee believe it or not, I am a Demonstrator fairly new and run into this Problem like many …. I thought 💭 I could use our inches to say your metric, or visa versa uh hy no way , EVEEER AND IM MESSIGING YOU here, I guess because the other peeps that are out there having the exAct same problem can see it in writing ✍️ that even possibly their Demonstratore?! Has this struggle,,Ohhh yeah we alll Luv to hear 👂or leave a comment,OK,Well I went on long enough we should of done a LIVE 😂 😂🤣I hope my explanation was good ENOUGH TO UNDERSTAND and I very much look forward to hearing back you should probably E-Mail me , would be more convenient for you, until then, Thank You for all that you give us!🇨🇦🦋💜
